Hi, I'm Daniel Yarguez from FEMA.
On October 4, a warning message will be sent to mobile phones,
televisions, and radios across the country at 2.20 p.m. Eastern Time
as part of our national emergency wireless warning test
and the emergency warning system.
Wireless providers participating in WEA
are forced to deliver this warning message
which will be accompanied by a single tone and vibration.
The test message will say,
This is a test of the national emergency wireless warning system.
No action is required.
For phones configured for translation in Spanish,
the message will also be displayed in Spanish.
Television and radio broadcasters are forced to deliver this test message
with a similar tone.
In association with the Federal Communications Commission
and local public safety authorities,
we are working to keep you safe and informed when each second counts.
So please stay tuned and listen to emergency wireless alerts
on your mobile phones and EAS alerts on your television and radio.
The next alert you receive may include life-saving information.
