When it comes to China's rise in the 20th century, we usually think of the communist era.
When it comes to the People's Republic of China, we immediately think of General Ton Dien Anh, with his army of Nha Thanh kings to steal the gold.
But that doesn't mean that the People's Republic of China doesn't have great generals.
In fact, there is a man who deserves to have a huge army of generals.
He was not only a talented general with a reputation that was put forward by the people,
he was also a man with the idea of uniting the people, going ahead of the times, very kind to the people of China.
But it's a shame that his name is now very rare in mass media and is still very much in the dark.
The reason for this is that he was the last loser in the civil war between the Communist Party and the People's Republic of China in the middle of the last century,
and had to live nearly 20 years of his life in seclusion in Taiwan, so few people remember him.
It was Bai Xiong He, the former Chief of Staff of the Communist Party of China, the Minister of Defense of the People's Republic of China.
So what did he go through in his life? What qualities brought him to such great heights?
Let's go to the dark to find out about him through today's video.
Welcome to Battlecry History of the World.
One of the most excellent commanders of modern China.
Bai Xiong He was born on March 18, 1893 in Guilin, Guangxi Province, to a family of Confucianists.
He joined the army early on when he enrolled at the Guangxi Junior Military School,
a modern school organized by the Vietnamese army of Thái Ngạc to modernize the Guangxi army.
Here, he and his comrades Lao Huang Thieu Hoành and Lý Tông Nhân are the most excellent and far-reaching students.
In the future, they will all become three of the best generals of the Communist Party of China.
When the revolution broke out in 1911, Bai Xiong He, along with his classmates,
regretted joining the army and in April, he enlisted in the Nanking Regiment to be trained for enlistment.
After a while, he became a sergeant of the 1st Quang Tây Regiment
and gradually became a key member in the revolutionary movement of the Chinese people.
Since then, he has never stopped advancing in the ranks of the People's Republic of China.
Bai Xiong He, based on the anti-government wave of Beijing,
allied with Hoang Thieu Hoành and Lý Tông Nhân to wipe out the Vietnamese army of Guangxi, Luc Vinh Đình,
right in 1924 to become the new leader of the Guangxi Province when he was only 31 years old.
Bai Xiong He is known as one of the greatest military strategists in the history of China.
He is the commander-in-chief of the People's Liberation Army
and has made many contributions to the victories of many fierce northern forces,
with a strategy of using speed, mobility and surprise to defeat the enemy forces many times stronger than him.
Perhaps his reputation has begun to flourish after the 1927 coup d'état in Shanghai.
At that time, the Vietnamese army was occupying a number of provinces such as Shanghai,
Jiangsu, Fujian, Anhui and Jiangxi.
He has just experienced a series of defeats in front of the army
and had to withdraw to defend in the city of Nanjing.
Right after that, the two main formations of the Phuong Hue army,
including the Son Dong army of Truong Tong Suong and the Chieu Ngoc Phap's Truc Le army,
crossed the Yangtze River to help them defend Nanjing and Shanghai.
In this victory,
Tuyet Thach ordered Bai Xiong He's forces to immediately return to Shanghai to suppress the enemy.
Thus, a fierce battle took place right outside the city.
Then, on March 22,
Bai Xiong He's forces marched straight into Shanghai to win the last battle.
It even caused the Phuong Hue support campaign,
which was called a disaster of poor action for the northern Vietnamese troops.
Their troops suffered heavy losses,
forced to withdraw to the north through the Yangtze River.
However, during this time,
Bai Xiong He's troops also raised the slogan of choosing sides.
He did not choose the Communist Party,
but decided to support Tuyet Thach.
After an important victory in Shanghai and Nanjing,
the two sides of the Tuyet Thach and Bai Xiong He's forces fell into a conflict,
which led to a delay in the capture of Nanjing.
The Communist Party then split up
and established a separate government in Wuhan,
completely opposed to Tuyet Thach's Nanjing government.
The government of Wuhan even demanded some power
or even the demotion of Tuyet Thach.
Of course, this made Tuyet Thach angry.
On April 12 and 14, 1927,
hundreds of Communists in Shanghai were arrested and killed by Tuyet Thach's order
in a coup called the Shanghai Massacre.
From then on, the alliance between nationalists and Communists was broken.
As the commander of the Shanghai Massacre,
Bai Xiong He also actively participated in these coups,
to the extent that Western media later named him as the leader of the Communists.
However, during this time of division,
Bai Xiong He's talent saved the army from death once again.
The use of the army of Tuyet Thach's Nationalist Party
caused Tuyet Thach to resign in August 1927,
and General Chuong Tung Suong, the commander of the Song Dynasty,
ordered the army to counterattack and take back Nanjing.
The Nationalist Party then thought that Nanjing could be lost immediately
if Bai Xiong He did not discover the traces of the army on the road.
Therefore, Bai Xiong He urged Chuong to establish a command post,
mobilized and immediately commanded the 1st and 7th Regiments,
fighting fiercely with the army of the Nationalist Party for 6 days.
