Today in Sydney, I asked people what country seems the best in the world.
If someone vaguely asked you what seems the best country to you ladies,
apart from your own country, what seems the best country in the world to you ladies?
If there are problems occurring other than Asian countries,
and Asia is the only place to live in, which country would you choose to live in, do you think?
Hello everyone, how are you guys going?
How are you guys doing?
This is Terosek.
In today's video, I would like to talk about what I think is the best country in the world.
I think it's the same in every country, but since I was a kid, I've seen a lot of things, especially in the media.
On TV shows, they say that their country is the best in the world.
I don't think everyone will grow up hearing that their country is the best in the world,
but their country will somehow become the best in the world, right?
So probably for most Japanese people, if you're asked where the best country in the world is,
I think it's Japan.
There aren't many people who start saying USA.
But if you think about it objectively, which country do you think is the best in the world?
Don't you want to know?
I'm asking you, so I want to know.
If you're watching this video, you have to include Japan in your choices.
Which country do you think is the best in the world?
Today, I asked a person who lives in Sydney, Australia, where people from all over the world have moved to,
which country do you think is the best in the world other than your country?
Which country do you think is the ideal country?
And why is that?
And is it possible for Japan to get into that country?
I'm going to do an interview where I can learn English while knowing that.
On my channel, I post videos about foreign people and English learning every week.
Just by looking at it, your mind will definitely be globalized.
If you think it's interesting, please subscribe to my channel.
So let's get started today.
Zurich is above, but it's one of them.
And I can hear a bit of a French accent from you. Do you speak French?
Yeah.
What languages do Swiss people speak?
German, French, and Romance.
Romance?
And a little bit of Italian.
So many languages.
Today in Sydney, I asked people what country seems the best in the world.
I know everyone likes their own country so much.
But let's say if someone suddenly asks you,
Hey, what country do you think is the best in the world apart from your country?
How do you think you answer this question?
I would say Denmark.
Denmark?
Okay, I've actually been to Denmark a long, long time ago.
What makes you think that Denmark is the one?
I like the vibe and people are just chill.
Seem pretty nice.
I would like to say Italy because I'm Italian.
Oh, you have an Italian background?
Yes.
All my whole family is Italian, yes.
But I was born in Switzerland and lived always there.
But if I have to say another country because it's not my country...
Yeah, you already know what I want to ask.
I would say Australia.
Why do you think Australia is the one?
I think it's a balance.
I really like that it's very organized and it's also chill vibe with the beaches.
It's a very good balance, I think.
It's got everything and balanced.
Yes.
Okay, so what about this though?
Okay, let's say there were problems occurring outside Asia
and Asia is the only place that you can live now.
In this case, which country would you choose to live in Asian countries?
I would say Korea.
Korea?
Yeah.
Because you like BTS?
No, I never...
You never listened to them?
No, never.
Okay, why do you choose Korea?
I don't know very well the country but it seems to be a nice country with a nice food, nice vibe.
Okay, all right.
And you?
Honestly, I didn't visit the Asian part so I think I would say Thailand maybe.
Thailand?
Yeah.
What makes you think so?
The landscapes, the beaches and yeah.
It can be a little bit close to Australia, yeah?
It's Asia but the party vibes, beaches and people are really smiling all the time.
I think Thailand is a good place.
I've been there three times and it's really nice.
Where do you think I am from?
Oh, it's difficult.
Honestly, I have no idea.
Oh, really?
Yeah, from Vietnam.
Vietnam?
I don't know.
Okay.
Japan.
Japan?
Yeah.
I'm Japanese, correct.
Okay.
So if you could have chosen your country, Switzerland,
would you have chosen your country as the best country in the world?
Yeah.
Okay.
I would say.
No, I wouldn't say that.
Okay.
Why do you think Switzerland is the best?
It's, I think, a good country where it's nice to live and the government help the population.
But yeah, I like the country.
Okay.
I know Switzerland is a very safe country as well.
And it's a beautiful country.
But what's missing from Switzerland?
Why it's not the best?
I think the vibe, the kindness of people.
Are people a little bit cold?
Yes, yes.
And all polite, but less warm.
I'm Italian, so maybe I need someone.
Italians are so close to people, yeah?
Friendly.
Okay.
That was interesting.
And merci beaucoup.
What country are you from?
G'day.
Nice to meet you.
