Welcome to Tribe Hotel 2.0 in Nairobi, Kenya. This hotel has been part of the city for a very long time but recently got fully renovated and reimagined for the best. This is the NEW Tribe Hotel.
Tribe is a luxury hotel located in Gigiri right beside the famous Village Market mall. The hotel offers nine different room types, a pool, a bar, a gym and so many indoor and outdoor spaces to relax or work depending on why you stay there for.
It is worth mentioning that Tribe has the number one restaurant in Nairobi, according to TripAdvisor which is Jiko. We had a little date night there during our stay and I have to say, the food simply delicious.
For our Nairobi staycation we stayed in one of Tribe's Loft Business Suite, a two story hotel room with a king bed, living room and full kitchen and let's not forget the floor to sealing window. This room is ideal for couples.

We just arrived at Tribe Hotel here in Nairobi, and this might be the coolest room we've ever
stayed in. So right now we're on the top floor. And yes, I said top floor. Welcome to our business
loft suite. So when we first came in and checked in, I found out our room was in the basement.
And I was like, eww, basement. I don't know how I feel about that. But like, obviously,
give them credit. Then we opened the door. Then I was like, oh, okay, no, you want the basement.
So we come in here and there's a kitchen and you have a little seating area.
You go downstairs. Our room is downstairs. So as you're coming down on the second floor,
love these gigantic windows. You'll see them in a second. This is our bedroom down here.
So we even have a little seating area down here as well. King size bed. Once you close the curtains,
we'll show you at nighttime too, because it's actually stunning the way they have the lighting
done. Two closets, TV. David makes us throw all of our stuff in here so there's nothing on the
ground beforehand. So I'm not going to open that and show you the mess inside. And then you have
a bathroom. Toilet, shower. That's all you need. I mean, you don't even need two floors to be
completely honest. But I'm very appreciative that we do. Let me show you something super cool.
Amazing windows, but you're like, can you sleep? Can't really close them.
So this is what I mean by nighttime slash when the curtains are closed,
you have beautiful ambiance lighting down here. I absolutely love it.
So this hotel opened back up in 2022 after major renovations. So I'm super excited to be here. It
looks stunning. And we're just going to show you a little bit more of that. So to be honest,
I saw the old pictures on their website a long time ago and it's night and day compared to what
it was. So let's go see. It's the same people as like Tribe, Hero, Harvest and all those things,
just so you know. So right now we're actually on the basement level and the main restaurant in
Jaiko is here as well. And we're going to go there tomorrow night and we'll show you some more
tomorrow. Trying to break it up a little bit more for you. But when you come out this side,
you actually have the pool. And I have to say the decor and style is absolutely stunning.
I love it. I didn't expect this. So basically we're in Gagiri area by Village Market.
So I didn't expect that right here. It's really not cold outside at all. It's probably like 27
degrees. But whenever we go to a hotel, we love AC. So it's like 17 degrees in a room,
which is why I have a sweater and jeans on. But I am dying outside right now. So up here,
there's even a little terrace area and it kind of overlooks the pool and the main restaurant as well.
So you come down even further and you have the pool here. And actually they just put it down,
but there's like a lot of conference rooms and things like that. And they actually set up like
a full buffet spread behind us over there as well. They completely redid the pool from what
I can see from older pictures. And it has that really like almost jungly vibe. I really, really
like it. So what you see behind me is kind of the outdoor patio area of Jaiko. But that's pretty
much only half of it. When you go inside, there's an even larger section. And again,
you'll see that because we are going to go there. Listen to me, Raymond. I've tried coffee hot,
I've tried coffee cold, I've tried coffee and food. I don't like it. There's nothing in this
world that you can do to make me like coffee. It doesn't matter how much milk you put,
doesn't matter how much sugar you put. I just hate coffee. He still tries it every time though.
You'll still, pretty much. If I get like something sweet. Yeah. It's a good challenge.
You make it, I'll try it. All right. But I'll probably hate it.
You've not had a proper cheers yet. Raymond, maybe tomorrow. She had so much coffee today.
