And the Korean film industry is waiting for the release of a movie called Target and Sleep. In fact, I am even more looking forward to these two movies. Personally, I think Korea is good at making movies like this. I think Korean movies have many strengths in genre movies. The genre movie I'm talking about here means a movie that clearly shows the characteristics of a certain genre. Because of the nature of the movie, there are many cases where various genres are mixed, but the genre movie shows the characteristics of a certain genre. Therefore, genre movies can be produced with relatively low budget based on the creativity and individuality of the genre, and it has the characteristic of relying on the actor's acting. Sometimes, it is true that it is less burdensome to create a story structure of a movie because a lot of classical elements are used to bring out the characteristics of the genre. The reason why I think there is a small gap between Hollywood movies in this regard is because Hollywood does not make a big budget for genre movies. Of course, it is true that the budget of Hollywood movies cannot be compared to that of Korean movies. As a result, I think that Korean genre movies are the future of Korean movies. The reason why I'm looking forward to Target or Sleep this time is because it is a movie that shows the power of the genre combined with creative material and the charm of the actor who expresses it. The biggest reason I'm looking forward to Korean genre movies is because they can be produced with a small budget. In the case of Target or Sleep, which I mentioned earlier, it has about 1 million audiences. You can interpret it as a cost-effective movie, but in terms of industry, it is a movie with less risk of failure. In other words, there will be less interference from the production company or distribution company, and the freedom of the director will increase. In the case of a movie with a lot of capital, it is important to make a good movie, but it will focus on not failing. Therefore, it is inevitable to be passive in trying new things with a similar flow. However, in the case of a movie with a small budget, it has the characteristic of being able to try a variety of things. In addition to the development of the industry, the ability of the director and actor staff is more important. Therefore, in the case of a small-scale genre movie that can be less affected by the size of the industry, it is the best opportunity for the director to show his ability. This is also the reason why horror movies have become a back door for new directors. Therefore, I personally think that a variety of small-scale movies are produced more than a blockbuster movie in Korean movies. However, if there is a problem with small-scale movies in the current Korean movie market, it is that they do not provide the reason why they should be seen in theaters. It's not that I don't want to see it in theaters, but there are more people who want to see it in OTT. That's why the current Korean movie market is said to have to change the revenue structure. Unlike American movies, Korean movies have had an overwhelming income from theaters. Of course, in the case of Korea, theaters are relatively close, but unlike the fact that visiting theaters is considered a cultural life, in the case of the United States, the home theater is well-equipped because of the wide living room and the noise between floors, and the mania-centered market is formed, so the consumption of the second market, not the theater, is also active. However, recently, in the case of Korea, as OTT started high-definition and high-quality services, more and more people are looking for home theater-related products, and some audiences say that it is more convenient to watch movies at home. As such, Korean movies are slowly changing in the form of thinking about the profits in the second market. So far, we have talked about Korean genre movies.
