(Ligue 1 2023/2024): Highlights LOSC LILLE - MONACO

League leaders Monaco faced a tough trip up north on matchday 10, with Lille boasting the league's best home record this calendar year, ahead of their clash on Sunday. LilleDog lining up without their star striker Jonathan David, as Yousef Yezice led the line instead. Monaco were pushing high early on, Golovin latching onto the loose ball before finding Benieda in the box. He tried to find Balogun in the middle but it was put out for a corner. The Principality side were with the most chances, but Lille were looking dangerous on the break. Cavalero playing it to Yezice, who sent it out wide for Zheglova. Finding Cavalero at the back post and Cohn is beaten. The Portuguese forward opens his Lille account, and scores his second ever league AOB goal, against the team he scored his first with back in 2016. And Monaco were finding it difficult to deal with Zheglova, who was bearing down the right again. Played it through to Jakita, who ventured forward, and the defender rifles it into the bottom corner. A striker's finish from the centre-back, who grabbed his third goal of the campaign. Lille were able to withstand the waves of Monaco attacks to go ahead against the run of play. Zheglova for brace of assist, and Paulo Fonseca's men well on their way to a third consecutive win in all competitions. The visitors looking for a spark to get back into the game, Lucas Chevalier was able to get across in time. And Chevalier was called into action again. Jakob's cross pushed straight to Akhlioush, but the goalkeeper blocks the shot. Akhlioush was looking to make the difference with a late chance, shimming into the box and unleashing his shot. But Chevalier stands his ground again. And Paulo Fonseca's men make it 12 wins in their last 13 home matches in all competitions. Adehuta's men missing their usual clinical touch, as they don't move up to fourth place and go into next week's trip to Marseille in their best form of the season. Monaco knocked off the top spot.
