Well then, visit autodeal.com.ph Select the car that you want and choose to request for a quote from our network of over 500 official dealer partners nationwide Within minutes, you'll start receiving offers from the dealers you've selected All that's left is for you to select the deal that's best for you Get the best deal on Autodeal At the 2022 Philippine International Motor Show The IONIQ 5 from Hyundai piqued a lot of interest People were interested about when, how much, what the power is All the questions that normally come with an automobile Even Jack, every time we pass this thing inside the motor show He was giddy like a school girl I literally saw his ears clap His ears were really clapping So, it might surprise you for me to tell you that there was no actual launch See, Hyundai actually launched the automobile at the motor show And it was weird for me So, when we got our hands on this automobile I asked them how long it would take if before we actually show this video And they said, well immediately of course And that's because people have already ordered and paid for this automobile In fact, the first shipment is coming in the first No, that's second week of February And then the second shipment should come in about mid-March So this is already basically a car that you should be able to see on the roads immediately And that is very exciting However, if you want to stick around or rather if you have a lot of questions about this car before you purchase it I'm glad you're here because we want to answer as many questions as possible Number one, the price. The biggest thing Okay, this particular model right here we're looking at is the extended range. There are two models coming in This extended range comes in at just under 3,700,000 Philippine Pesos So at that price you're thinking, okay EV still quite on the expensive side Then, there's the standard range That comes in under 3,100,000 Philippine Pesos For all this technology, EV That is not a bad price at all And ladies and gentlemen, please just look at the automobile It screams, now this isn't my turn, this is Jack's turn but I love it It screams retro-futuristic, doesn't it? From the paint, to the front, to the sides, to the wheels, to the lines of the automobile It is retro-futuristic Let's go around the car, shall we? Let's start obviously up front You've got LED headlamps across But very very square LED headlamps And I'm not talking about there's a roundness to it, no It's so sharp inside The last time I saw something so boxy when it comes to lights was that That's the last time I saw something so boxy We're gonna blur out the plate number of that guy, right? Anyway, so back to the LEDs It looks like it belongs in a time of Qbert Look at it, it's so square but it's so cool Qbert, you don't know, you really don't know who Qbert is? Wow, anyway may I continue? Here up front, apart from obviously the LED headlamps Here you've got another light pattern that comes on It's lines, it looks like a baleen whale really at night I'm sure we have shots of that And then if you move down here below, these panels actually open up when they need to to let air go in and cool off the batteries every once in a while And then the lines here, look at that So retro And mind you, the paint I know that we made reference of this paint back at the motor show but look at it, it's like a satin finish This is a paint job, this isn't a wrap Look at the sides, coming to the side The wheels, now I've said it before many a time that when it comes to EV cars, the wheels are not exactly the prettiest thing You've seen better wheels on Bentleys, Porsches, Audis, Benzes and those wheels really really great These do need an engineer's touch which is why they look that way If they just left it with the designers, it would look much better But the engineers have designed this in such a manner that it is as aerodynamic as possible What helps too are the pilot tires on this, pilot EVs which obviously reduce the rolling resistance and help fuel efficiency or no, in this case battery efficiency, my apologies Of course, discs brake front and rear that have a re We go again with that term, regenerate You know what I'm talking about, the power goes back into the batteries Thank you very much Ground clearance is 160mm which is 30mm less than the Tucson So it's a little lower but it's still considered a crossover The door handles are very cool when you, I don't have the key with me but when you do unlock the automobile, these actually do pop out so you don't have to necessarily press and have it come out I don't always want to continue making references of comparing it to other automobiles like I did with the ground clearance of the Tucson but okay, fine, this will be the last The wheelbase of this automobile, it is 3,000mm long That's from wheel to wheel To put that in perspective, the Palisade which is a 7-seater SUV has a wheelbase of 2,900 This is 100mm longer in terms of the wheelbase It may not be longer as an automobile but what that means is that it's probably got all that space inside, right? which I will show you definitely a little bit later on But before that, let's continue with the tour of the exterior of the car Here we have the rear First off, wide Again, that term that we used earlier which is retro-futuristic very much so with these very cube lights in the rear These lines found down here To be completely honest with you When you look at just the rear of the automobile It looks like an automobile that was designed for a TV show in either the early or mid 80s and they were trying to make it look like a futuristic car hence retro-futuristic It just screams old yet new at the same time and it seems to be working somewhat This pattern right here reminds me of Tetris I mean it, you guys probably had dreams of Tetris when you were much younger and you couldn't go to sleep You go to sleep and you're dreaming about Tetris You wake up because you couldn't sleep because you were dreaming about Tetris Then you go to sleep and you're dreaming about Tetris and you wake up and it's a vicious cycle But anyway, these lights do come on These are your brake lights up here and your third light up here This is a park light with a fog lamp and reverse lights found here in the back Underneath, no tailpipe, I wonder why But like I said, you have lines and then sensors back there and one of four cameras can be found here When you open her up, press the button, yes You are looking at over 500 liters