A quick unboxing of Apple's New iPhone 15 Pro in the Natural Titanium color and my first impressions of the iPhone 15 Pro design vs the Space Black iPhone 14 Pro. The iPhone 15 Pro is easier to hold, weighs less, and has better battery life!

Hey everyone, how's it going?
Daniel here.
So this unboxing is starting from a slightly different point
because I made it halfway through and realized
I hadn't started recording with my top camera,
which was a tragedy,
but we're starting from a slightly different point.
We've already opened up the phone.
This is my personal phone.
So I'm like, okay, whatever.
I just, I've been excited to get into it.
And yeah, so what's in the box real quick,
and let's just do this.
Let's get through the kind of beginning of it.
You're gonna get your USB-C to USB-C braided cable.
This is the only thing that's new in the box this year,
which is a good change.
Finally, you can use this with a PC, Android phone,
your tablets, and basically any device out there,
random flashlights and stuff.
You can charge that and charge this phone.
You can connect two iPhones to each other now
and charge each other, which is fantastic.
Now this is the natural titanium color.
This is the one that I'm upgrading to from the Space Black.
They've changed the name so many times
where it's like, it's getting confusing now.
And as soon as I opened this,
super surprised of how much I like it
because I was expecting a little bit of a yellow tint
to this for some reason.
The Apple Watch Ultra, when I first opened that up,
yeah, I kind of noticed like a slight yellowish
kind of look to it that I didn't quite like.
If you see there up close,
you can kind of see the difference.
The Apple Watch Ultra is not the same color.
It's very close, but they are not the same color.
And for me, that's kind of a good thing.
I actually like the way that the overall look
of the iPhone 15 Pro here looks.
The back is definitely more of a stone kind of pebble color.
It does have a slight kind of pearlescent sheen to it,
but it looks really nice.
It looks really classy and also very timeless.
It really matches the year 2023.
What I was afraid of the most here was opening it up
like I did last year's purple
and realizing that it was a little bit too dull
and boring for me and under different lighting conditions.
I really liked last year's purple here,
like in the studio lighting,
but then once you turn off all the lights,
it just looks like dark gray and boring.
And so I ended up having to return my personal phone
and then just switching to space black.
This year I was like, hopefully that's not the case.
And I can just, without even opening the black this year,
I can tell you, if you're switching from another color,
I think you're gonna love this one
as long as you're not expecting any gold tint to it
because it's not gold at all.
I see how in some images you might think,
hey, it's like a replacement for the gold
since they got rid of the gold.
And honestly, it's not.
Sure, it kind of heads in that direction
in comparison to the white one, the silver one,
but it's a very stone subdued, very professional color.
I actually really, really like it.
I think it matches the camera lenses really great.
And overall, they just did a fantastic job with this color.
Absolutely everything is tinted perfectly here.
There are some reports online saying
that some people are getting devices
that aren't properly colored
and that might be an issue with the titanium.
So we'll see if yours looks muddy or anything too crazy
when you take it out of the box,
definitely return it and get a new one.
Now, of course, one of the new things this year
is these sides.
We now have titanium on the side instead of stainless steel.
I've absolutely been the biggest hater of stainless steel
for the longest time.
I've always preferred aluminum the way that it looks,
and this is fantastically,
you know, it bridges the gap between those two.
It's now a matte finish,
but it's still stronger than aluminum.
Let's flip this here to the same side
because the other new thing that we have with these phones
is the ringer switch is now gone.
So you don't flip it anymore,
and instead it's now just a button that you click.
It's a very satisfying button.
It's a hard click.
I really like that and a nice change.
We'll see.
This basically all the time stayed on mute,
so I never actually used it.
So this is a good change
because you basically get new functionality
out of the phone.
Here, let's take a look here at the bottom,
the USB-C port versus the Lightning port.
You can see the USB-C port's a little bit bigger
and let's see how easy actually it is
to kind of connect a USB-C cable.
Because one of the great things about Lightning
was just how easy it was to connect.
No issue, really.
Connects very easily, goes right in.
