The beer culture is completely different depending on the country.
Japan is the only one in Asia.
Good work, everyone.
I'm Kasumi, a personality.
The autumn is approaching.
The temperature has dropped considerably compared to the midsummer of July and August,
but I think there are still many days when I feel hot.
One of the things you want to drink at the end of a hot day at work is beer, right?
Some people may find it worthwhile to drink beer at the end of their work.
Today's theme is about beer.
Recently, not only domestic beer, but also beer from all over the world has been available in Japan.
How is Japanese beer evaluated from overseas?
The result of Americans traveling around Asia and drinking beer.
Hello, my name is James.
I'm going to a university in the United States.
The other day, I went on a trip to Asia with my friend Oliver,
but please listen to the story at that time.
Our trip is called Asia Beer Tour.
First, we will go from the United States to Southeast Asia,
then Singapore, Vietnam, and China,
then go to India, and finally return to Japan.
And what Oliver and I like to drink is beer.
I'm going to enjoy Asia by drinking delicious beer wherever I go.
Even if I cut down on accommodation and transportation costs a little,
I want to drink delicious local beer.
So the first place we visited was Singapore.
Singapore, which is close to the equator, is hot all year round.
When we arrived, we were overwhelmed by the heat.
We wanted to drink beer as soon as possible, so we went straight to the hotel.
We checked in at the hotel and immediately visited a bar near the hotel.
It must be the best beer to drink in this heat.
After a while, the waitress brought us Tiger Beer.
Tiger Beer is a representative beer of Singapore,
and it is said to have a unique, fruity and refreshing taste.
Let's have a toast.
When we opened the beer bottle and took a sip,
eh? Isn't it room temperature?
Warm liquid came into my mouth.
If you look closely, there is an ice glass next to the table.
When I asked the waitress,
she said that you pour beer into this ice glass and drink it while cooling the beer.
It's impossible to put ice in beer,
but according to the waitress,
this is the standard style of Singapore.
We had no choice but to pour beer into the ice glass.
The taste is definitely beer,
but I fell into an illusion as if I was drinking other alcohol.
It's true that you can drink it cold thanks to the ice,
but if you relax, the ice will melt and the taste will be diluted.
It's a beer from Southeast Asia,
which is characterized by a light and light taste,
but because of the ice, you can't feel the taste anymore.
My first beer experience in Southeast Asia gave me a big culture shock.
Next, we went to Vietnam.
I did a little research,
and Vietnam has the highest beer consumption in Southeast Asia.
It's the same as Singapore, and it's hot all year round,
so you can understand why you want to drink cold beer.
The beer we ordered at a Vietnamese bar is called San San San,
which means Bar Bar Bar.
This is a popular beer in Vietnam,
and it is said to be popular for its light fruitiness and light taste.
However, unfortunately, the beer that came out in Vietnam was also very cold.
We poured warm beer into the ice.
This is something I found out later,
but it seems that not only Singapore and Vietnam,
but also Southeast Asia is drinking cold beer like this.
There seems to be various reasons,
but it is often said that
because the introduction of refrigeration equipment was delayed in Southeast Asia,
it was not possible to cool the beer sufficiently in the past.
So, the idea of cooling beer with ice instead of a refrigerator
and drinking beer with ice as it is continues to this day.
This time, it may have been a good opportunity to experience a local way of drinking.
However, for us Americans who have a culture of drinking cold beer in a can or bottle,
it was a little unfamiliar.
But Southeast Asia was still a good one.
Next, we visited a local city in China.
After arriving at the hotel where we stayed,
we decided to go to a nearby stall and have a beer.
Surprisingly, the beer in China was completely normal temperature.
At that time, the temperature was close to 30 degrees,
so it was already completely hot beer.
In Southeast Asia, ice glasses were attached to normal temperature beer,
but there is no ice in China.
As expected, we thought this was it,
so we tried to ask the clerk if there was any cold beer.
Then, the uncle next door said,
It's better not to drink cold beer.
Drinks are best at room temperature.
Suddenly he talked to us.
According to the uncle,
there are many people in China who think that
cold food and drinks cool the body.
In particular, it is not good for pregnant women to drink cold beer.
If pregnant women drink cold beer,
there is no doubt that Chinese people will look at them coldly.
So in Chinese stores, beer has a normal temperature.
It's true that what Chinese people think is the most,
but we didn't have the confidence to drink this warm beer to the end.
After confirming that the uncle left the store,
we asked the clerk if there was any cold beer in the refrigerator,
and he brought cold beer.
I didn't expect to come to China and have such a hard time with the temperature of the beer.
It seems different now,
but in the past, the beer served on the plane of Air China was also normal temperature.
It's a shock.
By the way, at the hotel bar we stopped by the day before we returned,
I was relieved that the cold beer came out properly.
It's not ice, it's cold beer in the refrigerator.
The oily and rich food unique to China goes well with cold beer.
But hotel bars are quite expensive.
Even if I don't like room temperature beer,
I thought I couldn't drink it every time in a place like this.
By the way, I found out later that fake beer is also available in China.
Normal beer is made of bakugan, hops, and water, right?
But that fake beer is made by mixing food coloring, carbonation, and foam in water
and adding a flavor powder like beer.
