Representative Barbara Lee condemned the arbitrary detention and abuses of human rights of the Chinese Communist Party,
or PSECHE, against Kong Qingping, a Falun Gong practitioner.
In a letter addressed to the Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, on September 29,
Lee asked the Secretary to contact his Chinese counterparts and the associated judicial agencies
in the most energetic terms to ensure the release of Kong,
who is currently imprisoned in China for her faith.
Lee stated,
Mrs. Kong practices Falun Gong and was detained without just cause for practicing her religious beliefs peacefully.
As a result, I have deep concerns about Mrs. Kong's well-being
during her confinement by the authorities of the People's Republic of China.
Kong's daughter, Liu Qitong, who lives in California,
has been working tirelessly to rescue her mother since PSECHE arrested her on October 22, 2022.
Her mother's most recent hearing was in September of this year,
but was postponed because she was not feeling well.
The hearing lasted about two hours.
Prosecutor Xiaohui Ji and her assistant ignored the evidence provided by our lawyer
to prove my mother's innocence when it ended.
Liu says he still has no news of his mother.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa,
is a practice of peaceful self-cultivation based on the universal principles of truth, benevolence and tolerance.

Liu said that since his mother began practicing Falun Gong in 2004,