From Sydney, Australia.
Country Australia.
Sydney, Australia.
Born and raised?
Came from Chile.
Oh, really?
Came when I was a little, little kid.
So I've been here for a long, long, long time.
In this video here in Sydney, I asked people,
what seems the best country to them and the world?
You know, it's very abstract question.
But I feel like everyone grew up hearing people or media saying,
our country is the best.
Our country is the best.
So I assume that people generally like their own country.
But if someone suddenly asked you vaguely,
hey, what seems the best country in the world to you?
Apart from Australia and let's say Chile as well.
What country would you choose?
Also Australia.
No, good question you asked there.
Look, I think everyone's going to have a bias towards their own country.
Okay.
So depending on where you were raised predominantly.
So I do feel that Australia from the travel that I've done,
which is not extensive, but from the travel that I've done,
I feel that Australia is just a more easygoing.
I feel that it has sensible structure when it comes to order
and a sense of well-being in this country with governance,
when it comes to education,
a system that seems to work when it comes to tidiness and support,
regardless of what socio-economic status you have.
So I think I believe a lot of people globally feel that they want to come and live
and actually become a resident of this country
because of the systems that I mentioned.
It's very fair, isn't it?
It's fair.
Yes, you raise a good point.
For me, basically, having gone to a particular subject in uni,
which is the power distance between people,
I feel that everyone here is generally around the same.
There's equality when it comes to...
Even if you're a highly educated, let's say, professor,
you can still feel very comfortable just being mates or friends with,
let's say, anyone within the trade industry, for example.
Whereas I feel that perhaps in other countries,
that might be seen differently in terms of whether you're a trade
or you're, let's say, a neurosurgeon, for example,
there might be a bit of a differentiator there.
But here in Australia, we all feel that we've got a fair go
to try and study whatever we want and accomplish and achieve what we can.
The right systems are here.
It's a safe country, generally speaking.
I have been to countries before that has a stereotype of being less safe,
for example, in some parts of South America.
But here we have an excellent system that I'm very proud of.
I think that's an important thing.
I've been very proud of being Australian.
I've been to South America.
I've been to the Americas.
I've been to parts of Asia.
I haven't been to Europe.
I just get a sense that from what I look up online or what I know of
or people that I interact with,
I do feel that there are some European countries,
let's say the more Swedish, Switzerland, that sort of region.
I feel that perhaps their governance system and politics and fairness for people
is probably even more superior than Australia, I think.
Like social welfare-wise?
Social welfare-wise, opportunities, education, the whole system,
the amount of tax that you pay is obviously perceived to be quite high,
even though we're quite high here.
I think there's other countries that you pay even more tax,
but at the end of the day, the system works there
and it seems to be a nice, fair system.
Like you said, more of the Scandinavian-type countries, I think.
Scandinavian-types of countries.
That's what we've heard on the TV news as well.
Sometimes they're pretty fair as well in those countries
and you get lots of opportunities and education's good, obviously.
But okay, let's say if there were problems occurring outside Asia then,
because I'm from one of the Asian countries,
so you don't have to guess where I am from at this moment.
I'll take a little guess, I guess.
Oh, really? Okay.
Okay, and then if there are problems occurring other than Asian countries
and Asia is the only place to live in,
which country would you choose to live in, do you think?
Okay, my first answer straight away,
purely because I feel that there's some sort of a connection
I've had either through film, through art,
specifically when it comes to Samurai.
So you know where I'm going with this?
Japan?
Samurai culture.
Japan.
100%.
I feel there's a culture there that's swayed heavily on tradition
and ethics and values and respect for elders.
Again, I haven't visited.
My brother has just recently.
Loved it very much, Japan.
I think more so the art, what I've seen on TV,
has just resonated with me as a child.
Interestingly enough, I know it's a bit of a side conversation,
but if I were ever to get a tattoo,
it would be something Japanese influenced.
Oh, really?
I think it's just something that you feel more so than think.
So yes, my answer would be if it was within the Asia region, Japan for sure.
Okay, so where am I from?
Well, taking a guess, I would say Japan.
Not so much Korea.
I think more so Japan.
You got the cool little samurai, you know?
Facial hair going on his head.
Do I look like samurai?
Yes, I am from Japan.
That was interesting.
Yeah, good guess.
Very good guess.
I'm from Japan.
I hope you can go to Japan one day and you'll see the real...
