Hello everyone, I'm Thuan. Welcome back to my channel.
Today's video is a topic that many of you have asked me to do a lot,
which is my experience of practicing speaking for my friend Venus.
For my friend Venus, she speaks quite well.
She started speaking single words in about 13 months,
and the number of words can still increase.
Up to 17-18 months, she can speak double words,
and she can speak about 3-4 words.
Up to about 20-24 months, she can speak a full sentence,
about 7 words.
And before 2 years old, that is, before 24 months,
Venus has mastered quite a few poems in Vietnamese,
songs in Vietnamese, and songs in English.
She can sing all the songs by herself.
In 22 months, I did a comprehensive test
of Venus' development.
I did an online test with parent coach Tu Anh Nguy,
who is a parenting consultant.
She commented that Venus' ability to speak
was significantly improved compared to her peers.
To make this video, I sat down for quite a long time
to record the activities I did with Venus
during the last time
to help Venus develop her ability to speak from an early age.
I hope today's video I share will be useful for parents.
My first tip is to help her improve her ability to speak.
Why do I mention her ability to speak?
In fact, children will practice listening before speaking.
Take a very simple example,
for example, we adults learn English.
Do you notice that when people learn a new vocabulary
or a new sentence,
we need to listen to that vocabulary several times
before we repeat it, right?
And the more people who can hear that language,
the better the ability to speak that language.
During Venus' speaking practice,
I realized that listening ability is very important
and directly related to the ability of children's language.
I remember that from the beginning,
Venus spoke quite clearly.
It was about 10 months.
She spoke quite clearly.
At first, I just thought
those were normal words,
but then I realized
that those were the words I and my grandmother used to say every day.
When my grandmother cooked rice in the kitchen,
if she touched something hot or hit me,
my grandmother would say,
Oh, it's very big.
And me too.
When I was sitting and hitting myself
or touching something painful,
I also shouted,
Oh, it's very big.
Maybe it's because Venus heard that big word
and it was quite impressive to her,
so she remembered and repeated it.
The first detail I want to say here
is that parents should create a space
with really vivid sounds
during the time she likes to play.
Usually, it will be the voice of the mother,
the voice of the father,
of the family members.
So when she likes to play,
everyone should take advantage of that time
to talk to the children a lot.
Another effective way
to increase the ability of children
is to read books.
If you have watched my previous videos,
you know that I have read books
for Venus since she was born.
I read and maintain books every day
until now, I am over 2 years old,
it is very wonderful
to be able to provide information
to the children.
Or when the child is playing alone
and the mother is busy working,
cooking in the kitchen
and cannot play with the child,
the mother can turn on the music for the child
to listen to.
Soft songs, cheerful songs
will also make the child very excited.
When the child turns on the music,
the parents should not turn on the TV
but everyone can turn on a speaker like this.
I have used it since Venus was small
until now.
And turning on the speaker
will limit the possibility
that the child will contact the TV
or iPads from early on.
The ability of children to listen
is also developed through familiar sounds
in our daily lives,
such as the sound of rain,
the sound of birds, the sound of running water,
the sound of the mother cooking in the kitchen,
the sound of the key, the sound of opening the door,
the sound of an old car running on the street,
etc.
All the sound materials
passed on to the child's ears
will help the child increase
the ability to listen.
And this is the basis
to help the child develop
the ability to speak later.
My second experience
is talking to the child.
But how to talk
to help the child develop the ability to speak?
In daily life,
there are many ways
to talk to the child.
For example,
when I do something to the child,
I will inform him first.
For example,
I am going to replace Venus
so I will say,
Venus, I am going to replace you.
I will hold Venus up
and show her.
Then I say,
this is TÀ,
this is TÀ.
Or when it's time to eat,
I will say, it's time to eat.
Let's have lunch together.
That is, all the actions I do to Venus,
I will tell her
what I do.
You can also talk to the child
by describing the details
that you see for the child.
For example, instead of complimenting
that Venus is wearing a cute shirt today,
I will say,
Venus is wearing a pink shirt today,
has a bear pattern, so cute.
This way of speaking will provide
the child with more words,
images, details,
but still short, not too long.
When talking to children,
we usually tend to speak
short, one or two words, easy to understand.
But in fact, everyone should
say a sentence to the child
with full vocabulary because the language
is correct, not a long sentence,
a short sentence,
but a complete sentence.