Definitely doesn't go in as easily as Lightning.
I thought Lightning was really well-designed for that.
You could just go at any angle in it.
I don't think it would scratch the phone.
This one, over time, you're gonna see scratches down there
if you're not careful with it.
Now here, actually, before I smudge it up too much,
I actually do want to put a screen protector
on mine this year.
Last year, I kind of took it off very quickly.
I got tired of it,
but I absolutely demolished the actual screen on my phone.
So if you want to see what it looks like
for a year without a screen protector,
I don't know if you can tell, really,
but it's pretty bad.
It has like a million micro scratches on there.
I've dropped this thing absolutely everywhere.
I can attest to the fact
of how durable these phones actually are.
And yeah, I know that some people online
will scare you with some of the kind of more crazy drop tests
but don't drop your bare phone from 20 feet.
That's all I can say.
So yeah, I'm just gonna apply a screen protector real quick.
Before we get it too dirty,
it's just gonna be easier here
before I start touching the screen and everything.
All right, so I put my screen protector on.
Not a great installation, but it doesn't matter.
Let me go ahead and show you
how this color looks with a clear case.
That way, in case you're wondering
and you want to show off that color,
just exactly how it looks.
I like to see how it looks with different types of cases.
But we have this Apple one here
for one of the other videos,
but I thought might as well just open it ahead of time
so I can show you this here.
And that's how it's gonna look there
with that white MagSafe ring,
just so you can get an idea.
Definitely gonna be nice and grippier
than just the matte finish that it has.
This is gonna add a little bit of grip,
maybe just that little bit that you might need
to not slip it or let it fall from your hand.
I've always liked the Apple clear cases.
I think they're a pretty solid choice.
I don't think they're as bad as people make them out to be.
But yeah, there's a little bit of a closer look
so you can see it up close.
That's that natural titanium in that clear color.
There's the sides, action button.
Action button does actually get really, really smushy
with this case, in case you were wondering.
Not a fan of that.
Volume buttons aren't as bad, but the action button,
wow, Apple could have done much better with that.
It's not great.
The bottom here is left completely exposed and open.
That might not be the best thing
if you're looking for a case.
And the sleep and wake button,
a little bit mushy as well, too.
Overall, not bad, but I do like how this color
looks with a case.
And one of the great things here
is because of those rounded edges,
the cases feel much better, too.
It's so much nicer in the hand.
And the phone itself is just,
it feels fantastic in the hand as well.
Wow, this is so nice and ergonomic in comparison
to last year's 14 Pro that, oh my goodness,
this feels like a brick now in comparison
and you're just kind of holding them side by side.
Same size, there's kind of like an illusion happening
where like the screen on the one on the right looks bigger.
So the 16 Pro looks bigger, 15 Pro.
So yeah, the screen on the 15 Pro kind of looks bigger,
even though it's not, it just has the smaller bezels
there on the side, which you can kind of tell
maybe on video there.
Yeah, there's a lot less black border around here.
Look at that terrible screen protector installation, SMH.
Here, let me just real quick, just scan this.
I want this phone to start setting up
because usually my iCloud or, you know,
even when I transfer direct from phone to phone,
it takes about 18 hours, like a whole day.
All right, so I just took the screen protector off
and put it on again and it still worked like a charm thing.
Props to the screen protector, honestly.
It went through a lot.
So yeah, I'm just really excited.
I think the body's gonna make it so much more ergonomic.
I know that people like to be grinches
and get mad about Apple's lack of changes over the years,
even though absolutely every manufacturer
is doing the absolutely same thing
by doing iterative changes every year
because we're not advancing.
And that's to be expected
because we only make big leaps from time to time.
And also we shouldn't be upgrading phones every year.
I mean, if it wasn't because I make these videos,
I surely would not be upgrading absolutely every year,
especially since I do kind of take a liking
to keeping the phone now that I'm older.
I kind of feel like I've made memories with the phone,
so I kind of want to keep it longer, I don't know.
