Hello and welcome to the garden channel.
For the start of the video, a little dive in the Fusalis field and the Fusalis main harvest now at the end of September in really golden September.
We have wonderful weather today, you can be on the road in a t-shirt.
What's on the plan? The garden work for September, so a lot of harvesting.
We'll take a look at the beds again, can we clean up something, can we clean up something, how does it go on?
And other topics. I wish you a lot of fun with the video and I'll dive in again now.
What to consider when harvesting Fusalis?
So first of all, if you have watered the sheds here, greetings go out to me, to the past Max and to Grandma,
don't throw my plants back here, because they are a bit confusing.
We don't just collect both plants here, but also really from the ground.
From the ground, a row of Fusalis falls down here from time to time.
And even if the cover is not as beautifully colored, they are really durable.
When you open it, you can see whether the story is still good, lazy or moldy.
So, the second story we consider, now we come to the plants.
There are such yellow lampions hanging here.
They are not quite as parchment-like and dried yet,
but when it slowly turns to frost and really late autumn, you can also take these specimens.
As a rule, they are already nice, orange and ripe and a bit sour.
Nevertheless, a very tasty, tasty story.
I would say, the harvest can definitely be seen.
Once in a while a green one has slipped in, a few are eaten directly and the rest is maybe made into jam or cake.
There are still a lot of lampions hanging on Fusalis.
Look how well they are stocked this season and have become huge specimens again.
But whether all of this will still be ripe, yes, I dare to doubt.
Another harvest, right next to it, is available at plant No. 1.
Here we made a small autumn seedling again and it also came up,
because we missed the whole season, the wild arugula, which looks like in my garden.
Well, a little late.
There we see it, between radishes, yellow flowers and in taste, I have to say it again and again,
nutty, intense, delicious.
No comparison with the rauke you get in the supermarket.
And the radishes, you don't get them in the supermarket either,
because we have the variety of radishes here.
You can talk to me again, at least I haven't seen them in the supermarket yet.
And as the loyal viewers of the channel know, this is grandpa's favorite radishes variety.
I have sown it here again.
So harvest a little bit here, in any case.
And yes, making the high bed winter or autumn hard is not really possible at these temperatures.
And of course we have to harvest it first.
Then I see, in between, we have already shown,
an early set of rock lettuce has already come up, also grows wildly.
This is such a rock lettuce with a bit of long leaves,
they don't have to be the classic ball rounds.
Tasty story, I also harvest a bit.
Yes, and the couple here will reach grandpa for the festival this evening, he is looking forward to it.
Yes folks, here in high bed number two it looks a bit sad.
I have planted pumpkins again.
Let's see where it leads you.
Meanwhile also leafless.
It swallowed into the fence.
And now, oh, let's take a look over there together.
Maybe the camera can swing over there.
There is something, we're going there now.
Of course we also need appropriate tools.
And what kind of variety it is, I'll explain to you in a moment, come with me.
Yes, there it is, the pumpkin.
We can drum on it right away.
I'm excited, the cameraman is also excited.
Grandpa is ...
Feel free to write it in the comments, pause the video now.
Not excited.
Why?
Grandpa likes pumpkins in a uniform size.
It is moved from two full ones to a larger Hokkaido.
And preferably Hokkaido.
Yes, it is orange.
Here we have the variety Boston Marrow.
It is considered an ancient native variety of North America.
It was rediscovered around 1850.
And yes, I thought to myself, let's build on it.
A edible pumpkin, not a pumpkin.
How it tastes, how long you can store it, I can't give you any experience.
But the stem has definitely become quite chubby.
The skin is nice and firm.
It has also added weight.
It is well wrinkled on the outside.
It has all the characteristics that an old fruit body should look like.
And accordingly, since we only have a few leaves hanging here,
nothing more over there on the other side,
it comes off and is stored.
And we really need the scissors for that.
Look at the magnificent part here.
Of course, we also have a topic that we have to address.
Pumpkins of this size, when they lie down here, are very moist.
More water collects.
And yes, when the growth or maturity is completed here,
something can of course become lazy or moldy down here.
Therefore, it is best to put something under such large pumpkins and melons.
Maybe straw, a potato sack or a foam pillow.
There are different possibilities.
Or put a stone under it.
But this one, I think it weighs well over 5 kilos.
I'll weigh it for you at home and show you.
It's coming with me now.
And a few more pumpkin varieties.
Hanging with very small fruit bodies or with some that have not yet made it.
Also still in the fence.
And also the calabash, which is already a bit full of flour dough,
has made itself quite neat again.
For example, we can hang something there too.
We continue with the walled high bed.
Yes, here we have replanted a bit of lettuce again.
It has grown up in the meantime and is in good shape.
The radicchio is still a bit very small.
There will probably be nothing left of it.
Yes, and the tomato here has grown up wildly.
Stood tip-top there.
But the brown foil has closed.
So it can also get out of here now.
And what else do we have here?
I just see.
There is even forgotten garlic coming up again.
You can now also, if you have it so bushy,
separate and move.
But now out with the tomato here.
Already a bit further
are the plants over here.
That looks pretty neat.
A kind of frisee salad came into the high bed.
It's doing great, it's fine there.
And next to it we have sugarcane again.
Here I have the last day, when it was always very dry,
watered, also scattered coffee seeds again and again.
And what did I just discover?
Take a look.
Here I had the saffron in it last year.
And it's coming up right now.
Here in the middle of the picture to see,
that's a saffron drive.
That's really the same with saffron
like with the potatoes.
You always forget such a bud
or onion in the ground.
And then something comes up again next year.
A good meter next to it,
we don't have a replant,
but an old plant.
It's been in the garden for a while.
And I think you can also see quite well
what this is all about.
Small, round, red fruits hang on here.