This will help the child understand
how to use the words in the sentence
and will later limit the
habit of children saying short sentences
to adults. There is an experience I have read
that is very good, that is,
talk to the child in the same tone as the adult,
but with the tone of the child.
It means that when talking to the child,
we should raise our voice a little,
show a little more intensity,
when complimenting the child,
or expressing surprise, happiness,
hanging on the neck, we can do actions
like pinching the cheek,
this will help the child
feel very excited,
very excited with our tone.
After one year,
the attention of the children has developed very well.
At this time, the child has understood
the simple words of the adults
and begins to speak to the mother in the
voices that the adults speak,
we will actively say the words to the child.
For example, when the child drinks milk,
we say, this is milk, milk of the child,
milk, milk, just repeat the words like that.
Gradually, the child will understand
and the child will start to repeat.
This is a glass,
this is a glass,
that is, whatever the child holds,
the child touches, the child sees,
everyone says that word to the child.
We will use it to provide
a lot of words to the child every day.
Grandpa,
Grandma,
Dad,
Grandma,
Uncle,
Dad,
Uncle,
Dad,
Grandma,
Everyone also noticed that
we should not speak sweetly to the baby.
When the little baby starts to practice speaking,
there are usually some words that are not said clearly.
For example, when going to bed,
the baby will say, sleep, sleep.
Instead of speaking to the baby,
we will say, go to bed,
do you want to go to bed?
Now let's go to bed together,
go to bed, sleep.
If you repeat this, the baby will gradually improve.
And one more thing,
when talking to the baby,
let's talk to the baby in perfect communication,
clear sentences,
provide the child with as many words
as possible, only sound, color,
image, etc.
Provide as many diverse words as possible for the child,
the better.
My third experience is reading books
and letting the baby read books every day.
Reading books is a wonderful thing
that helps children develop
language skills right from childhood.
I also have some videos
about reading books for the baby before.
There is also a video
7 tips to help the baby form reading habits
right from childhood.
You can watch that video again.
The baby's brain, from 0 to 3 years old,
develops extremely quickly.
The baby has a very, very light
and very fast memory.
Now the baby is over 2 years old
and reading habits have been formed
since childhood.
Now, just before going to bed,
the baby will go to the bookshelf
and choose a book for the parents to read.
I also share my practical experience
while reading books for the baby.
So far, I have seen very clearly
the benefits of reading books.
That is, 8 months ago,
I read a book for the baby
to hear the sound of the baby's heartbeat.
I also reviewed that book.
At that time, the baby really liked that book,
but at that time,
after a while,
I took that book back
and read it again for the baby.
One thing that surprised me
was that the baby remembered
all the names of the animals in that book.
Wow, you're right.
I was really surprised
that it had been a long time
since I read that book,
I didn't know why the baby could remember it.
I think it was thanks to the 7-8 months of reading.
I was really surprised.
In the 15-16 months,
I saw that the baby really liked
to read books
and look at colorful images
to point at and call out the names.
So, everyone should choose hard copies
so that the baby can easily read without being torn.
I bought a dollhouse.
Dinosaurs
Giraffe
Doctor
Fish
without being distracted by work, phone, or anything else,
and just focus on playing with the baby.
Then we will have a very happy spirit to play with the baby,
excited, excited, and creative.
At this time, everyone should use all your creativity and language skills
to provide the baby with a lot of information about the game,
such as the description of the color of the toy,
think of many ways to play,
how to play this game, how to guide the baby to play that game,
or you can imagine and create another way to play.
About 14-15 months later, the baby has understood the simple rules.
We can play games like putting a lot of toys near the baby
and ask the baby to get those things.
For example, I will say,
Venus, now get me a pink ball.
Venus, get me an orange doll.
Get me a red dinosaur, for example.
When everyone says a word, there should be more colors.
This will also help the baby learn how to distinguish colors.
I remember that my mom texted me and asked
how I taught Venus how to distinguish colors,
and my mom was so good at it.
I think the simplest way is to try to mix colors with everyday objects.
When the baby is about 18 months old,
I think she has begun to understand and know how to play the game of putting a doll.
I bought Venus a kitchen set,
and she really loves it.
Venus usually puts the doll in the kitchen,
and I am the one who buys it.