But still, I think these small changes are very welcome
if you're upgrading from devices
that are a couple years old, a 6S, a 5, I don't know.
From this far back, you're gonna notice the changes
and it's gonna be a very good set of changes.
This device feels very polished
in comparison to last year's,
at least when you hold it and feel it.
It just feels absolutely fantastic in the hand.
Doesn't feel bulky.
It does feel lighter weight.
It feels nicer to hold.
It's hard to describe.
Is it an amazing update over last year's?
No, it's the small changes.
But if you can sell last year's model for a good price
and get this one for not too much of a difference,
then that's a good thing.
If it makes you happy to have these devices, then do it.
I don't understand why people get so negative
and start fighting online.
And real quick, let me show you from a distance
how the natural titanium looks here.
Also, slightly different lighting there
in case you want to see.
Maybe you'll see some of the smudging.
Let me go ahead and smudge it up right there for you.
Extra lot so you can see if that bothers you or not.
I don't think you're gonna notice much smudging
on the sides here.
Maybe, maybe not.
But hopefully it kind of helps you a little bit there.
From a distance, how does that look while I'm on the phone?
Does it look like a stone color?
I think it does.
It's like a pebble stone.
I think it looks really good.
I'm a big fan of it.
I think I really like it.
It's a nice shift.
I've had a black phone for like three years at this point.
And I do like the way that that looks.
Yeah, let me go ahead and text here.
Right there, you can see the three lenses.
I like the contrast.
I dig it.
I think it's a really nice color.
It's not crazy.
It's not over the top.
I don't think you're making much of a statement with it.
And I like that.
I like when colors are calm
and not really attracting too much attention.
I think the color itself is a home run.
If you're just kind of not sure what color to get,
I would say just get the natural titanium.
One thing to keep in mind is that next year,
it'll obviously be last year's color, right?
If you get black, if you get silver,
people might not be able to tell which one you have.
But if you get the color of the year,
such as purple from last year,
then people definitely know,
oh, well, you have the 14 Pro, right?
That might be a good thing.
Might be a bad thing, depends.
But I'm just mentioning it
in case you want that in your brain
and something to think about.
But yeah, titanium here, definitely a winner in my book.
And it has my stamp of approval.
If you're wondering on a color,
definitely look into this one.
Now real quick, in case you wanted to see it,
here is the deep purple versus the natural titanium.
The deep purple definitely has
kind of a little bit more shine to it.
And the color kind of glistens
in a very, really nice way and pretty way
that I described last year.
But the titanium, I think, is a more solid choice
for something that I'm gonna keep longer term.
I think the purple is really cool
to look at for a bit and stuff,
but I could not personally commit
to having that phone for the whole year.
Here again, the sides, I think,
wonderful change that we have the matte sides.
Now fingerprints, let's do that real quick.
How about that?
Let me go ahead and smudge up the sides here
on this, like I'm just gonna touch, touch, touch.
Then we'll do the same thing on the same side
of the Pro Max here.
And here we go.
Which one's worse?
Let's see.
I definitely see smudges on the titanium,
but nowhere near as much as on the stainless steel.
The stainless steel was just a smudge magnet.
It's absolutely gross.
I've always hated it.
It's basically a battle of always
keeping it clean with my shirt.
This is much better.
Definitely the fingerprints are there
and they're worse than on aluminum.
Aluminum is still gonna be the king here
of looking clean more often.
But I think as far as choosing between these two,
it's a no brainer for me
that the titanium is a way better choice.
It just feels better in the hand cleaner.
And it's gonna have that nice cold touch in the morning.
If your place is cold, it's gonna feel cold.
The stainless steel never really felt cold for me.
It just always felt like warm
and weirdly plasticky in a sense.
So I think for me, a great choice.
If you don't like it,
then last year's models are cheaper now
and still perfectly good.
So you can always buy that and upgrade to that
if you're looking for that.
Now we'll have to talk about more of the other functions
in a later video, since this is gonna take forever
and I still gotta get through a lot of unboxing.
So you wanna see all the other colors,
make sure to click through and check those out.
