Hello, my name is Kelsey Carter
and these are my five touring tips.
Number one, make sure you eat.
I don't eat.
I forget to eat.
It's, you know, you wake up and you kind of,
you have your coffee and you sit around
with everyone for a bit and then
feel like it's just always go, go, go.
You might have promo, meet and greet,
sound check, and then the gig.
And for me, it's just, I forget to eat.
And I'm a huge foodie.
So the fact that I forget to eat is massive.
And you have to drink a lot of water,
which I do do.
I drink a lot of water.
You can't actually drink the tour bus,
the water on the tour bus.
You have to have lots of bottles of water,
which obviously isn't great for the environment,
but we try to do the best that we can.
Recycle.
Number two, make sure you check in with home.
Whether that's your mom, your dad,
your best mates, your boyfriend or girlfriend.
I think that, again, the day can get away from you
and you forget to, you know, kind of ground yourself.
And those are the people that can ground you
and remind you, you know, who you are
and why you're doing what you're doing.
I don't have a problem with doing that.
I talk to my parents every day and my boyfriend every day,
but I can see how it would be difficult
for someone to do every day.
Number three, bring some kind of,
and I'm not trying to promote drug use.
I'm not promoting drug use, but melatonin
or, you know, a little bit of something to help you sleep
because these bus rides are so bumpy
and I'm in the back lounge.
I'm in the actual bedroom.
So it's like, imagine your bedroom at home
moving like this.
That's me in the middle of the night.
The bunks, however, are a little bit more,
I think, doable.
Do you guys find that it's kind of easy
to sleep in the bunks, right?
Yeah, you do it for sure.
Bunk's good.
Yeah, bunks are like cozy,
like a caterpillar in your cocoon,
but the back lounge, it's hard
because it's like a regular bedroom
that's just moving constantly through the night.
And I get a little bit motion sickness.
So if the bus is still moving when I wake up
and I get up, I get really sick.
So that's another thing.
Find some time to maybe go for a walk.
Separate yourself from everyone.
Love them, but everyone needs time alone
to just center themselves
and make sure they're doing all right.
Check in with yourself.
I think that's really important
for your mental health as well,
at least for me.
Walking and being alone helps with my mental health.
Five, don't party too hard
because at the end of the day,
you're still here to do a job, innit?
I love a bit of my drink,
love a cheeky cigarette,
but I've been a very good girl on the road,
haven't I?
You have.
This is work and I wanna do the best that I can
for anyone that buys a ticket to my show.
So yes, discipline.
Have to have discipline.
Balance, though.
Balance, but discipline at the same time.