Then, he won the battle of Vang Doi,
killing more than 20,000 soldiers and capturing more than 30,000 soldiers,
causing the Song Dynasty to be almost completely destroyed.
By 1928, Bai Xiong He continued to win against Chuong Tung Suong's army,
continuing to capture 20,000 of his remaining 5,000 soldiers,
and a little more to capture Chuong Tung Suong.
Bai Xiong He also commanded the vanguard units to advance into Beijing
and was considered the commander-in-chief of the end of the Northern France.
With these achievements, he was honored with the title of Little Jackal.
During the period of peace from 1930 to 1936,
Bai Xiong He tried to rebuild the Western Province
and become a model province with a progressive march system.
Also, since the Sino-Japanese War of 1937-1945,
the Western Province has provided more than 90,000 soldiers in this war.
Bai Xiong He was also appointed as Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Nationalist Army.
He was the key strategist who convinced Tuong Dua Thach
to apply the strategy of totalitarian war.
Accordingly, the Chinese army will attack behind the enemy's back,
destroying the rear when there is a chance.
When the Japanese army is equipped and trained better than the attack,
the Chinese army will use the strategy of landing on the enemy's front
to cut off their supply.
Thanks to this great military talent,
the Western Province has gone from one battle to another
in front of a fierce Japanese army,
which is quite different from a weak and merciless China
before the Japanese invasion that we used to know.
Bai Xiong He participated in many important campaigns,
including the great victories in Shandong in the spring of 1938,
when he, together with General Lee Tung-yuen,
defeated the enemy, which was still outnumbered at that time.
After that, he also participated in the defeat of the Japanese in the Western Province.
In the next period,
Bai Xiong He was appointed as the commander of the naval office
in the military council in Kuilin.
In this position,
he was the one who had the greatest contribution
in the successful defense in Changsha,
the capital of Hunan Province.
From 1939 to 1942,
the Japanese army attacked Changsha three times in total,
but all of them were left behind by Bai Xiong He's army.
Right after that,
Bai Xiong He led the army to take back the southwestern Guangxi Province
and won the battle.
Bai Xiong He's Guangxi army
was regarded as the dominant force in the anti-Japanese war,
and Bai Xiong He was also regarded as a capable general
who led the entire battle of China
in the event that the Japanese invaders were assassinated.
To be honest,
Bai Xiong He was one of the generals
who had the greatest contribution
in defeating the Japanese invaders of the Chinese people,
and it is true that he should be rewarded
with some kind of reward
after the end of the war.
Even at the beginning of the next war,
the civil war,
Bai Xiong He still did very well.
In the spring of 1946,
a unit of the People's Liberation Army of China,
Tinh Nguyet,
including 10 soldiers
under the command of General Lam Miu,
occupied an important road in Tu Binh.
The People's Liberation Army could not defeat Lam Miu,
and Tieu Dua Thach
forced Bai Xiong He, the commander-in-chief,
to directly command the battle.
After a few changes,
the People's Liberation Army
immediately won
only after two days of fighting.
This was the first important victory
of the People's Liberation Army
during the civil war.
In addition to Bai Xiong He's victory in the battle,
he was officially promoted to Minister of Defense.
At that time,
everything was in the hands of Bai Xiong He,
and everything led him to the peak of human life.
But life is not like a dream.
During that time,
no one could have imagined
that he would fall into the abyss
just like another general
who was also famous in World War II,
that is, the legendary Lenso Zhukov.
Just like George Zhukov,
because of his straight personality,
he could disobey the command of the commander
if he saw that they were unreasonable.
Bai Xiong He was gradually isolated
and began to be pushed back in the following months.
He was overwhelmed by his talent.
He was never a low-ranking military officer
of Tuong Dua Thach.
Bai Xiong He was a military officer with his own views,
which often caused him to conflict with his commander.
Therefore, he was often harmed by Tuong Dua Thach.
Right after the end of the Northern France War,
Tuong Dua Thach began to try to disperse the Western forces,
including a plan to assassinate Bai Xiong He.
So sometime in 1929,
he had to flee to Vietnam.
In June 1946,
Bai Xiong He officially became Minister of Defense.
But in fact,
this was just an unfaithful title.
Because they thought they had gradually abandoned Bai Xiong He
in important decisions.
Tuong Dua Thach held daily meetings in Tu Dinh
but did not invite Bai Xiong He
and began to voluntarily command the front units
to ignore Bai Xiong He's orders.
Bai Xiong He then came to Manchuria
and proposed to destroy the local Communist Party
under the authority of General Lam Biu.
However, Tuong Dua Thach did not accept his plan.
And this is what made Bai Xiong He leave the war.
By the end of 1948,
the civil war between the Communist Party and the People's Republic of China
and the victory of the Communist Party
was just a matter of time.
In January 1949,
after Tuong Dua Thach resigned as President,
Di Tong Nhan became President.
Bai Xiong He was re-appointed by his old friend.
However, although he fought a fierce battle
in the Central and Southwest China,
the Communist Party's army was defeated every day.
Then, in October 1949,
he planned for the last anti-communist war
in the South China Sea
and his hometown, Guangxi Province,
but it didn't go anywhere.