of space In this particular model, I don't know if it does come with it but there isn't a to-no to cover the back Although, I gotta tell you It may not look like 500 liters of space but it is because it's very, very deep It may not be very tall because it's got this lift back form to it but it is quite deep I can tell you that you will definitely be able to fit at the very least two golf bags Put that in. If not this way, then I guess that way Yeah, I'm putting to put good money on it Oh, but before we go inside This is obviously going to be very important This is the charging port of the automobile Now, there's an open and close button that I'm going to show you that it actually works The truth is, I've never actually had anything like this before and this is just way too much fun If I continue this any longer, I'm gonna break the damn vehicle Yeah, you think? Yeah, maybe I should stop Anyway, okay. This right here, these very cube lights which is basically mimics this is a very informal way to tell you how much juice is left or how much juice you're putting inside the automobile or how much more time, whatever It's just a very informal way, right? The more formal way of telling exactly how much juice is left inside the automobile will be on the instrument cluster Now, every purchase of the IONIQ 5 will give you access or not access, they will give you a portable charger which you can plug in here into the AC port This by the way is the DC port down here So it comes with a portable charger which unfortunately will take forever in a day Think of it as a battery pack for your mobile phone, right? It's not exactly inside the car where you can charge it but it's just something that you need just a little bit of juice to get you through whatever it is that you need to Think of it that way coz like I said it will take forever in a day But every purchase of the IONIQ 5 also comes with a home charger which you can install in your garage or if in your condo if at all possible And that will charge your automobile depending on the wattage anywhere between 6-7 possibly even 8 hours at most So essentially when you get home from work even if you don't need to top up, just plug the car in By the time you get down the following day, boom! Bob's your uncle, you're out of there, right? And then, here's the beauty about it The DC port, this can charge your car between 10-80% in roughly about 18 minutes, 15-18 minutes It will take you longer to fall in line at a Starbucks get a cup of coffee, wait for it to cool off after you paid for it and then drink it then it will to charge this car to full That's- Hey wait! No! Don't close! Oh dear lord Cut that, don't show this to Hyundai Nothing to see here Oh my god I hope I didn't break it Dear lord I hope I didn't break it God please don't Check out this interior Pimpin! White leather This looks like the type of car that Diddy would own Look at this leather, white Let's start from top to bottom Look at this gorgeous moonroof Look at the size of this glass Moving down, we have leather all around Even on the- yes, leather on the doors There are mood lights that can be found in the door and even around the speaker I don't know if you can see that but right now it's purple Bottle holders are not so big so it'll hold the smaller plastic bottles that you can buy from convenience stores Up front, there are two USB charging ports Both of them Type-A Would've wanted Type-C but hey Type-A works No air vents obviously on top or in the bottom because the air vents are found on the B pillars much like a Volvo Cool thing, cool fun fact though These were actually- when they were put in a Volvo they were actually thought of by housewives because they thought that when their kids were getting warm it would be pointless here, why not put it here and I think this is why women should rule the world Ideas like that Anyway, well I'm not trying to oversell that I love my wife, okay Ah, you have a center armrest with two cup holders and really that's about it The sound system inside this automobile I'm gonna get ahead of it before getting up front is a Bose Do I like it? Yes very much Does it have good bass? Oh yes it does Now also as an added plus you have privacy shades here as Jack likes to call them to block off the- I can't say that word, okay I didn't say anything Yeah right I'm not saying that you can but if you needed to put four people here in the back they would fit How? Well obviously it's very comfortable for the passenger on the left or the passenger on the right Good thigh support This is Jack's- not his normal driving position because the chair does move back when you get out of the automobile So this is further than Jack's normal driving position and yet I still have a lot of leg room and headroom is actually stupendous But if you needed more room inside the back check this out See the center console? Keep watching Bam! Look at the amount of space that all of a sudden that you have Ah, look at that Person one, person two, person three, person four, person five, person six I'm not saying seven Oh yeah, seven It's so much space back here And again, I must reiterate that this is not even Jack's normal driving position It's moved back So crossing my legs and feeling extremely comfortable in here This is where the 3,000 millimeters of space really goes into Why don't you show your driving position? Okay, fine, okay Just stay here, okay Look at the amount of space I'll go to move to my driving position Look at that Wow You could fit an eighth person Don't do that No, no It's not like we would advise on doing it Don't do it Just don't do it Grabe the amount of space Okay, so to the business end By the way, I'm sure the first thing that you would have seen I'm gonna move this back is that, check this out There's a leg rest underneath I don't know how to Can I put that? Look at that It comes out Now obviously you're not gonna use this when you're driving but the chair itself can sort of like tilt back into what they call a relax mode So it kind of tilts back and like sort of like seats like a lazy boy Obviously, like I said not for when you're driving, okay So first thing you're gonna notice is I can actually turn on the automobile because it doesn't make any noise to straighten out the steering wheel It is an all obviously digital affair You've got two 12.3-inch screens One as your instrument cluster and the other as your infotainment On your instrument cluster you've got all the information that you