Hi everybody, welcome back to the Cindy Acrylic Blanks series.
We are going to be doing the off-road vehicle with the bow.
The fun thing with the Cindy Acrylic Blanks is that they all come with a cut file.
So you'll see here that I'm going to go ahead and grab that cut file so I can upload it into Design Space.
Now that I've got it on my canvas, I'm going to ungroup the file and I'm going to delete the black piece,
which is the size of the acrylic blank, and I don't want that.
And I'm going to go ahead and cut my Jeep body and the bow.
I'm using my Cricut Joy to do this project, and I'm going to be using a different type of vinyl that I will need the mat to do so.
So I've selected the Joy on my Bluetooth, and I'm going to select the premium holographic vinyl.
And instead of the default setting, I'm just going to set it to cut a little bit higher.
So now I've got my cute little tiny mat to go with my Cricut Joy, and the mat does come with the Joy.
And I'm going to go ahead and place my premium holographic vinyl onto the mat.
I want to give you a heads up about this vinyl.
This is a very cute vinyl. It's so pretty, but it is a beast to weed.
So just want to give you that heads up. It's a beautiful vinyl.
I will not stop using it. However, just have some patience when it comes to weeding.
So the Cricut Joy does not have the Cricut button on there for you to press to unload and upload your mat and all of that.
You will press it on your app.
And so the Cricut Joy works with any iPad or mobile device or laptop as long as you have the Bluetooth feature.
On to the blanks. So we're going to be using the off-road vehicle, like I said, with the bow.
And make sure whenever you start your blanks that you prep them.
And I prep them by removing the film over it, and I'm going to use a nail file to kind of scratch it up.
And then I'll spray it with alcohol to clean any dust or debris.
I picked up today's glitter from a vinyl shop that's in town, and it's called Ballet Slippers by Glitter Chip.
Today's method of glitter application will be simply putting glitter and UV resin and mixing it together and then applying it to your actual acrylic blank.
Now that you've got your glitter laid out the way you want it, go ahead and place it under a UV lamp for about three minutes.
I'm going to select the 60 second mark three times.
Typically, you'll see me use liquid latex to protect the side of the blank that already has the glitter on it.
But today I am going to use painter's tape. I had a batch of painter's tape that wasn't that great.
So instead of throwing it away, I'm going to use it instead of the liquid latex.
And it's also good because there are some people that are allergic to latex.
So for these blanks, I will not have to provide that disclaimer.
So I'm going to flip it over and now I'm just going to prep this side of the blank.
Again, using my nail file to buff off the shiny of the acrylic and then spray it with alcohol to clean it off.
So like I said, this vinyl is a little difficult to weed.
So we're going to do the reverse method two ways on this acrylic blank.
The first way is to go ahead and just peel off the tire parts while it is on the transfer tape.
Once we do that, we'll go ahead and place the whole piece onto the acrylic blank.
And then we would weed off the windows while it's sitting on the acrylic blank.
I just found this to be the easiest method to reverse weed with this vinyl for this blank.
Before I apply my bow, I'm going to poke out the hole for my hardware.
Since I had a little difficulty getting the bow off of the sticky paper,
I went ahead and just peeled each piece off individually and placed them one by one onto the truck.
We are ready to apply our top coat of UV resin.
So go ahead and apply a layer of UV resin.
And you can use some rolled up painter's tape or some silicone to block the hole to ensure that you don't get any UV resin in there.
And just slowly take your time to apply the resin evenly and smooth it all over the blank.
Then you will cure it for about three minutes.
Apply a second coat and do the same thing.
Taking your time, making sure that you have a nice even layer,
go ahead and let it sit for about two or three minutes before you apply it under the UV light
so that any bubbles that may be there can go ahead and rise to the top.
You can use a lighter or a torch to pop those little bubbles.
You could spritz it with some alcohol. That will work too.
And then you can cure it for three minutes.
Right now that it is all cured, you can go ahead and remove the painter's tape and prepare to apply your hardware.
So I am using a heavy duty jump ring that I got from my local craft store.
And basically you'll just twist it open, apply the blank, apply the keychain,
and then using the twisting method, close your jump ring.
Now is a good time to apply a charm.
It's not necessary, but you know, if you've got a little something extra that you want to put on there,
this is a great time to do it.
And that's it. Thank you so much for watching.
I really appreciate it.
