How's it going everyone?
Welcome back to the Tacoma Beast channel
where as you all know, it's all about the taco.
In today's video, we're gonna be completely overhauling
the bed of my truck.
For those of you that have been following along,
you guys know that I have not seen my truck
for over a year and we're slowly bringing her back to life.
If you guys wanna see everything that was wrong with it,
then make sure to click up here.
Now let's get on with the video.
To bring you guys up to speed,
the truck has finally been able to get a line
thanks to True Automotive up in Colorado.
They found out that the cam tabs
that were originally welded on
were just terribly welded on.
And with the abuse of the truck and what I did to it,
well, they just could not hold all the abuse.
They also managed to seal the CV axles.
The only thing we need to fix is just the spindle
that's slightly bent,
but since we're going with portal axles,
that's soon gonna be changed
and then we need to change the tires.
Since we're going with portal axles,
we might be able to fit 39 inch tires on this Tacoma.
I can't wait.
We're gonna try, we're gonna do our best.
Since we managed to fix the alignment on the truck,
now we can focus on just upgrading the rest of the vehicle.
All right, guys, let's move on to the back.
As you guys can see,
we've changed the color of our truck
to this textured black finish.
It's actually a wrap thanks to Lucid Wraps up in Colorado.
And as you guys can see here,
the bed of the truck, our Tacoma Beast bed decal,
comes in a multi-cam pattern now.
I'm thinking of offering this on our website.
If you guys are interested,
make sure to leave a comment down below.
And then for the past five years now,
we've been rocking this CVT setup
with CBI Overland bed bars.
I've loved it up to now,
but since we're going with the portal axles
and it's gonna lift the vehicle all the way up,
I really don't wanna be too top heavy.
And this year specifically,
we've had a lot of tent companies go super lightweight
and super low profile,
which is exactly what I want up there.
And then I really wanna enclose the bed of the truck.
I don't want it to be open.
It wasn't until I went on the Pony Express
and realized that everything just gets caked back there,
filled with dust.
The fridge was just super dusty.
We couldn't even sit or cook on the tailgate.
So that's something that I really wanna change.
And I'm thinking of putting my camera gear all back there
and having a really nice setup.
The only way I can do that really is if we close the back.
So that's what I'm gonna be showing you today.
And I cannot wait to show you how this whole truck bed
is gonna look once we're done with it.
We've gone ahead and removed the CVT tent
and the CBI Overland bed rack.
Now it's time to meet up with Beyond 4x4
and install our new bed cap.
Can't wait.
All right, fellas.
We're here with Christopher from Beyond 4x4.
Christopher, thanks for having me, man.
Yeah, no problem.
Where are we right now?
It feels like we're in Tokyo.
Yeah, so this is the vibe that I wanted to set for you.
I wanna show you this cool studio out here in LA.
So we have the Tokyo vibe for our Toyota Tacomas.
And we're gonna be installing
the Beyond 4x4 Tactical Cap.
It's gonna be our newest model.
How easy is it to install this cap?
The assembly typically takes around
two to two and a half hours.
But the placing it onto the truck,
it only takes about 15 minutes.
And there's only a couple pieces of hardware
that you'll need for placing it on the cap.
Perfect, and you already have it pre-assembled
ready for me right now?
Yeah, we got it.
We got it all ready to go.
You ready to install it?
Yeah, let's do it.
Let's do it.
All right, man, so what do we have for the hardware?
So for the hardware, you have your keys, obviously.
And then we're gonna have a bolt
that will go through the cap,
a washer, which will hold it onto the cap.
And then we're gonna slide these.
These will act like your nuts.
And they will slide into the bed rail.
And then they will be screwed on like so.
And we have six of each.
So you're gonna have three on each side.
And it'll hold it down super secure.
You ready to mount that cap?
Yeah.
You're for sure gonna need my help, right?
How many people are we gonna need for this?
You only need two people.
So me and you.
All right, let's do it.
Oh, the pressure's on.
It's not bad, right?
Either you're strong or it's light, it's one of the two.
I don't know how we're gonna lift it above all my gear.
Oh, that's what the, we'll have some help from our friends.
And then slide to your back corner, Mateo.
I'm through here.
Oh yeah, look at that.
That looks so awesome.
Look how nice, guys, it looks with the black textured,
the multi-cam bed decal, and this black on the cap.
It's looking real good.
You were telling me that there's two settings to this,
right?
We can set it to be kind of far back
to give it a lot of clearance here.
Yeah.
Or really close to the cap.
Yeah, so if we take a look here,
we're actually, that's the next step,
is every Tacoma has this bar right here, Mateo,
if you can see, this bar.
So the two options are to have it
on the back side of the bar
or on the front side of the bar.
Depending on how close you want it to the back of your cab
will determine where you position it.
And then we have two slots,
one for if you have it pushed forward
and then one for if you have it pushed back.
Okay, perfect, man.
That's one thing that I really like that you offer us.
I don't like it how certain cabs,
they're just way back here.
Yeah.
And it just looks off.
And I feel like it's a lot of wasted space too.
Yeah, it was something that I was always playing with
and there are some customers who like it
and some who don't.
So I thought, okay, how can I make it
so that I can cater to both types of customers?
Yeah.
One thing I was really worried about
was it's so close to the cab
that I was a little bit worried because of the flex,
but I was eyeing your truck
and this guy wheels hard.
His wheels are completely destroyed.
I know you go hard.