Excellent, sweet and delicious.
Here we have a tomato plant,
namely the phylamina variety.
I still have two tomato varieties,
I'll show you the other one afterwards,
which are still upright in the garden this season.
On the one hand the phylamina,
the others next to it have been gone for weeks
because of brown and weeds.
It also got a little bit of something.
But it's still super upright.
And look how full it hangs,
from bottom to top, still full.
And it even continues to bloom,
further growth.
Everything that is a bit very brownish here,
I pluck off and put away.
But still great tomatoes
and that at the end of September, great.
And now let's go to the next variety,
because the plant has grown wildly.
In the middle of the harvested potato bed
it came up.
I also discovered it very late.
And you see, it was lying on the ground
for a long time.
Here we also have a cocktail tomato.
And the fruits stay here
so yellowish,
fully ripe,
also very, very sweet.
Over there we have more.
Here we have the Bianca variety.
It also did well last year.
The little cocktail tomatoes
are also pretty to look at.
And since the plant grew up wildly
in the garden by itself
and got no care,
the seeds that are in there
are very interesting for me,
for the further propagation.
And then next year we will have
early Bianca in the garden again.
That can be seen.
Do you still have tomatoes in the open
or generally in the garden?
Feel free to leave a comment
and write your favorite varieties
in the comments.
Yes, people, bad news
from the Chinese cabbage.
A little bit of eating,
but not so much.
Two plants came out
completely.
The rest is still a little bit.
Maybe you should harvest it.
Yes, at first you think
too little water.
Here, buckets or mice or something.
But now it comes with.
Complete rootstock, everything eaten.
And there we have a bad guy.
Larvae of the cabbage fly.
Yes, they can still
occur so late.
And as you can see,
a complete Chinese cabbage head.
Make flat.
Yes, that's a little disappointment.
The grandparents
have also just arrived in the garden.
And what are they doing?
Let's take a quick look.
They clean the raspberries.
Grandma works,
Grandpa in front.
This is autumn, the first time
I don't know where they come from.
I have no idea where the autumn raspberries come from.
Only summer raspberries.
It's the first time.
The shoots that have grown this year
at the summer raspberries
stay, get isolated
as you can see.
And then tied up a little later.
Grandma makes a little bit
free beforehand.
Farm wind and all the stuff out.
So that it's easier for Grandpa
to cut off and isolate.
The last few years
there have always been a few
replanting attempts with bush beans.
And you see,
that was very successful this year.
They hang well.
Five days is October, so harvest bush beans in October
can be possible.
What do you have to keep in mind?
It should be noted that the beans
are also popular with the animals.
The two or three leafy pairs
really had a lot of snails on them.
I had to take a good look.
I can also see something back there.
There we have again
a calf
caught on fresh tarp.
And otherwise, I think you can see,
there's a lot of stuff hanging here.
This is a
blue variety,
the purple tippy, my favorite
blue bush bean variety.
The snails also like to eat with it.
And then of course it is also important to note
that we have to sow this in time.
What does it mean in time?
Here you would say,
end of July,
maybe even the first week of August,
when you have such an extremely warm
and sunny September again.
Then the story can definitely be something else.
Otherwise, just from May,
when you start sowing bush beans,
every two weeks,
make a seedling,
a harvest,
and you can really decorate bed areas
that become free again.
And now on to the harvest.
I'm looking forward to it.
Of course, such small beans
should stay hanging.
Let's see if they can still
reach harvest size.
Otherwise, we have a bucket
almost full of the purple tippy.
Yes, every now and then
we have something eaten here,
then we have to cut it away
or sort it out.
But I'm really happy with it.
Great harvest, unexpected.
And normally you wouldn't have used
the bed area at all.
I don't think
there will be a big giant pumpkin.
As I can see here, the stem
has already dried up extremely.
I'll do a little tour again
and check again what's going on.
Calabash, everything looks
pretty good here.
Yes, that doesn't look good at all.
I'll show you that in close up
now
what it's all about.
Here at this point,
the stem is more than
knurled.
It shouldn't be like that.
We can already see that it is
soft here, there may even be
a bit of mold.
So it is not long-lasting.
You should use it as
soon as possible.
And here we have the following scenario.
I'll write the name of the variety below.
There we have such a long pumpkin.
And yes,
look what happened.
There they ate
snails.
So we have to use it a little faster.
I'll take it off.
Yes, that's really
a shame.
So great,
extraordinary shape, of course,
here. But
this was actually
the second fertilization
of the plant.
I already had two fruit bodies from the calabash
and they were also eaten by snails.
Of course in early summer.
Yes,
accordingly, it probably falls out
a bit from the cultivation.
I would say that
snail-prone pumpkins
are not the most optimal.
In general, snail-free is not optimal.
But it doesn't have to be a pumpkin.
Now I'll check something here with the Hokkaido.
There's probably
another one coming away.
And I'll say they're pretty perfect
harvested now. Here in the shade
I can show you the pumpkins a little better.
So, with the Hokkaido
four beautiful pieces have been added here.
Style, nicely dried,
not soft inside,
not lazy, not moldy or something.
I'm very satisfied with that now.
Yes, here,
I already mentioned that.
I'll take an overview now.
And otherwise
I would have to
write you about it.
In any case, here is the larger
Hokkaido in comparison.
This is definitely not a Hokkaido.
Name of variety hidden.
Yes, as already shown,
this pumpkin variety
is no longer in cultivation.
But it also weighs a lot.
Now I'm curious about the taste
and what the interior looks like.
What kind of pumpkin varieties did you have
this year in cultivation? Feel free to leave a comment.
Also feel free to comment
what you are currently doing in the garden.
You have seen that we still have
a lot to harvest.
If the garden is made winter-proof,
there will also be a lot more to do.