I don't think it's healthy if you make another one for her. I might have had a lot of coffee
today. Maybe tomorrow afternoon. That sounds absolutely fantastic. Tracy had so much coffee
today. So that was Raymond. He's the barista here at Tribe and he think he's going to make me love
coffee. And I have no doubt that he's very good at his job. He settled on making it less worse
for you. Although on my end, I'm very excited. Oh yeah. He was trying to make another style of
coffee for Tracy today and I was like, no, she had enough. I'm already like sweating. I got coffee.
So this here is the reception area where you check in with a massive lobby. And I have to
say it definitely gives you that wow factor when you walk in. And they even have multiple
conference rooms like this one that you can rent out. So here at Dave & Annie Enterprise,
there's only two way that we quantify our success and it's with likes and subscriptions. So don't
forget to do that. So I've had a lot of coffee today, but I have another one. This one I'm
assured it's decaf. So let's try it out. Oh my goodness. That is so good. And I was not expecting
that. That is so, so good. It's got a different taste though. It has to. It's obvious. He's just
not had it yet. Oh my goodness. Okay. Honestly, like camera aside, Raymond is absolutely fantastic.
If you come here and love coffee, you need to get him to make you a coffee. This, I'm going to say,
this is the best coffee I have ever had. Not lying. I told Tracy to like film that clip
because she actually told me that like off camera. Oh, a hundred percent. Like blown away.
Yeah. I need to try it. You're not going to like it. I'm probably not going to like it,
but she said it's the best one she ever had in her life. It smells like coffee. Yeah. Because
it's super strong and has like a spice in it. It's the best coffee I ever had in my life. It's
don't, I don't like it. Okay. Don't get me wrong, but this is the less worst coffee I've ever had
in my life. Hey, I'll take it. Raymond, if you're watching this, please take it. I'll make sure to
tell him tomorrow. Since Jaiko is tomorrow, what are we eating tonight, Tracy? I don't know,
but we just saw a burger go by. It looks fantastic. It's this one right there. I was just wondering
if I could place an order for room service. Champagne and Coke Zero. Why, you ask a very good
question. Tom Hanks in the United States, over the holidays, went on a late night show and said
that when you mix those two 50-50, it tastes amazing. I'm very skeptical, but I have to try.
So we have a Veuve en Bal, which is not real champagne because we're not Tom Hanks. I'm not
going to put too much because I don't want to waste it. So 50-50. Okay. It looks nice and light,
extra bubbly. Smells extremely weird. Well, cheers. It's not bad. I wouldn't drink a full
glass of it, don't get me wrong, but I thought it was going to be much worse than that. Okay.
So we ordered a mishmash things because we couldn't really decide, but we have a mezze platter
and then we have duck beet duck samosas. Yes, it's labeled that way. And then we have a cheeseburger
because we saw their burger and I was like, that looks really good. So I'm hungry. Let's put the
camera down.
Good morning. So we're just up here for breakfast. You actually have breakfast up at Jaiko as well.
Jaiko? Jaiko? Jiko. Jiko. None of the above. Of course I have a coffee. Raymond's not here to
surprise me with different flavors though, so I had to order my own caramel latte. I'm very excited
for all the coffee we're going to have today. But yeah, let's fill our bellies and see what we get
to today. Okay. So pretty good breakfast. My avocados were delicious. Yeah. I like their
options. They have like a little bit of different options. And I like when it's like half buffet
and half a la carte. Yeah. That's really cool. Okay. So now we're going to relax a little bit,
probably going to do a little bit of errands because we're climbing Kilim next week. There's
a couple of things we need to do. And we're going to catch you guys back up when it's going to be
time to burn our breakfast and pre-burn our supper. I think supper is going to be very good. And run
the caffeine out of my system because I know I'm going to have a lot of coffee today. Might
have Swiss decaf. Yeah. See you in a few minutes. So one thing we didn't show you guys yesterday
is the gym. And the gym here is actually impressively like big and nice. They see good
workout. It's pretty good gym. In terms of like a hotel gym, like it's as good as it gets. There's a
little bit of everything, including a bench press, which is more rare in the hotel industry.
