I went to the city called Frankfurt.
And first I would like to note that in Germany there are two Frankfurts.
Frankfurt am Main and Frankfurt am Oder.
Frankfurt am Main is located in the Gessen land, in the western part of Germany.
This is an important financial center.
Here is the European Central Bank and the Frankfurt Stock Exchange
and many other financial institutions.
This is the largest city in the Gessen land and the fifth largest in Germany.
Frankfurt airport is one of the busiest international airports in the world,
and the city itself is the central transport hub of Germany and Europe.
Unlike its cousin, Frankfurt am Oder cannot boast of its size and economic achievements.
In general, it is much smaller than the location of the Land of Brandenburg in the eastern part of Germany,
on the Oder River, which forms the border with Poland.
This is not a large transport hub, but it serves as an important point of crossing the border between Germany and Poland.
We figured out the differences, and our destination is Frankfurt, located on the Main River.
Let's figure out the meaning of this city.
And if you are considering visiting Germany or Austria,
then this video will help you understand whether it is worth your attention or not.
Frankfurt on the Main. Main is a river. Frankfurt, in fact, is a city.
So, the Main has a right bank and a left bank.
The main attractions are the cathedral, the square, all the skyscrapers.
All this is on the right bank. The bridge.
By the way, there are many of them, these bridges.
He is not alone, there are many of them.
But this is probably the main tourist bridge,
from the central square. It leads you to the left bank.
Tourists are popular on the right bank.
Nevertheless, on the left bank there is also something to see.
It is quiet and calm.
That is, you just crossed the bridge, everything is quiet, calm.
And here, for example, there is a church.
This one, however, is now under restoration.
Here, if you cross, you walk along the streets.
There are such German fachwerk houses, there are bars.
They are quieter, they are cozy, they are less touristy.
And they pour different local drinks there, including apple wine.
There is a train station on the left bank.
Right in front of it is a square.
On the square there is a market.
Here you can buy sausages.
Please, a bunch of parked bicycles.
The German immediately drove up, left the bike, went to the station, left,
then returned, took the bike.
From a cultural point of view, it has a fairly high status.
It has museums, theaters and galleries.
The city is very touristy,
and this is felt when you walk along the embankment or the central streets.
And in general, a large percentage of foreign citizens live here.
Of course, if you look at photos or videos of Frankfurt on the Internet,
then its horizon with numerous skyscrapers will cause you associations
such as finance, wealth, trading, shopping.
And all this is about it.
But if you dig a little deeper,
then here you can find one of the most famous art museums in Germany,
where works from the Middle Ages to modern art are presented.
The Städel Museum.
Or, for example, the old opera house,
a beautifully restored opera house,
where concerts, operas and other events are held.
Here is also the birthplace of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe,
the most famous German writer,
which was restored and turned into the Goethe House Museum.
3.40 costs one ticket.
Imagine one trip around Frankfurt.
Römer.
A medieval building serving as the city hall of Frankfurt.
Located on a square with many other historical buildings.
Römer, by the way, is translated as Roman.
This building has existed for more than six centuries.
In the Middle Ages, the Kaisers were crowned here
and held fairs and parties on the square.
This tradition has been preserved here to this day.
And one of the most famous fairs is the Book Fair.
It is the largest in the world.
Town Hall Complex.
Römer is a business card of the city.
And you can imagine what the atmosphere was like here in the Middle Ages.
St. Nicholas Church in the south.
One of the oldest churches in Frankfurt.
It has been here since the 15th century.
St. Bartholomew Cathedral.
A Gothic cathedral whose history dates back more than seven centuries.
Palmengarten.
A large botanical garden with plants from all over the world.
And the main embankment of the Main River.
A picturesque place for walking, biking or just a picnic by the river.
I just put the drone on charge.
I want to go or ride a bike.
If I can rent a bike here.
In short, take the drone and go and shoot.
I want a city from a drone.
In the meantime, I need to book a hotel.
More precisely, extend the hotel.
I stay here until Monday.
It's Saturday now.
And tomorrow I have to go.
I have already extended it several times.
Because I'm waiting for a visa.
