This is our first day in Bangkok, Thailand. I am so excited.
We're going to do so much exploring today, as much as possible. The first stop is going to be a coffee shop.
This place is so cute. It's called K Coffee. Let's see how it tastes.
Oh, it's so strong. Oh, that's so good. We're already having the best first impression of
Bangkok. Jacob and I were out there trying to get a taxi, trying to go somewhere, and we were
struggling a little bit, and then this guy saw that we were like struggling, and he like was
walking past me, and he looked at me, and he was like, like telling me not to take that taxi,
because they were overcharging us. And then we were like, oh, like do you have a stall? Like,
because he was helping us out so much, him and his son, and so then we came to their coffee shop,
and the coffee is delicious, and it is so cute here. And the men that were helping us were so
nice. We came to the coffee shop. They wrote on a piece of paper the entire map of how to find the
bus station if we wanted to pay an even lower price to get to where we're going. Now that we're
fueled up on coffee, it's time to go exploring. There are so many fish in this canal right here.
It is crazy. They like come up to the surface, and they're massive. The yellow building right over
there is our hotel, and that's basically the same place where we got the coffee, and we just walked
across the bridge, and here it is, a little temple. We have like tigers on the outside.
I believe that's Buddha inside there, and there's like dragons too. It's really cool,
and we only had to walk like one minute. I got a better look at the temple, and definitely wasn't
Buddha. Should we do it right now? We came into the 7-Eleven. I honestly just wanted to come in
to get a little air conditioning and try to find some sunscreen. We bought two mosquito repellents,
and it was about three dollars, so pretty cheap. I think we're getting food from this guy.
We got some chicken here. I just saw the guy pushing his cart down the street up this hill,
and I was like, well I kind of want to just buy from him.
Mmm, that's good. Seasoned really well. Cost 10 baht, which is about 30 cents. Time to get some
Thai food. We were just walking down the street, saw this place, saw the menu. There was Pad See
so we stopped in here. I am so excited for this. What did we get? It's a mango shake,
not a mango smoothie. A mango smoothie has yogurt in it, and this is just like mango and ice I
think. It's so good. Pad See, it was like my favorite food ever, and this is the first time
actually having it in Thailand. It's a lot different than what it is in the United States.
Gotta spice it up a little bit. Here's the gyoza. I'm very confused by the fork,
but I guess that makes it easier on us. I just assumed that we would be using chopsticks the
whole time. Very crunchy, a lot of flavor. We got the vegetable one. I guess we could
have got shrimp too, but I just wanted to try a basic one. We're on our way to the river. We're
almost there, but we found a fort. It looks like it was built maybe like 100 years ago.
I don't think you can go in, but it's nice to look at.
Photo here for the evening. Okay. Beautiful. Thank you. Thank you.
Okay, so we were just at that fort, and then we walked like 10 feet, and we found this beautiful
park, and it kind of looks like a temple, but it's not because I'm in shorts, and I would not be
allowed in if it were a temple, but people here are just so nice. Jacob and I were just kind of
looking around, and these two guys came up to us, and they were telling us how it's Buddha Day,
so we can go somewhere and get into this like big Buddha for free, and like they don't even want
anything. It's just like the two guys earlier. They just genuinely want to help us. It's just
so cute. It says do not enter, and there's a ton of people, like tourists taking pictures of it,
so it must be cool, and the river's right on the other side of it, so that's what we'll do next.
We are working up a sweat, but in this park, there's tons of big trees right next to the
water. This is my favorite place in the city so far. It's just so quaint. We're like walking
around. There's cars rushing. Everything's going by you, but then you just walk in here, and it's
like instantly serene. We knew that it was going to be hot and humid here in Bangkok. It's about
like 95 degrees Fahrenheit right now. We're definitely feeling it, and we're just like sweating.
Oh, good to be in the shade right now.
We keep seeing these boats pass by on the water. I know from my little bit of research I did that
some of these boats are like tourist boats where they like show you around, and others are just
like the public boat where like a lot of the Thai residents will go on, and it's like extremely cheap,
so it's kind of like a bus that way, so we might go try to do that at some point when we're in
I think it would just be fun to just go hop on and see where it takes us.
I just love the way these trees look with the water right next to it. It is so beautiful.
We have a boat passing by right now. It doesn't look like there's any Thai residents on there,
so that one might be the tourist one, or they might be getting a tour of the river.
