This safari camps truly brings the word exclusivity to another level. Soroi Larsens Camp located inside the Samburu National Reserve is divided in two sections. One side is the safari camp with nice canvas tents, a pool, a beautiful outdoor dining room by the river and more. But the other side, where we had the opportunity to stay for two night, is truly it's own world.
We spent the weekend in onw of their two luxury safari villas. On top of being large, cozy and beautiful, they both have their own plunge pool, a nice view of the river on one side and mountain on the other AND... An elevated star bed to sleep in comfort under the stars.
The villa side is also more than just the accommodations. It has its own reception and pick-up / drop-off point for game drives. It has a nice fireplace and it is also possible to have your meal in or outside of your own private villa. This felt truly exclusive!
And just in case you thought that this was all well, it is not. The villas even have a shared underground photo hide for the true wildlife photographers!
Have a look at their other properties as well. We personally have been to Soroi Lion's Bluff and Soroi Luxury Migration and highly recommend both camps. https://soroi.com/

So a few years ago, this place was flooded and had to shut down.
But Soroy Collection came to the rescue and rebuilt this place from the ground up.
Welcome to Larsens by Soroy.
And have you seen where we're at?
Let me start off by saying that there's actually two of these deluxe suites here on property.
Let me show you ours.
And we'll explain more later what you really feel like you're not a part of the camp
and it's exclusive just to you.
So as you can see, we have a massive balcony here.
And then I'm telling you, this tent just keeps on going.
I'm on monkey patrol.
There's like five monkeys out there and this should be locked.
So let's see if we can get away with this tour before a monkey comes in.
Okay, so to start our tour, we have a king size bed here.
My favorite thing about the entire suite is honestly the painting right here.
I don't know the colors, the vibe of it.
It just fits perfectly in here.
Next.
I would say this is section two.
Yes, this suite comes in sections.
We have a wardrobe area with a safe mini bar there.
We have a cooler.
Then we have a separate sink here.
Again, love this style.
Everything just fits in perfectly like you're on safari.
Section number three, we have a little enclosed area here.
So if it was raining or something, you could have a meal there, sit and have your coffee.
Kind of like a living sitting station, which you don't expect to have in a tent.
Lastly, we have a porch here.
And this porch even has your own private plunge pool and a double lounger here as well.
Something to note, and I don't know why, but I just clicked into this now,
is you actually have two different views with your two different porches.
That side, you have the river view and this side, you have the plains.
And actually straight ahead in the background, we even have Mount Ololokwe there.
Wilson, we're ready.
Now that you've seen where we're staying,
time to go on a little game drive in Samburu.
One of my best paws for a game drive.
Once again, welcome.
Thank you very much.
Okay, so you're ready to explore Samburu?
Yes, of course.
Hopefully a lot of elephants.
That's our favorite.
Yeah.
So we just started our game drive.
And as usual, we kind of talk about like what we expect to see.
We're not that picky.
Whatever we see, we see.
But we did hear that there is a cheetah mom with a couple cubs around.
So maybe, just maybe, we'll get lucky.
Safaris are all about teamwork.
The safari guides are always calling each other on the radio
every time there's like good sighting somewhere.
But they're also calling each other when they're stuck.
And now, we're going to rescue someone.
Everyone's back on the road.
We found the cheetahs.
There's five altogether.
Mama and four cubs.
Very successful game drive.
Thank you very much.
Excuse me.
For now, we're gonna go to the campfire.
Maybe have a glass of wine and then have some supper.
If you ask us, we'll always tell you that
evenings at safari camps are always the best.
A little glass of wine.
Sundowner.
Just settling down for the night.
And some delicious food.
I'm all about that.
Oh, little mangoose.
Successful first day.
It was.
Good food.
We saw a lot, I would say.
Especially for being in Samburu.
Like on one game drive in an hour and a half.
Yeah.
Like we got really lucky.
So now, we're gonna get some sleep.
Morning safari is tomorrow.
Meaning early morning.
Yeah.
As usual.
But it's gonna be a good day.
And we're gonna do it all over again tomorrow.
Yeah.
With a little twist.
Yeah.
Because tomorrow, we're gonna explore a little bit more of this villa side.
Yeah.
See you in the morning.
Good morning.
We slept well.
Probably not as well as tonight.
You'll see.
But now, it is 6 a.m.
And it's time to go on a game drive.
Good morning.
How are you?
Good.
Are you ready?
I'm ready.