More precisely, I received a notification yesterday that my visa is ready here.
But it came at 8 pm.
The post office does not work on weekends.
Where do they deliver all this?
All this, right?
And I need to resit the weekend.
In order to pick it up on Monday.
And already fly away.
Oh, well, guys.
The cyclist was given a bike in another country.
What does it mean?
And what kind of bike?
I think that now you already have some kind of picture of this city.
And it becomes clear that he has a rich historical past.
Let's go to the modern financial part of this city.
To Bankenviertel.
And let's try to understand why Frankfurt on Main became the financial center of Germany.
You know, if you are tired of European historical architecture.
Because many people say that Europe is a museum under the open sky.
If you are tired, you are tired of going to museums.
Look at old buildings.
Well, in Frankfurt, come here.
Look at the tallest buildings.
Historically, Frankfurt had a favorable geographical position.
This is 1.
2.
Frankfurt had and has the Main River.
And this is logistics.
And 3.
But you probably haven't heard about this union.
And the first meeting of its members took place in 1367.
What is the essence of the union?
Trade.
At different times, it consisted of 50 to 160 cities.
And the knights were covering all this.
Well, who else?
The cities were located on the territory of modern Belgium, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Sweden and Estonia.
The union had its offices in different places.
Including Novgorod.
What was sold?
Grain, fur, leather, linen, salt, fish, lard.
Honey, wax, ore, wood, weapons.
Dress, wool, wine, metal products and much more.
The history of Frankfurt as a center of commerce begins in the 9th century.
When the first trade fairs are held here.
By the 16th century, Frankfurt became a center for currency exchange and trade.
Primarily thanks to trade fairs that attracted traders from all over Europe.
At the end of the 16th century, an official exchange was founded in the city.
Which makes it one of the oldest in the world.
Initially, it was not a fund exchange in the modern sense.
And the main attention was paid to currency, goods and other forms of trade.
In the 19th century, with the advent of the industrial era, Frankfurt began to pay more attention to trade in securities.
Including shares and bonds.
In the 19th century, especially after the founding of the German Empire in 1871,
the Frankfurt stock exchange became the capital market for the recently united Germany.
The 20th century.
Two world wars had a devastating impact on the German economy and the stock exchange.
After World War II, Frankfurt was one of the few large German cities that remained relatively untouched.
Which allowed it to quickly restore its status as a financial center.
After World War II, the Frankfurt stock exchange was revived and played a decisive role in the economic recovery of Western Germany.
This allowed Germany to create one of the strongest economies in the world.
And by the end of the 20th century, with the advent of computerization and globalization,
the Frankfurt stock exchange underwent significant modernization, adopting electronic trading systems.
Already in the 21st century, the Frankfurt stock exchange continues to remain the world's leading trading platform for securities.
Which is facilitated by its central role in the European and world economy.
Frankfurt
One of the most significant factors contributing to the financial popularity of Frankfurt is the location of the European Central Bank here.
Since its founding in 1998, the Bank with the headquarters in Frankfurt has been responsible for the development and implementation of monetary policy in the Eurozone.
It plays a decisive role in maintaining financial stability and monitoring the euro currency.
Frankfurt is home to the headquarters of the largest and most famous banks in Germany.
Deutsche Bank, Commerzbank.
According to various sources, there are representatives of 150 international banks here.
Including J.P. Morgan Chase, Citigroup and Goldman Sachs.
My 100% recommendation will be for you to understand Frankfurt, feel Frankfurt, understand its scale.
This is to go up to the observation deck.
Here in the skyscraper, here in this one.
What is it called? I have no idea.
You can just type in Viewpoint Frankfurt and this skyscraper will show you.
This is where you come in, go up and from all sides you can look at Frankfurt from above.
See what this city is like from above.
It's a cool feeling to take a picture.
In short, such an experience as in Dubai.
As if in Dubai you go up to the Burj Khalifa, to the observation deck.
Here you go up and look at the city from above.
There are such pictures where there are markings.
You can see the main markings, where what is located, what building.
Look at it from above.
And of course, when you look at the city from above, you understand its scale more.
You understand its size more, what it is, in fact.
