What's up, guys? I'm Nick. This is Emma. We're in Prism. This is Alana. She's in Party Nails.
We're here to talk about the first concert that we ever went to growing up. I will start.
Let's see. The first concert I ever went to... I didn't go to any concerts until I was in college. I was 18.
You came with me to my first concert.
I was there.
You were there.
That's really exciting.
It was... Who was it? It was a dubstep show.
Flux Pavilion.
It was Flux Pavilion, Dr. P, and Funkcase.
That's what you thought all concerts were.
I thought all concerts were just dubstep DJs because I was a very rave kid.
You didn't know anything else.
I was a super rave kid. But I don't know. I didn't wear earplugs. I didn't know anything about hearing protection.
We were in the front row.
I wore earplugs.
Headbanging.
We were headbanging.
I don't know. I think... But I also think... I mean, we are obviously an electronically rooted band.
I love electronic music. Always will. From the really hard stuff to the more mellow stuff.
I think that just solidified my love for it. I loved it. It was great.
That's cute.
My first concert experience was my dad running sound at a Smash Mouth concert at the Sonoma County Fair when I was about...
I think I was probably 12.
Wow. You started me off.
It was a really exciting time. I was backstage. I got to meet them. I didn't know which ones were them.
So I just assumed everyone I met was in the band.
Thinking back, I don't think any of them were in the band.
It was all the sound guys.
They were just all the sound guys.
I have the lyrics to their hit All Star on my shirt right now.
I'm still a fan. Clearly.
Made Nick wear this shirt.
Yeah, it was a good time. I wouldn't say that that was what got me into music.
It's what got me into earplugs.
And also what got me out of wearing all black.
Because I blended in with the sound guys and got stepped on many times.
So I just continued to wear bright colors after that.
That sounds really stressful.
It was really stressful. I was only 12.
My first concert, I was 8.
And my best friend, who I absolutely adored, whose name was also Emma, but it wasn't this Emma.
She doesn't adore me.
I do adore her.
Different Emma.
She was 8 and obsessed with Tori Amos.
And Tori Amos was on a co-headline tour with Alanis Morissette.
So Emma took us for our 8th birthday.
Because we have birthdays close together.
And I remember I had no idea who these people were.
I thought Tori Amos was a boy.
And I was very confused when it wasn't.
And we also stopped at a KFC along the way.
And I also didn't know what KFC was.
I was just like, what is it?
How do you say it?
KFC?
What is that?
It's KFC.
KFC Musgraves?
KFC Musgraves.
I just remember being in the bed.
So we were so little that her mama and dada set up beds for us.
So that we could sleep on the way there and on the way back.
Which was really sweet.
But it was earth shattering for me.
This was two incredible songwriter women who were just fronting their own bands.
And were already on their third records each or something.
And I was just like, the whole time.
And then I was like, what is KFC though?
Because I've never seen mashed potatoes and gravy.
I'm still not getting it.
What does it stand for?
I grew up without any cable TV.
Kentucky Fried Chicken?
I think that might be what it stands for.
Kentucky?
Kentucky.
Kentucky Fried Chicken.
So it was beautiful.
It was wonderful.
Sounds wonderful.
Yeah, Emma fell asleep.
The other one.
The other Emma.
I was there for everybody's first concert.
