Hi, I'm Sylvain from the band Sylvain and I'm from Norway and I'm currently on tour
and I would like to give you a couple of tips on what to do and what not to do on tour. So tip
number one is basically very general, applies to everything in life. Be nice. You're going to be
around the people that you're on tour with in your bus or van and the other bands and all the crew
that you're working with for a lot of time. So just be nice, be nice, be polite, help out when
you can. So just think calm and courtesy, just be nice, just be polite, help out when you can
and just you know try to bring good energy. Everyone has good days, everyone has bad days
but just don't bring everyone down by being that rotten apple. So tip number two, take care of
yourself. This is not super easy to follow on tour because usually you're eating kind of weird times,
you're sleeping is kind of weird for people that drink, which I don't. Maybe you party a bit more
than you would at home but in the middle of all that remember that you're ultimately here to give
an experience to people every single night and you should respect that they're paying to see you.
That's how I see it anyways. So try to take care of yourself. It's going to be better for your
physical health, your mental health and also when you come home you won't have to take like two
So that's good. Drink water, eat well more or less when you can, sleep as much as possible, rest if
you can. If you have the mental space to do it and you feel relaxed enough to do it, rest and yeah
just know when you need to take a little bit of space for yourself as well. Not always having to
accommodate by like you know joking around with other people. If you need your own time, take your
own time. Number three, be prepared. As much as you can prepare in advance, please do because on tour
there's going to be all kinds of weird ---- that you did not plan for in advance that happens
and if you're well prepared like the the least amount of suffering will happen for everyone
involved. So know where you're going, have backup plans like think out where you're going to be
doing things and what kind of route you're going to take. As much as you can plan in advance the
better. I think winging stuff is going to happen anyways but like the the less amount you have to
do of that the better and the more comfortable it's going to be for everyone involved because
they can be prepared for what's going to happen. That also leads me into my next tip which is tip
four, have all the kind of like admin paperwork stuff in order. That sounds super boring and it's
not kind of a tip you would want to hear necessarily but trust me it makes life so
much easier on this tour that we're on right now. We're crossing into Canada twice so we're doing
border crossings four times and having all your paperwork in order and just being like you know
having your ---- together is really invaluable trust me on this one. So that kind of goes hand
in hand with point number three. Tip number five, have fun. This might be a once in a lifetime
experience so make the most of it like of course you're going to be having fun on stage every night
you're going to be making new friends with the other bands the crew members that you're meeting
you're going to make new friends in the audience every single night but just enjoy be present try
not to be like always doing something else or like spend some time just looking out the window when
you're out driving to take in the scenery really be here enjoy it because who knows it might not happen again.
