----- I'd Love You to Want Me Lobo
When I saw you standing there
I 'bout fell out my chair
And when you moved your mouth to speak
I felt the blood go to my feet
Now it took time for me to know
What you tried so not to show
Something in my soul just cries
I see the want in your blue eyes
Baby I'd love you to want me
The way that I want you
The way that it should be
Baby You'd love me to want you
The way that I want to
If you'd only let it be
You told yourself years ago
You'd never let your feeling show
The obligation that you made
For the title that they gave
Now it took time for me to know
What you tried so not to show
Now something in my soul just cries
I see the want in your blue eyes
"**I'd Love You to Want Me**" is a song by American singer-songwriter Lobo . It was released in September 1972 as the second single from his second album _Of a Simple Man_.
The song was Lobo's highest charting hit on the _Billboard_ Hot 100 chart, where it spent two weeks at No. 2 in November. The single was the second of four of his songs to hit No. 1 on the Easy Listening "Adult Contemporary (chart)") chart, where it had a one-week stay at that top spot in December 1972 "List of number-one adult contemporary singles of 1972 (U.S.)"). It became a gold record.
When released in the United Kingdom in 1972, the song failed to reach the UK Singles Chart; however, a re-release of the single in 1974, on the UK record label, peaked at No. 5.
The song also topped the music charts in at least seven nations, including Australia (Kent Music Report, two weeks), Canada (_RPM Magazine, one week), and Germany (Media Control Charts, 13 weeks in 1973–1974).
