Well, this has a feeling of a really, really big game.
It is always a big game when Tottenham and Liverpool go head-to-head,
but today feels that little bit more special.
Two sides that have really caught the eye, perhaps the two sides in the country
that have caught the eye so far this Premier League season.
Tottenham flying and full of energy and vigour under Ange-Pastekoglou.
The new-look Liverpool at the moment, unbeaten,
and moving very, very well through their paces.
Jürgen Klopp has resisted the urge to put Trent Alexander-Arnold straight back into the side,
he's on the bench, Joe Gomez gets another vote of confidence from the manager,
he's been in really good touch over the last few weeks,
he keeps his place and will play right back.
Elsewhere, the big call is up front through the middle,
Darwin Nunez on the bench.
Well, for Tottenham and Ange-Pastekoglou,
today they are without Brennan Johnson, who's had a hamstring injury,
in fact they've got real problems on the left-hand side,
with Ivan Perisic out long-term with a knee injury.
So we're expecting Son to move out to the left today and Richarlison to come in.
Harry Kane's gone now, of course, but what they have done is use the money they got for him,
recruited very, very well, Vicario the goalkeeper,
Van der Ven the central defender,
and of course James Madison has been a great addition for them.
It's Mohamed Salah.
Udogi is the defender.
And the pass was towards Luis Diaz,
and the challenge as he hit the shot was a vital one.
Mohamed Salah, great first touch,
sets up the one-on-one situation with Udogi.
Great block, isn't it?
Super bit of defending, isn't it?
Liverpool's corner early in the game.
And it's gonna come to Maxi McAllister,
who had to go on the volley,
and went with his left foot and didn't quite get the contact he wanted.
That's Sabo Sleip.
It's a very good ball, and there's the pass!
And Gakpo on the turn!
Vicario saves, Robertson denied again by Vicario.
Liverpool so close.
GARY GILLESPIES Well, the first big chance of the game comes Liverpool's way.
Andrew Robertson, as the pass into Gakpo is a little bit too straight at him,
and he has to take that touch.
And in doing so, just gives the angle at the goalkeeper.
The goalkeeper's still got to make a couple of good saves,
both struck really well from Robertson and Gakpo.
GARY GILLESPIES Penalised there with a reaction from the Tottenham players more than anything,
it's a yellow card as well for the Liverpool man.
They are checking for a potential red card here,
and Simon Hooper is going to go and have a look at this.
He's been told to look once again at it by Darren England,
and this is going to change, and it's a red card for Curtis Jones.
And Liverpool once again this season are reduced to ten men.
GARY GILLESPIES Most remember the time when Liverpool reduced to nine men at Tottenham,
on a particularly dark day.
Charlie Adam and Martin Skirtle were sent off, must be about 12 years ago now.
Kenny Dalglish was in charge, that's nice, that's Maddison.
But that's Alisson.
And Liverpool might need him today.
GARY GILLESPIES That looks as if it's bending into the far corner, Alisson has to make the save.
GARY GILLESPIES Anyway, Salah's going to try and run through van de Ven there,
and he's threaded it on for Luis Diaz...
And Luis Diaz!
Oh, it's not going to count, it's a wonderful goal for Liverpool.
And Luis Diaz is just offside.
Well, that's what Liverpool can do on the counter-attack.
Adrian Holmes with the flag.
It's a trailing leg, is it Romero?
GARY GILLESPIES This is a goal for Liverpool, Liverpool have scored here.
The trailing leg.
Well, maybe we were seeing something wrong, weren't we, Gary?
Stretched by Matip, Sobhoslai.
Bissouma robs him.
Challenged by McAllister.
Needed to be, because Sobhoslai had just been caught downfield.
And Salah, responsibly, chipped in to help his team.
And that's a ball for Richarlison, and that's a goal for Sante.
Liverpool are appealing for offside,
but whereas the flag came to Tottenham's rescue a moment or two ago,
it's not coming to Liverpool's rescue here.
JOHN BRADLEY Well, a ball inside Joe Gomez is a difficult one to deal with.
And as soon as he gets the run, it's just about the delivery into the box.
And on this occasion it's a good one by Richarlison, and he's clearly onside.
Harsh this is against, they'll probably be looking at that offside against Luis Diaz
over and over the analysts right now.
Dogi's not stopped, Son trying to dance his way through,
Kulishevski, and Richarlison may profit from it.
And Richarlison once again perhaps should have done better.
Now the flag goes up.
Unless it's Udoge.
GARY GILLESPIE He's come back from off the pitch, hasn't he?
McAllister, it's almost like.
Long for Van Dijk, Matic will go for it, Gakpo trying to turn...
Oh! And he's done so at some cost!
It's a sparkling pirouette to make it 1-1.
JOHN BRADLEY It's a wonderful strike, good little header back by Virgil van Dijk.
Saw the swivel like that against Leicester.
GARY GILLESPIE It's a phenomenal turn and finish by Cody Gakpo,
who you only hope he hasn't suffered a nasty injury here,
because he's just got himself into a great touch in front of goal.
That's brilliant, isn't it? It really is.
That's Joel Matic, and here's Mohamed Salah.
Lewis Diaz will make a run, Salah waiting for support.
A pass for Lewis Diaz!
Oh, what a chance!
What a pass by Salah, and Lewis Diaz will feel he should have scored.
JOHN BRADLEY Well, what a ball by Mohamed Salah,
it's a really good run out from the back from Joel Matic,
and good delivery into the wide area of Mohamed Salah.
But that really is an excellent ball,
and Liverpool should really be going into the interval with a lead at 2-1.
GARY GILLESPIE This is Pedro Porro,
Maddison, Romero, that's nice, that's Maddison.
That's a super save.
You've got to look at this one, did Alisson,
it's another sensational save by quite simply the best goalkeeper there is.
And here's Maddison, Liverpool are backpedalling.
And Udoge, and SAAD ONER!
Does he find these saves? He's incredible.
GARY GILLESPIE And the goalkeeper again, Alisson Becker,
what is he all about?
Unbelievable save yet again.
GARY GILLESPIE Maddison.
Oh, it's a lovely thread with Charlie Cerne,
and Sons there again to squeeze the ball home.
There's no celebrations from Tottenham this time,
because once again the flag is up.
Nah, it's not even close.
That said, we didn't think the one in the first half was that close.
Won't find Salah, no, he's going to go into the book here as Udoge goes down.
That's nicely done by Udoge now,
Diogo Jota's been penalised again,
and Liverpool are going to be reduced to nine men here.
It's two yellow cards in a matter of minutes for Diogo Jota,
and it just gets tougher and tougher from here on in for Liverpool.
GARY GILLESPIE You know what, I don't think there's a great deal of contact,
but it's a lunging challenge in tackle, Udoge certainly makes the most of it.
GARY GILLESPIE Davies,
Alexander-Arnold taken out of the game,
Liverpool might be caught short for the first time,
they've only got nine men, they can't afford to lose.
Anyone caught downfield, it's Kulishevski.
It's Romero, space is wide, it's for Pedro Porro.
It's across the face of goal!
Believe it, he's put it into his own net.
Bonds are finally broken down, and you can only feel for Joel Matip,
who has been a tower of strength for Liverpool today.
It is the cruelest of touches at the cruelest of times.
GARY GILLESPIE Well, they've held out and held out and held out,
and it's a cruel individual blow for Joel Matip,
but it's a massive blow from Liverpool's point of view.
Did he deserve that? Probably not.
Did the team deserve that? Certainly not.
Tottenham Hotspur have the victory, Liverpool have their pride,
but I'm afraid that won't count for nothing at the end of this game.
Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 Liverpool.