It's not too far.
It's not too expensive as well now.
Yeah, thank you very much.
That was a good education.
You're very welcome.
Thank you.
Enjoy your day.
Yeah, good talking.
Where are you ladies from?
Australia.
And what have you been up to today?
You're having a nice drink and...
Yeah, we've had lunch and came to the city for the day.
Okay.
That was fun.
Yeah.
What Aussie people eat for lunch?
Well, we had sushi today.
Oh, really?
Yeah.
Oh, you're a sushi fan?
Yeah.
Okay, I like sushi as well, aye.
Okay, so in this video here in Sydney, I asked people what seems the best country to them.
If someone vaguely asks you what seems the best country to you ladies,
apart from your own country, what seems the best country in the world to you ladies?
I would probably say Scotland.
Scotland?
Yeah.
That's deep. I need to ask you why.
Well, my family's from there.
Oh, really?
And I think it's just everyone there is really nice and welcoming.
Well, I'm glad that you don't have a Scottish accent because if you have a Scottish accent,
that's going to be a little bit tricky for me to understand.
Yeah.
What about you?
I'd probably say New Zealand.
New Zealand.
How come?
Well, my family's from there.
Oh, really?
Yeah, and I really like going there.
Yeah, you've been there many times?
Yeah.
Yeah, okay.
It's fun. There's so much to do there.
So much to do there.
But what about this situation though?
If there were like problems occurring outside Asia,
and Asia is the only place that you can live in, in that case, which country would you choose to live?
Maybe like Japan?
Japan?
Yeah.
Interesting.
Because you like sushi?
A bit of that, yeah.
Yeah, a bit of that.
And do you have any other reasons?
Well, my family friend's from Japan and she says it's very nice over there.
Oh, okay.
Yeah.
Oh, nice.
What about you?
I'd want to live in Korea.
Korea?
Because you like BTS?
No, I just think it's like a really interesting culture.
Oh, okay.
Interesting.
Okay, interesting.
I am actually from Japan, so thank you very much.
Okay, last question.
So if you could have chosen your own country,
would you have chosen your own country, do you think, as a best country in the world?
Probably one in like the top five, yes.
Oh, but maybe not the top, top?
Not like top, top, because I like a lot of the other countries more like scenic-wise and people-wise.
Oh, really?
But Australia is very safe and the people are very nice here.
Yeah, that's what she said.
Yeah.
Oh, really?
I agree.
Oh, I thought you guys were going to say, oh, Australia's the best.
Okay.
It's nice.
Australia's good.
Australia is good, but there are many good countries as well.
Okay, interesting.
Thank you very much, ladies.
Enjoy your day.
I was not supposed to wear sunnies because it's not really shiny, shiny,
but these legends looking pretty cool with the sunnies.
So I decided to put on my sunnies as well.
And thank you very much for your help.
Where are you from?
We are from India.
India.
And you've been in Australia for a long time now?
Not much.
It's like, this is our third month, second month.
What do you do here?
Actually, we are a VFX artist.
We are working for the Hollywood movies.
Oh, really?
Yeah.
Wow.
So we work like movies in Fast and Furious 9, Fast and Furious 10, Avenger Endgames,
and a lot more movies.
That's one of the most exciting occupations, isn't it?
Yeah, definitely.
We love our job and it's like really amazing.
And like, we enjoy our job.
Yeah, that's the main thing.
You know, that's what you have to do.
In this video in Sydney, I asked people, what seems the best country in the world?
I think since we are kids, everyone's the same,
but we grew up hearing people saying or media saying that our country is the best.
Our country is the best.
So I assume everyone loves our own country.
But if someone asks you vaguely, except your country,
what do you think is the best country in the world?
That's a tricky question.
One of the difficult questions because I love my India,
but Sydney is like, Australia is my dream country.
I always wanted to be here.
What makes you want to come here?
Actually, I know only about the circular key, the bridge.
I love that.
Harbour bridge.
Yes.
And the atmosphere is really nice.
Okay.
Yes.
And food is good.
Food is good.
Yeah.
We can find the Indian food also.
So I liked Australia.
But like, before that, I've been to UK.
So UK was really good.
Oh, really?
So far, like I do photography.
So in terms of photography, I always wanted to go places like Iceland.
There are a lot many parts of Europe.
Like also we have some countries here in like Bali and all.
