Alright guys, this is Carlos and Gabriel from Immortal Guardian and this is our top five tour tips.
Number one, eat healthy and get sleep.
So you're gonna get cranky and people are not gonna really like to hang out with you if you're cranky and if you're sleeping on
a merch table, people are expecting to see you giving attention to them and they will expect you to have a smile on your face.
So if you want to be
impersonable, you don't want to be there for your fans.
You got to be able to sing.
You got to be able to perform on top notch on the top level that you can actually reach.
So be prepared for it. Being on tour is not about being a rock star and partying all the time, really.
If you are a professional musician, you got to take it serious.
So take it serious. Tip number two, which brings us to our next point.
Whoops, oh
Tip number two, time management, you know, speaking of taking things serious, the better you time manage things, the better tour
you're gonna have, you know.
Everything from the big things like soundcheck all the way to the little things like when you should take a shower, you know.
Because it sucks to be in a rush. It sucks to not do things the right way just because you were in a hurry or it
sucks to be late to a show just because you weren't prepared and
you know, you just didn't think about certain things and we like to drive through the night.
So like we, somebody usually, we all sleep as one person drives so that we wake up in the town
we're supposed to be in and we don't like wake up in the morning and try to figure out how to
get there really fast and then there's a
some kind of new problem at the, with the blowout or a checkpoint or not checkpoint, border crossing or something.
Yeah, traffic, like so many things can happen you don't know about so it's just better to like be like really on time and that
usually just takes
breaking, looking at your day and actually putting a little effort to like schedule out what, when, when is what. Which brings us to
our third one, which is? Have a plan A and plan B for everything.
Yes. So think about what if we have a blow, a tire blown out?
What if somebody loses the key for the trailer? What if we don't have time to eat?
What if it's already soundcheck, you haven't eaten and we got to get on stage?
So have a plan A and plan B for everything.
Yeah. Carry little extra packages of, you know, cereal bars or whatever you like to eat
that's fast and easy. All those little things adds up when you're on tour, you know.
So make sure that you do. Map out also gas stations, you know.
Sometimes you're gonna go through West Texas and you're gonna realize that you're not gonna have a gas station for
over a whole entire tank of gas. So you gotta prepare and you'd be ready for that.
Yeah, we've done car tours, bus tours, van tours, like literally every, every kind of tour
there's always some kind of thing that can go wrong. So it's always good to have some kind of plan.
You know, don't go on the road without a credit card. Don't go on the road without so many things. A backup guitar,
that's an easy one. I don't know how many guys have seen one guitar and they just, and that's it. Show's over.
Number four, respect everybody and just, you know, have a general sense of coolness.
You know, when you're touring, you're touring usually with a lot of strangers.
Sometimes you'll repeat with bands that you already know.
But a lot of the times you're touring with a bunch of strangers and everybody's in a really close environment for a long time.
So just the cooler you are and the more you respect everybody in each other's space,
the easier it is to get along and have an awesome tour, show, party, you name it.
So yeah, just don't be a dick and be mindful of everybody's
smelly feet or your, don't, don't eat all the Cheetos, whatever, you know, just
Bring your stinky feet spray. Yeah, don't forget that.
Yeah, just be, be cool and everybody will always, even if it's not said, everybody will love you and respect you and thank you because
it's almost the things that are not said that are the good things, you know.
So don't wait, don't wait, don't wait for things to become a problem. Don't be a dick.
Don't be a dick. Number five, travel light. Bring only the necessary.
You know, sometimes when you overpack, you're taking space from somebody else.
You're taking space that could be better space for you. And sometimes you bring a lot of unnecessary stuff.
Yeah, don't, don't bring a box of, of pedals you might use, you might not.
I don't know. I'm gonna try it out or don't bring like, I don't know, an inflatable doll or whatever.
Just don't bring things you don't need, you know, like I see that happen so much where people bring the, well,
just in case I need these ten pairs of shoes or just in case I need this thing or whatever and
especially when you're touring with your mates or other bands and you're in a venue and
just there's so much gear and things.
It's just like the more people adopt that, the less stuff there'll be everywhere and the more everybody will just be happy.
Social distance your stuff, not you.
Travel light, man. Yeah, remember that.
And that pretty much wraps up our five tour tips. We are Immortal Guardian.
