You're making these 3 mistakes when you tell a story:
🛑 MISTAKE 1️⃣: you go off on a tangent and give irrelevant details that deviate from what actually happened in the story
🛑 MISTAKE 2️⃣: you intellectualise parts of the story and start teaching/preaching without permission and without finishing the story
🛑 MISTAKE 3️⃣: you give your personal opinion about things that happened in the story before finishing the story
👆🏻 These 3 things piss people off! That's why they roll their eyes! 🙄
I do too! And you too! 😂
These are the 3 things people WANT to hear when you tell a story:
✅ where was it?
✅ what happened?
✅ how did it end?!
That's it! Tell those 3 things and drop the mic 🎤.
(and thank me later 😁).
❤️ Hear me here: People LOVE listening to a story. A STORY. No irrelevant details, no preaching, no opinions. Just - the - story. After telling the story (it's another story) you can test people's reaction and see 1️⃣ if they are curious about other details, 2️⃣ if they are teachable/preachable, 3️⃣ if they care for your personal opinion (which they will, if you tell the flipping story right!).
And if you're still unsure about how to figure this out, this Monday I'm giving a free STORY MASTERCLASS where I'll teach you in 3 minutes:
* How to cut out all the fluff & tell a snappy, short story people actually want to hear
* My super short story framework that makes your audience hang onto every word you say
* How to tell a short story that sells
So, see you at THE STORY MASTERCLASS: STORIES WORTH SHARING
this Monday, October 2nd, 11am Pacific Time (7pm UK)

Have you ever told a personal story and people rolled their eyes when they were listening?
Be honest. It happened to me many times and the reason why people rolled their eyes when you tell a personal story is because
You were not telling a story
the reason why people rolled their eyes when you tell a personal story is because
You started going off on a tangent. You did one of these three things
You gave too many irrelevant details
you started intellectualizing the story in the middle of the story and
You started giving too many personal
Interpretations of the story without finishing the story. These three things piss people off
And that's why they rolled their eyes when you're telling a personal story
Okay, do you agree say yes, if you agree it pisses me off
So the three things that people want to hear when you're sharing a personal story are these three things
Where was it? What happened? How it ended? That's it. No more
They don't want irrelevant details. They don't want
Intellectualizing in the middle of the story. They don't want to hear your personal opinion in the middle of the story
They just want to know where was it? What happened? How it ended?
So that's the only thing that you should share and if you want some support in sharing this this Monday
I'm giving a story masterclass. There's a free story masterclass. It's gonna be Monday