I often say,
Venus, get me a bowl of beef noodles with a lot of pork knuckles.
If it smells good, it means it smells good.
That is a plate of cake.
I provide a lot of advice on how to feed her.
She really likes it.
And when she sells it to me,
I also tell her to pay for it,
charge for it, and so on.
Those games will also provide me with a lot of advice,
and also help me improve my creativity.
The fifth thing is that we listen and help the baby speak out what they want.
I see that at the age of one,
the babies have begun to know how to express their wishes by action.
For example, if you want to play with a toy,
the baby will show you,
or if you like something,
the baby will show you,
or if you want to take it,
we will observe the baby,
see what your wish is,
and practice that word for the baby.
For example, at that time,
when Venus wanted to drink water,
she would point to the water bottle.
Instead of responding immediately to Venus,
I would say,
ah, you want to drink water, right?
Water, you say, water.
I keep practicing that word for her like that,
repeat it over and over again.
Gradually, she will try to speak according to the word we are saying.
When the baby can speak the word water,
I start to practice for the baby to speak the bottle of water.
When Venus can speak the word bottle of water,
I will start to practice for Venus to speak gradually the sentence,
I want to drink water,
Mom, I want to drink water,
Mom, help me get the bottle of water.
Just like that, gradually,
I will practice for Venus to gradually increase the number of words,
and gradually increase the word into a complete sentence.
Thanks to practicing such a long sentence,
Venus and I have become used to it.
When she speaks well,
she always speaks a complete sentence.
She will say,
Dad, read a book for me and little Henry, listen, Dad.
Mom, did you give Venus candy?
When she forgets and she speaks briefly,
I will ask her to speak completely,
then I will respond to her request.
The sixth experience is to speak positive words
and limit speaking positive words to the baby.
I received quite a lot of questions
and complaints from mothers
about their children in the period of 15-16 months.
There are often behaviors such as
screaming, eating when there is no food,
biting or hitting others,
and being lazy to eat.
It really makes mothers very stressed.
But did you know that
these are really normal behaviors of children in this period?
Because the children are still young
and are still in the process of development,
the children still do not have enough language skills
to be able to express all their wishes,
emotions and feelings.
So, screaming, crying or biting
is a way for children to show
an expression of dissatisfaction,
dissatisfaction with themselves.
Because of that, some parents will be angry
and often scold the baby,
such as,
you are so bad, why are you so bad,
don't touch it, don't do that anymore,
eat it or I will bite you now,
threaten the baby,
watch out, I will bite you now,
if you don't eat, I will force you to leave, etc.
These words really have a negative impact on the baby.
Did you know that
when the baby hears too many negative words like that,
it will lead to more and more aggressive behavior,
and even reduce the ability to develop language skills,
the child will suddenly become lazy and less talkative.
Therefore, parents should try to be really calm
to be able to control their actions and words
towards their children during this period.
This topic is quite a long topic
and I hope that I will have other videos
to share with everyone more carefully.
But here, everyone just remember that
we limit negative words,
we can use other words in a different way,
or be calmer to handle the situation in a different way
than screaming at the baby or hitting the baby.
The seventh experience is to limit the baby's access to early electronic devices
before the age of two,
because it has a lot of negative effects on the baby,
such as affecting the baby's sleep,
affecting the eyes, affecting the behavior,
which can cause the baby to be aggressive, agitated, agitated,
affect the ability to develop the brain,
as well as the ability to communicate with the baby.
Some babies can even be slow-talking
if they watch too much TV, iPad, phone.
Of course, after the age of two,
when the babies are fully aware,
there are also studies that have shown
the benefits of watching TV for the baby,
watching English-language education programs,
for example, is also very good for the babies
with a certain amount of time with adults.
But before the age of two, it is still a sensitive time
because this is the time when the babies are developing
their brains, developing mental, emotional, and linguistic abilities.
Therefore, spending time for the children to play
daily skills training games,
interacting a lot with parents,
will help the children more.
You can turn on the music for the baby
through the Bluetooth speaker that I introduced at the beginning of this video.
Instead of turning on the TV,
this is also a way for the baby to learn
a lot of songs in English and Vietnamese
that we don't have to turn on the TV for the baby.
Today's video is quite long,
I hope that what I have just shared
is useful for parents who are having a baby during pregnancy.
