I'm Mac. I'm Jake. I'm Caden. And we're Junk Bunny. And today we're going to be going
through our pre-show rituals with you. So what do you do to warm up before a show? Well,
we hit that chromatic scale that we found on YouTube. Yeah, yeah. So before a show,
Caden and I always do, there's this video on YouTube I found, it's called like, Easy
Vocal Warm Up or something. And we do it like two or three times before a show. And it's
like, do it with me, do it. Just running through the vowels. Just trying to warm up
the pipes. Warm up the pipes, get that mask vibrating. But also, I think a lot of like
warming up and pre-show stuff starts like the night before for me. Because you gotta
watch what you eat. You don't want to be going into a show and you're like, oh dude, I ate
like a big, big, freaking large, large wing combo last night. Now I'm like, oh, like I'm
blowing up, you know what I mean? Drinking a lot of water. A lot of water. Just trying
to stay hydrated. You used to make that like, drink concoction with cayenne and honey. Yeah,
I don't do that anymore. I used to go a little overboard. It's probably still something that
you do. Yeah. But what do you do? What do you do to warm up, Jake? To warm up, I usually
just flail my arms around a little bit. Maybe some push-ups? Yeah, I do some push-ups. Not
every show, but sometimes. We used to do this thing where we would like, we'd hype each
other up and start shoving each other, start hitting each other like, hit me bro, hit me.
Start slapping each other, start shaking each other around, trying to get the adrenaline
going before we get out there and start the song. A lot of moving, jumping jacks. Do you
have any rules for yourself when it comes to eating slash drinking? Well, kind of like
we said, you want to avoid like spicy food, spicy stuff. One time, before we played the
show, Caden went to like the Chinese place that was next door, got this massive thing
of like noodles and spicy chicken. I'm like, dude, what are you doing? You're going to
be- It was good. I had to break the rules. You don't want to be like starving before
a show. You don't want to be, yeah, you got to be careful because you want to eat something
before- But not too heavy. Not too much. You want to keep it light so you can, you know,
you move around. Kind of like a workout. You don't want to eat anything too heavy. I usually
load up on a lot of caffeine beforehand, too. Jake will have like five Red Bulls before
he plays. Yeah. Usually I go pee like five times before we play, all the water I'm drinking.
Is there a certain state of mind you need to get into? I don't know. I just think that
the adrenaline thing is the main thing. Yeah. We try to hype each other up. You try to get
hype before you go out. You don't want to be going out there like tired. You want to
be like energetic and ready to go. Because also sometimes, if it's like a bigger one,
you'll be a little nervous, too. Which kind of helps. I think it kind of comes with the
fact that you're playing a show. It puts you in that mindset. Yeah, yeah, probably. Getting
in front of people. I mean, I've had some rough experience where, like, I get it. Before
our first festival we played, which was Louder Than Life in Louisville in 2019, we, uh, dude,
I was like, I was wigging out. I was in our little trailer. My stomach was killing me.
I had just made like my seventh trip to the bathroom, you know? Oh, yeah. And I was super
nervous. But then before you get up there, you know, we're all like, oh, yeah, come on,
let's freaking get it, you know? Yeah. It's not like we were playing to like a thousand
people. There's like 40 people there. I don't know what I was getting worked up for. But,
you know, let's see. Do you do anything interesting slash odd slash superstitious? We used to
draw on Jake. We haven't done that in a while. I used to do this thing where I would take
a sharpie and give Jake these tattoos on his arms and on his on his stomach. Right.
Yeah. And we did it before every show. And at some point during the show, he takes his
shirt off and you can see it. He had on one arm. It was like a it was a stick of butter
that said butter on it. And then on the other one, it was like the skull of like a long
horn. Yeah. Like a like a thing with horns. I had a little cowboy hat on it with like
a crossbones. And then on his stomach, right above his belly button, I did two little eyeballs
and the belly button was the mouth and it made a little face. Now he's got got a real
tattoo. So it doesn't mean that we can't do it. Yeah. You just have to resurrect. Yes.
But like superstitious. I don't know. We're not like leading group prayer or anything.
Yeah. We're not no superstition. Not a whole lot of super. Just trying to get psyched up,
you know? Yeah. I mean, that's pretty much everything we do to warm up, right? Yeah.
I think that's about it. Yeah. All right. And that's our showtime. And it's showtime.
That's our pre-show rituals. Pre-show rituals. Junk bunny.