Yeah. And it's all like a techno gym, which is a very, very fancy brand. So I'm a fan.
So it's always a good time at the pool, but now it's time for me to do a little bit of work. And
the cool thing about Tribe, they have this massive area where you can sit. There's outlets everywhere,
little desks. So you can, you know, do some work. Okay. So we decided to have a little date night
because it's, it's Jiko night. Yeah. And we are definitely overdressed, but they did tell us
that Jiko is basically anything that, well, even Tribe is anything you want it to be. Yeah. So if
you want to go there in a swimsuit and a tank top, you can, if you want to go dress up with a dress
and everything you can. And tonight it's overdressed night. That's okay. It's kind of fun to get dressed
up every now and then. So for now, we're going to have a little glass of wine on the patio,
overlooking the pool and just have a good time.
Okay. It's time for supper. And I'm going to be honest. I have high expectations because Jiko
is the number one restaurant rated on TripAdvisor. Interesting. And there's like
hundreds and hundreds of reviews. Honestly, I didn't know that until you told me. High expectations.
So that's our waiter, Isa. He's very nice, but like very formal, like very professional,
the way he presented the wine earlier, the way he takes your order, like a real professional.
So as much as very formal, it is qualities of a very good waiter, making sure they get things
right and everything like that. One thing I'm still not used to here in Kenya is the formality
of like madam when we're the same age, or even when like someone older is talking to me and
they call me madam, I'm like, no, I'm just, I'm just Tracy. I appreciate it, but I'm just Tracy.
I'm Tracy or you Manny? I'm Tracy. Oh, yeah. So we start off with some bread and the butter looks
really good. It's a sun-dried tomato butter.
So I went with Isa's recommendation. I have the Melindi prawns.
Wow. Oh, that is so good. There's like, the sauce is delicious. The prawns are so nice and fresh
and they're massive. And there's a lot of them to be honest, but there's a crunch in them too.
Oh, that is good. So they have a whole bunch of different flavor samosas. So we have the duck
beet duck ones last night. These ones are the smoked eggplant. I normally am not for eggplant,
but it had like feta and tomato and stuff. That is so, so good. Okay. So for mine, I have beef.
It has another name, but like a beef ravioli. These things are stuffed too. And they're hefty.
This is half of one in like a Parmesan sauce. Rich and delicious. Tracy wants me to try it
before I try mine. She says she's blown away. Guys, that is good. Now do you understand why
I said that? I've got the pork ribs. Oh, it's spicy. It's really, really good. The meat is so
tender. So for dessert, we got the, what is it? Taste of chocolate or types of chocolate? Textures
of chocolate. So there's three different textures here. I don't know which is which to be honest.
Okay. So our dinner at Chico was a fantastic, like everything was just so, so good. Is it the
best restaurant in Nairobi? I mean, it really depends on like your taste. For us, definitely
a top tier by far, highly recommend. If you come to the hotel or even if you're just in the area,
I would highly suggest that you come and have supper here. Yeah. So now on the hotel side of
things, one of the biggest things that I really like is they have so many different types of
rooms. I think, I mean, online it looks like they have like six to eight, something like that. If
not 10, like there's a lot of different configuration and everything. And like even
this one, like this suite for being a two tier double level suite, the price is not that bad.
So also to note, if you've been here before in the past, it's actually completely renovated. So
whole different style, more modern. It's a brand new hotel. Yeah. It's stunning. Absolutely.
Staff, love staff. I'm sorry, but like shout out to Raymond. Yeah. He's our favorite. And also every
night they come to your room and give you those chocolates and they're fantastic. Yeah. I wasn't
expecting the chocolate to be good. So anyway, a big thank you to Tribe for having us. We're
all the prices and everything are advertised on their website. So make sure to check it out
instead of us telling you prices for 17 different kinds of rooms at different times of the year.
Anyway. So once again, big, thank you. Highly suggest to come and visit this hotel,
come to Gico as well. It was delicious. Top tier hotel in my books. And otherwise we'll
see you guys in the next one. We're climbing Gili next week.