need that you're ever going to need inside the automobile including your speed your little trip computer in the center and then also when you indicate right or left that actually the cameras activate on either side and it comes out here on the screen so that essentially you're just trying to not anymore move your focus anywhere else except for the mirrors when you look and if the blind spots are here in the center On your infotainment screen Oh it's so nice to have the aircon on and not be noisy On the infotainment screen which is touch capable You have your 360-degree camera and then all the car function other car functions that you might need to change either the ambient lighting in here or the equalizer and what not It is Android capable and Apple capable as well Down below, you'll find the physical buttons to control said touchscreen just in case you want to get to a particular menu immediately so for example your volume or you want to get to your media right away and then under that is your touchscreen panel which is your air On the steering wheel, you do have paddles but it's not exactly what you think for because obviously this is an electric vehicle it's like a scooter it's one gear and you go so the paddles are completely for something else which I'll explain later when we go for a drive Your gear shifter is no longer a shifter or a knob it's actually here on the stock It's a, I'm gonna hold it down It's push to park, up to drive you put it into neutral by putting it in the center and then reverse which turns on the camera and it also has a 3D camera that you can see around the automobile Pretty nifty Put that back into park Textures, there's a lot of textures inside this car The dashboard is of one texture and then just underneath it near the air vents yet another texture and then underneath the air vents is yet another texture and on the door, even on the door I'm gonna open this up so you can see even on the door, there's this like fall wood going on in the center and then more dots that you see on the side that sort of like mimics the rest of the automobile Here's a funny thing that Jack pointed out On the steering wheel, there are four dots These four dots right here mimic the dots that you'll have a hard time seeing this but there are four dots on the seats as well Now I tried to figure out if it was braille but no, it's just it's a pattern of four dots and then I noticed that apart from the airbag sign that's on the dashboard and the Bose sign that's on the speaker there is no Hyundai sign logo or anything inside the automobile Now unless that's what the four dots mean there's nothing and it's just it's not good or bad but it's like really very minimalistic Again, retro futuristic It's just so cool Oh sorry, last thing is the center console which obviously I showed you earlier can rock back and forth to provide more space or less space Bottle holders here Charging points here You do also have a wireless charging pad and a tray big enough for Jack's I'm compensating for something bottle What? Yeah, yeah Here, oh that's Jack's mess But this, oy! This thing comes up That I didn't know We just, you learn something new every day What I am excited to show you is or rather tell you is just exactly very quickly how the car feels like when you go out for a drive and explain to you exactly what these paddles are for Speaking of paddles Did you notice that the left footrest here It's as big as a chopping board Look at the size of this thing Chopping board Look at it You can cut up a turkey there Not a very big turkey But big enough A turduckle What's a chicken turkey? A chick-turkle? Turduckle? No, that's a duck So those paddles that I mentioned Obviously again, they're not for gears They're actually to increase or decrease the amount of regeneration that happens when the car slows down The heavier the regeneration the more the car slows down but the more that you put back into your battery That's what the paddles are for To control that Now, speaking of regeneration of power Up front Well, there's nothing up front But there is a frunk Or a framt trunk Framt trunk That is capable of carrying 57 liters of whatever it is that you want to put up front But if you're talking about power This car produces 214 horses And 350 Nm of torque Mated to one gear Push and go Now, when we're talking about range or distance However it is that you want to say it In the standard IONIQ 5 Which is the more affordable one You can get up to 384 km on a single charge Now, Hyundai claims that in this, the extended range You can push it up to 451 km So, essentially You can make it to Baguio Inside this automobile In that sense, range anxiety may not be the biggest of issues Especially since you can just go about your business Do what you need to do And then head home, plug it in And forget about it And also, it's not as if anybody ever travels 450 km in a single day I mean, that's like going to Baguio and back in a single day Who does that? We, we do I did it, we did it We left Manila because it was traffic I come to Mind's View and fantastic I'm never gonna give that up You know, we are going back to Baguio soon We really are Now, the comfort of driving the automobile is actually very good As we mentioned earlier, the wheelbase is very long Which means that when you go over bumps After you go over the bumps with the front two wheels You kinda tend to forget that you actually still have to go over them With the rear wheels because it's so far apart But by being so, by being far apart And the batteries being so low So bringing the center of gravity low and the batteries are quite heavy It's very, very comfortable It's not that it's like you're floating on air No, not at all There is still some feedback, good feedback from the road Even the imperfect roads Nothing jarring, of course But enough for you to actually be just extremely comfortable I will look forward to our review of this Because I'm gonna make Jack drive And see just exactly how comfortable it is for the rear passengers And since this is an EV, you'd expect drive modes Which is why it's got a button right there And yes, you've got eco And yes, you've got normal But the bit I'm interested in is sport Which we're on right now It's hachoo time Ready? Ha, ha, hachoo Holy! Oh my god Again, again, again Ha, ha, ha, hachoo Oh my god, oh my god Oh! Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha Oh my god So much fun, man This thing pulls Let's go back to eco Let's go.
