Good morning, Excellencies.
We will commence the photo session.
Allow me to count in 3, 2, 1.
Once again, in 3, 2, 1.
Thank you, Excellencies.
We now invite all leaders and head of delegation
to proceed to the meeting room.
Thank you.
Leaders of the high-level meeting of the AIS Forum
entering the venue.
Excellencies, please be seated.
Excellencies, ladies and gentlemen,
good morning and welcome to the first high-level meeting
of the Archipelagic and Island States Forum.
The meeting will start with a short video of the AIS Forum.
["Ramblin' Wreck from Georgia Tech"]
As a platform for collaboration,
AIS Forum is committed to initiating strategic solutions
that deliver direct impact on the environment.
AIS countries share similar marine environment issues.
Our concrete actions focus on providing solutions
to the most pressing issues,
involving strategic partners
to collectively combat these challenges.
With this, we foster the spirit of solidarity
into a variety of programs in four key areas.
We aim to provide research opportunities for academics
to tackle the issues AIS countries face.
We are committed to initiating a strategic financing framework,
disseminating information,
and involving the public in open dialogue
to select relevant projects.
We have connected entrepreneurship,
expanding startup ecosystems,
grown together, and captured new market share
mainly for archipelagic and island state countries.
We believe that multicultural cooperation and collaboration
are the keys to scaling of concrete actions,
driven by the role of multiple stakeholders and youth
to achieve SDGs in AIS countries.
The success of the AIS Forum depends on horizontal relationships
forged by equality.
We need to do it on a massive scale
and collective contributions from the government to civil society
to provide smart and innovative solutions
for significant action together.
Because as an islander, you are part of the action,
fostering collaboration,
enabling innovation for our ocean and our future.
The meeting will now continue.
Chaired by the President of the Republic of Indonesia,
His Excellency, Mr. Joko Widodo.
Excellency, the floor is yours.
Good morning,
Honorable Leaders and Chairpersons of the AIS Forum,
Leaders and Delegates of international organizations,
Welcome to Bali.
Indonesia is honored to be the host
of the first ever AIS Forum,
a forum for strengthening collaboration
between archipelagic and island states
connected by the sea.
The sea is not an inter-terrestrial separation,
but rather an inter-terrestrial unification.
The sea is an inter-terrestrial connection.
As archipelagic and island states,
regardless of their size,
progress, or development,
we share the same complex challenges
that are inter-connected
and inter-connected with each other,
such as sea level rise,
management of sea resources,
and sea pollution.
If we throw garbage in the sea,
it will not necessarily move to the other side of the world.
But if we throw garbage in the sea,
the garbage can reach anywhere in the world.
Therefore,
the collaboration and solidarity
between archipelagic and island states
is very important to produce concrete
and tactical strategic steps
in solving the same problem.
KTT-AIS is an important opportunity
to set the direction of future collaboration,
where there are three things that we need to encourage.
First,
solidarity, equality, and inclusivity
are principles that form a common ground.
Second,
the priority is concrete cooperation
that meets the needs of the recipients.
Third,
we need a robust and dynamic cooperation framework
to face future challenges.
Lastly,
the importance of archipelagic states
and the importance of developing states
should be consistently voiced by Indonesia,
both at KTTG 20 years ago
and at KTT ASEAN,
and at KTT AIS this year.
Indonesia is also committed
to prepare funds to be used
for the interests of archipelagic states
and developing states.
And Indonesia would like to invite
all present countries
to continue to choose
to continue to pursue unity
and continue to pursue collaboration,
even in the midst of divided world conditions.
Let us work and work together.
And with this,
I declare the first KTT
to open the forum for archipelagic states
and archipelagic states.
Next, before we start the plenum session,
which will be held in a closed manner,
with all due respect,
I would like to invite Medea to leave the meeting room.
Thank you.
Be brave to take a step.
Be brave to have a big agenda
for the development of our country,
for the development of the nation.