It seems that there is also terrible information that if you drink fake beer, you will have a headache in a few hours.
The point to distinguish whether it is fake beer is the price,
and it is safer not to buy too cheap beer.
It's amazing that even in China you have to check if the beer is real.
And the next country we visited was India.
The beer in India was quite good, unlike before.
When I ordered a beer at a hotel bar,
the waitress brought me a beer bottle and asked me if the temperature of the beer was okay.
The beer was certainly cold,
but I liked it a little colder, so I answered,
In the countries of Asia so far,
the probability of bringing a beer bottle cold was low,
so I was impressed with this service.
In addition, in India,
it is also positive that more than 8% of alcohol is sold at a cheap price.
I thought that Indian beer might be the most delicious in Asia.
Leaving India behind,
the last destination we headed to was Japan.
The moment we got out of the plane,
we were overwhelmed by the extraordinary heat.
It was certainly hot enough in other Asian countries,
but Japan is so hot that sweat sticks to your skin,
and the quality of the heat is different.
If it's so hot, I don't even want to go outside.
So the first place we went to was a hotel bar.
To be honest, I thought all the hotels and bars were the same,
but the beer here was the best.
The beer poured into the glass was so cold that I thought it couldn't get any colder,
and the moment I put my mouth on it,
the foam was a little frozen.
Besides, the ratio of foam and beer is also the best.
Because it was so delicious,
we drank it all at once and ordered another one.
Then, what do you think?
The waiter didn't pour a new glass into the glass he finished drinking,
but prepared a new glass that was cold.
He always offers the best temperature products.
This waiter is wonderful.
The Indian bar was also very friendly,
but the Japanese bar was also very good.
We were satisfied with the waiter of such a bar,
and the next day we went to a drink-all-you-can-drink shop.
Actually, it's not a drink-all-you-can-drink shop,
but a drink-all-you-can-drink shop.
This is a drink-all-you-can-drink shop.
Actually, I wanted to go to the bar at the hotel yesterday again,
but such shops are quite expensive, aren't they?
So we checked if there was a place where we could drink cheap and delicious beer,
and we found out that there was a system called drink-all-you-can-drink in Japan.
Drink-all-you-can-drink is a system that allows us to drink as much as we want
if we pay a certain amount of money,
and we want to drink as much beer as we can.
In addition, we found out that there is a drink-all-you-can-drink shop
near the hotel where we stayed.
The name of the shop is Beer Garden.
It was a hassle to go out in the hot weather,
but we thought that if we arrived at the department store, the air conditioner would work,
so we went to the department store.
However, when we looked for a place called Beer Garden in the department store,
it was written that it was a special venue on the roof.
Not indoors, but on the roof?
I didn't want to drink beer outside in this hot weather,
so we went out on the roof.
Then, there were salarymen and students on their way home from work.
When we managed to get a seat, we ordered a drink-all-you-can-drink
and immediately brought a large beer jug.
Unlike the bar at the hotel, the staff here were generous,
carrying several beer jugs around each table.
They brought beer to our table right away.
As expected, the beer was so cold that the glass froze.
We drank it up.
It's strange that cold beer tastes even better
thanks to the added unusual feeling of drinking outside in the hot weather.
I didn't want to go outside in the hot weather,
but there are some drinks that taste good because it's hot.
After that, we ordered snacks such as edamame, sausages, and fried potatoes
and enjoyed a Japanese drink-all-you-can-drink.
I felt again that a drink-all-you-can-drink system
where you can enjoy beer without worrying about the price is the best system.
The two of us were very satisfied and got drunk.
So far, we have enjoyed local beer in several countries around the world,
but only Japanese beer has such a refreshing feeling after drinking it.
The Japanese beer garden and drink-all-you-can-drink system are the best in the world.
If I have a chance someday, I would like to visit again.
Foreign Reactions
Japanese beer is lighter than ale beer and easier to drink like water.
It goes well with Japanese food with a lot of raw ingredients such as sashimi and sushi.
When I eat sushi, I always drink Kirin beer with it.
They go well together.
By the way, it is good to combine Sapporo beer with spicy food.
Japanese Asahi beer is the best beer in the world for me.
Canada's Asahi beer is sold in the US,
but the real Asahi beer sold in Japan is the best.
You can only drink the real Asahi beer in Japan.
I am German, but unfortunately I feel the lack of Japanese beer.
German beer is rich in taste and has a unique richness and peculiarity,
but Japanese beer is not so unique and light.
Not only the beer itself,
but I feel Japanese-like when I cool it down to a beer glass.
I went on a trip to Japan a long time ago,
but I was surprised that the beer I ordered was cold to the glass.
Since then, I have a habit of cooling beer glasses at home.
Summary
In Japan, it is common to say that beer should be cooled down to a beer glass,
but it is not common in the world.
It seems that the way of drinking beer varies greatly depending on the country,
such as the country where it is drunk at room temperature and the country where it is drunk with ice.
By the way, it is said that ale beer, which is popular in the UK,
is the most delicious to drink when it is lukewarm.
When you look around the world,
you will notice that our commonalities are not everything.
It's still a hot day,
but recently there are many beer gardens that are open until the end of October,
but you can enjoy beer outdoors for a longer period of time than before.
The beer you drink in a beer garden is special.
