Before I know it, it is already November.
It's getting a little colder and I can feel winter coming.
First day off in a long time, glad to have nice weather in the morning.
Once November arrives, my mind goes straight to Christmas!
Let's make today a day to prepare for Christmas.
The best part of Christmas is more in the waiting than the day itself!
This is a desktop calendar I bought in Australia.
Now you can count down from December 1st to the 25th!
I am looking forward to using this calendar now!
Breakfast first before putting up Christmas decorations.
Woke up a little early on a holiday, and this morning I'm in the mood for something a little sweet!
I decided on waffles for breakfast today!
Bake waffles using Belgian waffle mix.
Milk and
Beat eggs that have been brought to room temperature.
Then add butter and mix well.
The addition of popped sugar changes the texture and makes it even tastier.
Attach the waffle plate to the hot sandwich maker and preheat it.
To accompany the waffles is T2's Melbourne Breakfast Tea.
Butter the preheated plate and bake the waffles!
While the waffles were baking, I also prepared the yogurt.
Bon appétit.
Lately, I have been so busy in the mornings that I have neglected breakfast, but I felt it was important to eat properly in the morning.
I pulled the tree and decorations out of the closet.
Decorations grow a little more each year. Inside the big box is a Christmas crush!
This year, as last year, I will decorate a large Christmas tree 180 cm high.
Each part is so large that just taking it out is a challenge....
Although it takes time to assemble, a large tree is essential to the room!
This is the preparation for Christmas!
This hassle is what spices up the enjoyment of Christmas!
After assembling the tree, it is time to decorate it.
Let's decorate while listening to Christmas songs!
Ornaments I've been collecting little by little. Lots of newcomers this year
This is an ornament in the shape of a vegetable from Iittala, bought in Finland.
My favorite Moomin ornament, my favorite with 4 characters on it.
Memories of a trip to Helsinki.
This is full of memories of Cairns.
I traveled a lot, 2023.
Let's decorate the tree with those memories.
I can remember the beautiful sunrise I saw from a balloon in Cairns when I saw this ornament!
My favorite Grinch ❤︎
Now, let's get ready to celebrate Christmas!
Thinking back over the past year.
Decorate only beautiful memories.
Anguish and regret will eventually turn into beautiful memories.
So just for this moment, let it be overflowing with nothing but beauty.
As the end of the year approaches, something arrives at my house every day.
Gifts and things I've ordered for Christmas.
Opening it is a recent pleasure.
AirPods that were broken and deaf in one ear.
I've been using it broken for a long time, but I got a new one over Christmas.
In addition, I renewed my favorite cat case, ♩
Here are some advent calendars I bought this year.
Advent calendar for T2, a tea brand from Melbourne. Inside you will find 24 different types of tea bags!
I can't wait to see what's inside one of them...
Inside the December 1 door was a Strawberries & Cream flavored tea!
I can't wait for December!
The wreath I made two years ago will be displayed above the cafe corner.
I really like the way the sun has been shining in the afternoons lately.
I am usually on the couch at this time of day.
What I want to do at this time of the year is knitting, of course.
I knit every year, but I never finish because I keep knitting and unknitting.
When it comes to knitting, he likes the process of knitting more than the finished product. But I'm hoping to finish it this year.
Her husband is cooking dinner tonight.
He asked me what I wanted to eat, and I requested something Christmasy!
First he seems to make a stew.
Prepare vegetables.
Cut onion into 1.5 cm wide wedges.
Peeled carrots are also cut into bite-size pieces.
Cut celery into 1 cm wide sticks.
Do the same with the potatoes, cutting them into 1 cm wide sticks.
Lemons are also cut and vegetables are ready.
Also prepare chicken for stew.
Dust both sides with flour.
In a hot saucepan, melt half of the unsalted butter.
Grill the chicken skin side down.
Cook until the crust is browned and crispy...
Once browned, remove from the pan.
In the same pan, saute the onion, carrot, and celery.
I came to see it because of the good smell...lol
While the vegetables are frying, cut the chicken into 2 cm pieces.
Add potatoes and chicken and saute further.
Add white wine and skip the alcohol content.
Once the alcohol has evaporated, add water.
Then add consommé and thyme and cook over medium-low heat for 10 minutes.
While it is simmering, make the roux.
Heat unsalted butter and mix with a whipper.
Add the flour and mix until light and smooth.
When potatoes are cooked, add cream.
Add the roux in several batches to thicken.
Heat over medium-low heat and season to taste.
Taste tester, here I come! LOL!
Delicious!
Finally, squeeze lemon over the mixture and mix it all together!
Another dish is roast beef...!
Looks like it's going to be some kind of fancy dinner today.
Let the salt, pepper, and garlic blend into the meat.
Cook the meat in a pan over medium-high heat.
Bake so that all sides are browned.
Remove from pan and place in a ziplock.
Keep warm for 40 minutes in 60°C water.
He says it is important to keep the temperature at 60°C.
After 40 minutes, how is the roast beef done...?
Oh...! Looks good..!
Time for the long-awaited dinner...!
The table setting is also a bit more Christmas-inspired.
Let's eat!
First, take a bite of the stew.
Yeah...delicious...!
Let's try the roast beef too.
The meat was tender and really tasty...!
I will also bake gingerbread, a Christmas tradition.
I would love to make one to hang on the Christmas tree, but...
I eat it all before I decorate it, every time.
With my favorite recipes that are easy and delicious to make.
Baking cinnamon and ginger-filled gingerbread cookies again this year.
Though we are nearing the end of the year 2023
What was your year like?
At the beginning of this year I set a goal to make travel a part of my job.
Over the past year, "travel" has become part of my work.
It was a year in which I took on challenges in new fields and expanded the scope of my work.
If you act, something will change.
Change will not come unless we ourselves pick up the pieces.
Because I took the first step, I was able to see the scenery and meet people.
If you have an ideal that you want to achieve
Stop just wishing and start doing something small.
Because by this time next year, I may be a different person than I am now.
Just as this past year has seemed to fly by, I believe that life will fly by in the blink of an eye.
It is always you who will bring about a good future.
Let's celebrate this short life to the fullest.
