On October 7th, 2023, a new war broke out in Israel, about 9,000 km to the west of our planet, the Japanese island
Israel was attacked by Hamas, an armed group that ruled Gaza
In Israel, there are two separate autonomous regions, called the Palestinian Autonomous Region
One of them is the larger region on the east side, the West Bank of the Jordan River
The other, the smaller region on the west side, is called the Gaza Region
The war in Israel was triggered by the attack of Hamas, an Islamic extremist organization that rules the West Bank of the Gaza Strip
Israel, which was attacked by Hamas, immediately launched a retaliatory attack on the Gaza Strip
Thousands of civilians were killed in the attack, and the city of Gaza was destroyed
So, why did Hamas launch this attack on Israel, which was at risk of retaliation?
In this video, I will explain the history of Israel and Palestine to help you understand
Please watch until the end
Let's go back to the 18th century, 3,800 years ago
There was an ancient city called Ur in the area between Tigris and Euphrates, where the Mesopotamian civilization flourished
The story of Israel begins with a man who lived in Ur
His name is Abraham, and he is the middleman between legend and history
He is a person who appears in the story of the Old Testament in the Bible of Judaism and Christianity
Because his faith in God was stronger than anyone else, God gave him the promised land of Canaan
In addition, by overcoming many trials from God, he and his descendants were chosen by God
These chosen people are the so-called Jews
And the promised land of Canaan is the current area of Israel
The religion that believes in the story of God and the people chosen by God and the Jews from Abraham is called Judaism
Currently, people who believe in Judaism, regardless of race or ethnicity, are generally called Jews
According to the story of the Bible, Abraham later moved from the city of Ur, where he originally lived, to Canaan, the land given to him by God
A few centuries later, the descendants of Abraham were said to have built the Kingdom of Israel, the land of the Jews
From there, for several centuries, the Jews continued to live in this land, repeating prosperity, decline, division, etc.
In the 66th year of the Selection, the Jews were invaded by the Roman Empire, which was a powerful force, and their country was destroyed
And the Jews who lost their country were scattered all over the world
With the thought of creating a Jewish country again someday in my heart
A few hundred years later, in the 610th year of the Selection, there was a major change in the Middle East
In the city of Mecca, on the coast of the Arabian Peninsula, the Islam religion, which is now practiced by more than 2 billion people around the world, was established
In 624, the power of the believers expanded throughout the city of Mecca
And only 8 years later, in 632, the Islamic religion began to dominate most of the Arabian Peninsula
In 638, the Israel region also became within the scope of its power
By the time of the 750th year of the Selection, the scope of the Islamic religion had expanded to this extent
From there, for more than a thousand years, this region was dominated by the Islamic religion
Thanks to such a great expansion of the Islamic religion, the Jews of Israel, who were chased out of their homeland, were severely persecuted as deserters all over the world
However, they survived strongly through thorough education and knowledge of finance from an early age
Eventually, from among them, they appeared to create the world's largest tax
And in the 19th century, the Jews, who had been working hard all over the world for a long time, finally started to move
Let's all go back to the Jewish homeland
The destination is Israel, which is now the holy land of Jerusalem, which is located in the border with the Palestinian Autonomous Region
This Jerusalem is also called Zion in the Bible, and since the Jews all over the world started to move to this land of Zion, this movement is called the Zionist Movement
This Zionist Movement gradually escalated from the end of the 19th century, but at that time, this region, which was called Palestine, was under the control of a huge Islamic state, the Ottoman Empire
Of course, many Muslims, especially Arabs, lived in this area, so it was not easy for the Jews to move
In such a situation, World War I broke out in 1914, and with the participation of the Ottoman Empire in this battle, the era began to move
The Ottoman Empire was ruled by the Turks, and among them were the Palestinians, where many Arabs lived, and the Jews who were planning to move there
Britain was the one who caught the eye of this complicated situation
Britain promised the Arabs living in Palestine in 1915 that if they cooperated with Britain and fought with the Ottoman Empire, they would create a country for the Arabs in this Palestinian area after the war
However, two years later, in 1917, Britain promised the Jews who wanted to move to this area that if they provided them with funds, they would create a country for the Jews in this area
In 1918, with these two contradictory promises, World War I ended, and the Ottoman Empire, which became a defeated country, was later disbanded by Britain in 1922
And at this point, this crucial Palestinian area was not only a country for the Arabs but also a country for the Jews, and it was decided to be managed by the British as the British Peninsula
Of course, in this situation, dissatisfaction arose from the Arabs and the Jews, and many riots and demonstrations were repeated
In 1939, World War II broke out, and in this war, intense persecution of Jews by Nazi Germany was carried out, and as a result, the migration of Jews to the Palestinian area increased at once
After that, in 1945, the war ended and Britain became a war-torn country again, but Britain, which had been completely defeated, no longer had the power to continue the management of Palestine, and its role was to be passed on to the United Nations
And in 1947, the United Nations passed a resolution, and it was decided that this Palestinian area would be divided between Jews and Arabs, but many Arab officials voiced their opposition to this resolution
Because at the time of this resolution, the percentage of Jews and Arabs living in the Palestinian area was 33 to 67, twice as many as Arabs
In addition, in the area of residence, only 7% of the Jewish area and 93% of the Jewish area was inhabited by Arabs, but in the United Nations resolution, more than half of the area was handed over to the Jews
This is not convincing to the Arabs
However, on May 14, 1948, when the British withdrew from Palestine, the Jews declared the founding of the Jewish state of Israel
And of course, the Arabs rebelled against this founding, and the next day of the founding of Israel, a declaration of war was made to Israel from the neighboring Arab states, and a war broke out between the Jews and the Arabs in the Palestinian area
This war is the First Middle East War
This war ended in about a year by the United Nations, but after that, the Second Middle East War in 1956, the Third Middle East War in 1967, and the Fourth Middle East War in 1973, and many more wars were repeated
And surprisingly, in all of these wars, Israel, which was overwhelmingly inferior in number, actually won
In the face of Israel's extraordinary strength, the Arabs gradually gave up their resistance by force, and many of the land given to the Arabs by the United Nations resolution was handed over to Israel
After that, the current Palestinian Autonomous Region was established in a small area left to the Arabs
In 1993, the Oslo Accords established a relationship of mutual recognition of each other, but even after that, the conflict between Israel and Palestine, the Jews and the Arabs, and the Judaism and Islam were not completely resolved
And finally, in 2023, a full-scale armed conflict broke out again
In this video, I talked about the history of Israel