And at the end of that year,
he was forced to flee to Taiwan,
where he lived the rest of his life.
After arriving in Taiwan,
he was appointed Vice President of the Strategic Advisory Committee
Vice President.
He also continued to serve in the Central Committee of the Communist Party.
He joined the party reorganization
from 1950 to 1952.
He and Tuong can never be reconciled in the future.
And then he lived in the end of his life,
when he died on December 1, 1966,
at the age of 73.
Bai Xiong He was buried according to military rites
with a flag of the National People's Republic of China.
Ending the life of a brave general,
but with a humiliating fate.
Responsibility to the people
As a Muslim patriot,
Bai Xiong He had a very right idea
about the responsibility of religion to the nation,
as well as a general with a peaceful spirit,
a very educational national harmony.
When the Manchukuo was ruled by the Japanese,
Mongolia was ruled by the People's Republic of Mongolia,
and Xinjiang was oppressed by the Soviet Union.
Bai Xiong He called on the People's Republic of China
to help these ethnic groups kick out foreigners,
not just for his hometown in Guangxi.
Bai Xiong He also wanted to lead a troop
to recapture Xinjiang for China.
Unlike the Soviet Union,
which often retreats when China occupies it,
the Chinese do not care about the Soviet Union
as we often hear on the media.
Bai Xiong He is very concerned about the unity of the nation.
According to him, the anti-Japanese war
is also a religious mission
for all Chinese Muslims.
Bai Xiong He also supported the printing
of the words in the Koran and Hadith
to encourage the role of the Chinese leader of each ethnic group.
They highlighted the Chinese nationalism
and the reunification of the Han Dynasty in the anti-Japanese war.
During the war,
Bai Xiong He also visited the northwestern provinces of China
according to the Islamic law
and persuaded many soldiers here to actively participate in the anti-Japanese war.
These are also the very progressive thoughts
that Vietnam is also learning today.
It is a pity that in the turbulent times,
the Chinese are the losers in the war.
So in the end,
Bai Xiong He's efforts to unite the nation
did not bring any results.

about the great religions of mankind
with a full amount of knowledge
and extremely interesting.
To learn more about this book,
I will put it in the description of the video.
In addition to a very advanced ideology
about ethnicity and religion,
Bai Xiong He is also a talented and generous politician.
In February 1947,
many riots broke out in Taiwan
due to the incompetence of officials from the central government
and the suppression of the Communist Party
resulted in the death of both mainlanders and mainlanders.
Bai Xiong He was sent to investigate
and help resolve with the local people.
During his two-week trip,
he directly exchanged with many parts of the Taiwanese people.
Thanks to this, he has come up with many measures
to help stabilize the situation on the island,
including the replacement of the governor
and the detention of the Taiwanese police chief.
He also generously donated to the students who caused the riots
with the condition that their parents have to take care of them.
Because of his straightforward actions,
the local Taiwanese were very respectful of General Bai.
After the People's Republic of China had to flee to Taiwan,
Bai Xiong He's Chinese friend, Li Teng-yen,
decided to live in exile in the United States.
At the same time, they tried to persuade Bai Xiong He to go to the United States,
but Bai Xiong He did not listen.
At that time, he believed that as long as he went to Taiwan,
the People's Republic of China's military was still there,
he still had a chance to contribute to the country.
In his daily life,
Bai Xiong He also opposes the rule of law,
opposes the beating and shooting of soldiers,
advocates hard work,
prohibits smoking and banning gambling.
He also opposes bad habits.
He is the one who knows how to control himself
in the ruling class of the Communist Party
and often leaves a good voice for himself.
Even Mao Zedong later
also highly respected this general.
Mao once wanted to reuse him,
even seduced him with the leadership of the Communist Army.
Even Americans are very respectful of Bai Xiong He.
Evan Carlson, the U.S. Army Commander-in-Chief,
said about Bai Xiong He that
he was seen by many as the best general
in the ranks of the Chinese army.
The famous journalist, Edgar Snow,
even called him one of the smartest
and most powerful commanders
compared to any other force in the world.
It is a pity that Bai Xiong He
did not have the right choice
about the path he pursued.
Even when he was persecuted by the Communist Party,
he still fought to the end.
Therefore, since he closed his eyes,
the talent of Bai Xiong He
has not been able to contribute to the country
in a worthy way.
In general,
Bai Xiong He is one of the best commanders
in the history of China
thanks to his use of strategies
and tactics that are very flexible and accurate.
Therefore,
he can often defeat an overwhelming force
compared to himself.
It is also seen that
he won more than he lost on the battlefield.
Bai Xiong He is also a politician
with a progressive mindset
about national harmony,
as well as a person who is kind to the people.
It is a pity that
he committed war crimes
during the 1927 Shanghai Massacre,
so there are still some bad marks
in his file.
In fact,
Bai Xiong He was the last loser
and accepted to run away.
History often honors heroes,
the winners,
but few people remember a loser,
especially when Bai Xiong He
was not even a commander.
Therefore,
the name Bai Xiong He
may continue to appear
on all media
and he will remain in the dark
for many more years.