But the UK was comfortable?
UK was really amazing.
Like I spent a couple of years there.
It was really great.
And I'm looking forward to go there again.
Yeah.
You know, like I'm a big fan of curry as well.
Like I'm pretty sure you guys like curry.
But UK has one of the greatest curry in the world.
Don't you think so?
Which curry you are talking about?
Like...
I'm sorry about that.
No, no.
I had a lot many foods there.
So honestly, like my favorite was fish and chips that we can get everywhere.
That's authentic British food.
When I went there, I saw many curry shops there.
And I tried it.
It was pretty good.
So I was like, okay, they got that nice, you know, curry.
But maybe they're different curry from your curry, hey?
Yeah.
Hopefully, like it must be from some part of the world.
Because like I've hardly seen like people like traditionally making curries there.
Oh, okay.
Let's say there are problems occurring outside Asia.
And Asia is the only place that you can live in now.
Which country do you think you're gonna choose to live in?
I was there once in Singapore and Malaysia.
Yeah?
Yeah.
So I think Singapore is really good.
I know that is very expensive country.
But I love the buildings, weather and atmosphere, all the things.
Oh really?
Yeah.
I love the parks over there.
And there is a lot of places to travel in Singapore.
And that is very much like close to Malaysia also.
Yeah, okay.
I have a question for you, like where you come from?
Yeah, I was gonna ask you now.
Where do you think I'm from?
Malaysia.
Malaysia?
Yes.
Hong Kong?
Japan.
Yeah.
Is it difficult?
I'm close.
You're close.
Is it difficult to distinguish?
A little bit.
We have one friend here in Sydney.
She's also from Japan.
Yeah.
It's a bit similar and a little bit confusing to distinguish between the Malaysian and Japanese.
Okay.
You need to see a bit more Japanese people, right?
Okay.
Thank you very much, guys.
Thank you.
Enjoy your job in Australia.
What country are you from?
I'm from England.
Yep.
And you've been in Australia for a long time now?
Yes, I've been here three years now.
Oh, quite a long time.
But I can still feel you're a bit of a British accent.
Do I sound British?
Yeah, definitely.
Okay.
What do you usually do for your career?
Just do my best.
Oh my gosh.
Just do your best.
I like it.
Today, I asked people what country seems the best in the world for them.
Because, you know, I think we all grew up hearing,
our country is the best, our country is the best.
Because of that, I know, I assume people love their own country.
But if suddenly someone asks you what seems the best country in the world apart from the UK,
how would you answer to this question?
I don't even think I'd say the UK, if I'm being honest.
Oh, I mean, you're from the UK, right?
I'm from the UK, but that's not the best country.
Oh, really?
No offence to anyone British.
I would say Thailand.
Thailand?
I really like Thailand.
I've been there and it was amazing.
Everyone was good vibes.
Everyone was just so kind.
Okay.
Yeah, and it was fun.
Oh, interesting.
So how many countries have you been so far?
In my life?
Yeah, have you been much?
27 countries.
27 countries for your occupation or your travel?
No, I just like to live life.
You just like to live life.
I like how you answer the question.
You know, we're learning English from you.
Where are you from?
I was going to literally talk about it.
But let me ask you one more question.
Let's say, except Thailand, there were problems occurring in the world outside Asia.
And Asia is the only place that you can live.
What country would you choose except Thailand as well?
Well, I used to live in China, Beijing.
Yeah, so I'd probably go back.
It was pretty cool.
Oh, really?
Yeah, it was really nice.
I'd probably maybe go to Shanghai this time.
It's the last question.
Where do you think I am from?
I'm really not good with like where people are from in countries.
Okay.
You give Hong Kong vibes or the Philippines?
Philippines?
I really don't know.
Mongolia.
Okay, I'm from Japan.
Have you been to Japan before?
I actually know lots of Japanese people.
But yeah, I've never been to Japan.
Thank you.
Enjoy your day.
Thank you.
I was talking about an Australian uncle.
Scandinavian countries.
When people ask me where the best country in the world is,
I can't think of Sweden right away.
But when I hear that, I think of the ease of living,
the peace,
and the abundance of social welfare.
When I think about it like that,
I think of Scandinavia,
which is the first country in Sweden.
By the way, for those of you who are watching this video,
if you were asked a vague question like
where do you think is the best country in the world except Japan,
what do you think I would answer?