That might just mean I'm a bad driver,
one of the two.
But it's not rubbing and it's working fine,
which is what I like and I can't wait.
Put it to the test.
Hell yeah.
One thing I really like too
is how I can now access all my stuff here.
Before, with the enclosed bed rack, it was impossible.
The only way that I can reach my bed
was basically from the back.
Yeah, one of the cool features is
you have the short bed, the five foot bed,
but for our long bed, our six foot bed,
we actually don't use the same type of doors.
They're longer.
There are some companies who use the same doors
so that your access point is the same width
on a five foot bed and a six foot bed.
I've noticed that.
So you lose some of that space,
but for our long bed, we actually designed it
so that you get to maintain the length of your bed.
Perfect, perfect, man.
And then how powerful is this door?
Can I put Rotopax with gas up there?
Oh, actually, it's pretty powerful.
I just wanted to swing me up there.
That's awesome.
So one of the things that I thought about,
and it kind of is where the name comes from,
is this tactical, right?
So you have this versatility to the cap.
Every cap will come standard with MOLLE panels
on the inside and MOLLE panels on the outside.
And so we designed or chose the gas struts
that would take about 25 to 30 pounds on the top.
So you should be able to put your MaxTrax, your Rotopax.
You might be pushing it with two Rotopax filled.
That might be pushing the limit.
But if you do like a Rotopax, a shovel,
a couple other things on the outside,
you shouldn't be over that 30 pounds and you'll be good.
Hell yeah.
Dude, I'm already thinking I can put all my camera gear here
ready to go.
It's gonna be sick.
Can't wait.
Let's keep installing it.
Cool.
Are you seeing how awesome this looks?
I'm so excited.
You have the option of placing it in front
or behind the bar.
You now have two different slots that you can use
depending on which one you chose.
So if you chose to be closer to the cab,
you're gonna use the slot that's closer to the cab.
Let's do it.
All right, so I got a screw washer
and I guess you can call it bracket or...
Slide it in, guys.
And this one, same thing.
Oh, there's only one back here.
So there's a total of four slots,
one in the front, one in the middle,
and then you have two in the back
and then the one in the back is the one you choose.
So this is crazy how it aligns perfectly.
Like it just sticks out the right amount
to where the screw just goes right in.
So we're gonna do one, two, and three, right?
Perfect.
Do you think the fridge is gonna fit?
Oh, yeah.
Yeah, for sure.
He did not even sweat.
A little bit.
Now I know why you chose Tokyo as a scene.
You're away from the sun.
Dude, so is it ready?
It's ready.
So here are the keys to your brand new truck.
One thing I wanted to show you guys,
it's got a third brake light.
So the third brake light comes standard.
Actually, everything aside from the platform roof rack
that you see comes standard.
So you'll get six locks.
You'll get the third brake light
and then you'll get the MOLLE panels on each side,
the upgraded gas struts.
This one particularly that you got is our aluminum model,
which can take about a 550 pound static load.
And then we also offer it in steel,
which is a little bit more.
It's 850 pound.
Depending if you have like a family of four sleeping on top
or if it's just you and your fiance are on top,
then you could just go with the steel.
I mean, the aluminum.
Which one did you say this one was?
This is the aluminum.
It's three millimeters thick
and it weighs roughly 135 pounds.
Perfect.
Yeah, I'm trying to drop in weight.
So this is ideal for me.
The rear end of this truck is just way too heavy.
We did not plan for this.
Your powder coat matches the black textured
and then just your overall design.
Just look at how tactical this looks guys.
It completely changed the vehicle.
Yeah, I mean, that was the original idea
was to go for a really militia look.
There's a lot of really clean cut camper styles out there.
And I wanted to come in with something
a little bit different.
And this right here is a product
that I've been dying to show you guys.
You absolutely killed it, man.
Thank you.
Absolutely killed it.
Do you mind showing me around
and how do I use these buttons?
Is it just as easy as, oh.
Yeah, so you could feel
there's a little texture to the button.
So if you, when you feel the texture,
you just press the button and it will unlock
and you'll have two on each side
and two on the backside.
And then you have a individually keyed cap
but the key will work for each one of the locks.
So you don't have to carry around six locks or six keys.
I love how strong these struts are, man.
You killed it going hard on these.
Cool, and then I can open on this side,
the other side and the back.
And then you mentioned something
about adding additional accessories.
Yeah, so.
What else can we add onto this cap?
So you can add really anything
because we have the design of the MOLLE panels
to just take about any accessory.
So you could do the Rotopax, the Max Trax,
you could do shovels, really, really anything.
We have a few different accessories
and we're constantly coming out with more.
On your cap here, we have shown is the platform roof rack.
And then we also have options for a tactical bin.
And a tactical bin would essentially
just go in here as a container
so that you can easily reach in and out
to grab any items that you want
neatly organized on the side.
And the last accessory that we have
is actually a pullout kitchen.
So it's the same tactical bin that we use
but we have an attachment for the kitchen to fold out
and then you could actually have a table here on the side.
No way.
I think I'm gonna have to get that next.
That's awesome.
You ready to hand me the keys?
Yeah, you're all set.
Let's do it.
Can't wait to test it out, man.
Thank you so much.
Yeah, no problem.
Really appreciate that.
All right, guys, take a look at how awesome
the BeyondWraps cap looks on the truck.
From here, we're gonna be going to 74 Welds
where we're gonna be installing
portal axles on our Tacoma.