Everyone was looking in here, and I was so confused why, and then I saw this. He's eating
a fish now. Oh my gosh, that thing is literally like six feet long. What is it? It's like a lizard
and it's just eating a fish. Oh wow, this is quite the attraction though. There's a lot of people.
We found the tourist boat. I think this one's pretty expensive though, but then in the exact
same place there's the express boat, and I remember looking up these lines. I'm pretty
sure this is the non-tourist boat, so it shouldn't be as expensive as that one.
This is the Buddhist association. I don't know what happens here, but it looks pretty cool.
We're just trying to figure out how everything works around here. It was 30 baht, so about
one US dollar for the tourist boat for one ticket, so just one single use, and 150 baht for
the all-day pass, so it seems like something we could do because even though the tourist one is
like double the price as the regular express boat, it's still a really good price. We're just walking
on the sidewalk, and we found this. I don't think that we can go in there, but it's pretty to look
at from the outside. The details on these buildings are so intricate. I love like at the
top where it points, and there's like these like swirls on all of them. They're just so
beautifully designed. Found out what it was, the national museum.
This is the World War I volunteer monument. We just stumbled upon it. It was close to that other
place, that museum that we were looking at. There's a lot of people hanging out in this park.
Some people are taking a nap, other people are just have their headphones in listening to music.
Really like it, a nice grassy area in the middle of the city.
Hello! The breeze feels so good. We're at Koh San Road. This is a place with a lot of buildings.
There's a McDonald's right there, and there's a lot going on. There's quite a few hostels and
other hotels. We're just gonna walk down this street because it's extremely famous and see what
it's all about. We came into a 7-eleven just to get some air conditioning. It feels so good in
here. These aisles are so tiny. We're just trying to buy this water. Just need something cold. There
are so many 7-elevens in Bangkok. We just have to go into them. We're always looking for cold water.
They made this road so easy to walk on, but there's just the occasional giant truck just
coming by, but usually you can just walk in the middle of the road.
How much? 200. 200? 200. Thank you so much. Bye. Bye, you too. I got some pants.
We overpaid for them, but we did get it down from what, like 260 to 200? She said it was 280,
and we got it down to 200. How much is that, USD? I don't know how much, like seven? Oh,
that's so good. We're chilling. It says pad thai with egg is 40. What are we doing going to
restaurants? We can just go to these stands. I thought we were going to get some spring rolls
or some pad thai, but that stand was closed, so I think we're just going to go walk around,
probably find a massage, and then we'll probably eat later. How did we even end up on the street?
No idea. It's just clothes shop after clothes shop, a lot of food options, drink options. And
we keep going into 7-Elevens for the air conditioning. This feels right. Oh, it feels
so good. Let's get a vegetable one. Okay, just one? Just one vegetable, one. Yeah. How much?
One 15 baht. 15? Yeah. Okay.
Oh, yes. Yeah. Thank you. Thank you. I am so excited for this. I don't even know what it is,
but we got a vegetable one. We got some spicy soy sauce on it. It's like a bun, a crispy bun.
It's really like chewy. It's like a dumpling almost. Oh, I just poked myself through the bag.
Doesn't have a ton of flavor. Got some vegetables in there,
nice crispy bun on the outside. Every time I see a new food, I'm like, I want to get that.
So are we... No, let's go get a massage. Okay. It's massage time. This is going to be Jacob's
first massage ever. I am so excited. When I went to Thailand, I wanted to eat Thai food
and get massages every day. So we're off to a great start. Head, shoulder, back.
That's for one hour? 30 minutes. For both of us? Yes. Okay.
30-minute massage, head, shoulder, and back. This is going to be fun.
And we're right next to each other. Thank you so much. That was amazing.
Yeah. It was so great. My first massage ever. I didn't really know what to expect. My favorite
part was the shoulders. Me too. Like right here in the head. Oh, she like cracked my back like
8 million different ways. And one time I looked up and Jacob was just like in a back bed.
My favorite part, or at least the funniest part for me was, I was really sweaty after walking
around for about five hours. And so they had to turn on the fans just for me. It was about $6 per
person for a 30-minute massage. If you want to compare that to like the United States, it's like
probably like 10% of the price. So definitely worth it. Even if you don't like massages,
it's worth checking out. That was an amazing first day in Thailand. And there's still so
much that we have left to do here. Thank you so much for watching. We will see you in the next
video.
