Hi guys, I hope you have a wonderful day and welcome back. So today I will be showing you guys
how I mix the soil for my garden. And so far this is one of the most question asked how I mix
my soil. So today I will show you guys step by step how I mix my soil to grow a big and healthy
vegetable. So in this video I will be mixing the soil for my brand new raised bed. I am expanding
the garden again. I add two brand new beds for the next season and I cannot wait. We're gonna
have plenty of space to grow. So my new beds I will be growing all the fall crops such as
bok choy, cabbages and also lettuces. Alright so let's get started. First layer will be weed
resistant. So I always add weed resistant on the bottom. It doesn't matter the bed that I set up
on the ground or on the concrete. I have a couple of the beds that I lay directly on the concrete.
So it's the same process. And I use the regular black weed resistant. Don't use the heavy duty
one because you will have problem with drainage. And then I laid a couple layers of the cardboard.
Now the next layers will be all the scrap. Anything that you can find around the garden.
This is all the vegetable that I pruned from the garden. And you can use wood chip, wood trunk,
you can also use dry leaf. Anything that you can find in the garden you save it.
And because the more you have the scrap the more you can save money on soil. So for me this round
I have very low of the wood scrap, vegetable scrap. So I use about three bags of the potting mix.
I use and also half of the bag of the organic compost. You can use any brand as long as you
know any compost that you like. I use this one a lot. I bought this from the local nursery
because I don't think hardware store carry this the G&B brand. Alright so the next layer I add
another bag of potting mix. You can find this brand at Home Depot or Lowe's. And then I add
this homemade compost. This is called vermicompost because it contains a lot of live worms and worm
casting. I always love to add live worms directly in my raised bed because they can make compost
and worm casting right in your raised bed. Spread them out evenly and then I use the remaining
of the compost another half bag. Alright so the last layer finally right. So I end up using about
six bags of potting mix and one bag of compost. The organic compost that I got from the nursery
and I'm using the rake to kind of like pressing the soil lightly not like really compact the soil.
Just press it lightly for the soil to settle and now it's topping time. I'm using azomite. I love
azomite you guys. Azomite is good for amendment for the crops, for compost, for potting soil
and you can use to increase the size and yield of the fruits. And it's also an excellent for
coating the seed and irrigations for the maximum germination rate. And the last topping that I'm
going to add is all-purpose fertilizer. This is one of my favorite fertilizer ever. So I picked
this up from the local nursery and this brand is a GNB but you guys can use any brand you like.
But I love the all-purpose fertilizer especially for fall, winter, spring that I grow a lot of the
and then you just fluff it up lightly on the top. You don't have to fluff, mix it too deep. Just
lightly on the top soil. So I am growing some Chinese bok choy, Chinese cabbages and also
brassica. I picked up some of the seedlings from the nursery especially the one that I don't have
Alright guys, so I think that's it for today's video. I hope you enjoy and learn something new