Perfect.
You had a good night?
Yeah.
Very nice.
Welcome to Bush Breakfast.
We have, of course, the most important thing.
Coffee.
I chose to forego my coffee this morning.
Regret at that.
We have mimosas fruits.
We have the pastry station with juices.
And, of course, your live cooking station.
These are the fanciest champagne flutes I've ever seen in the bush.
I think they're my favorite.
Thank you very much.
Thank you so much.
Thank you, chef.
Great omelette.
There's truly nothing else that will make your safari morning better
than a nice little bush breakfast,
especially if you can find a spot by a river.
It was very nice and delicious.
Special shout out to the chef.
His crepes were fantastic.
Hey guys, time to address the elephant in the room.
Not this one.
This one.
I actually forgot my favorite sunglasses on a Qatar flight on our way back from Bahrain.
So I kept those in the meantime.
I don't really like them, but I got another pair on the way.
I know you guys are going to ask because it's kind of like my brand, but yeah.
Thank you very much.
So normally we save the best for last,
but this property has something extremely unique,
and let's go check it out.
Welcome to the photo hut.
This is a place that I can imagine would be a photographer, videographer's dream.
You can come down here,
and if you want to spend the night down here, the day out here,
and just wait until something comes, you can.
So they have it set it up with bunk beds here,
so you can still get a couple hours rest if you choose to,
but come to the main attraction.
Inside here, you are eye level to the watering hole right here.
And you've got everything you need.
You've got all of the lights here perfectly programmed
so that you can choose your lighting that you need.
You even have your cushions here.
Put your cameras on.
You have your chairs, some couches.
What more could you ask for?
So now that we've showed you that amazing place,
let's go see the rest of camp.
So I want to start off by clearing the air basically.
So for those of you who may not know,
Saroy is actually part of Sun World Safaris.
Not too long ago, they just kind of restructured
and put all of their camps under Saroy.
So now when you see like our Instagram tags
that are tagging Saroy, Larson's Camp, this is why.
But still the same service,
the same thing that you can expect with Sun World Safari,
it's still them.
So behind me is actually the entrance,
and this is not the main entrance.
When you book one of the deluxe suites,
so there's two of them on site here,
and they each have their own star bed,
you come to your own private entrance.
And this is where we showed up yesterday.
You start your game drives from here, everything like that.
You really don't have to leave this area
if you don't want to.
But of course, we like splitting half and half,
so let's go show you the rest of the camp.
So it looks so much further on the camera
than what it actually is,
but there is a big bull elephant back there.
Keep in mind, this camp is unfenced during the day
as long as you stick to the paths,
obviously, unless there's an animal in the path,
you're good to go.
But at night, make sure you have your guard.
There's definitely a little something in there.
I'm thinking a naked mole rat.
Normally, those are the ones where digging those holes.
So on property here, there's 17 tents total.
That includes the two deluxe suites
that we are in right now,
and then 15 luxury suites here
that does also have family suites included in that.
So behind me, they even have a beautiful spa
and there are two massage rooms.
They're just like screened in and overlooking the plains.
So you have a beautiful view while you get your massage.
And right beside it is the pool.
So if there's a lot of people here,
they can even open the bar there
and have a bar at the pool as well.
So in some parks, it's pretty complicated
to have a sundowner actually
while you're on your game drive
because some parks don't allow it
because you can't be out after the sun goes down.
That being said,
some world took it into their own hands
and they built their own sundowner deck here.
So you don't have to worry about that.
It's overlooking the beautiful plains
and sunsets directly right there.
It's the perfect sundown spot.
Coming in from the main entrance,
you come into the heart of the camp here.
So on this side, we have reception.
Right behind reception, we have a shop there.
We have a covered dining area
if the weather's not allowing
and there's a bar in there as well.
But the main dining area is actually straight ahead
right on the river.
Oh, and by the time you see this video,
they'll have a proper pizza oven.
You guys know how much I love pizza.
So extra point right there.
Now that we've shown you the camp,
it's time for us to have lunch.
Hopefully, this is gonna be our last meal of the day here
because we have a special spot tonight.
But this there,
the rain that might or might not be coming
might have to change our plans.
We'll see.
I got the beef sirloin for lunch
and it is so good.
The quality of the meat and how it's seasoned,
it's like a solid 10 out of 10.
On another note, the rain is definitely coming.
The wind just started to pick up.
I can hear the thunder at a distance.
We're gonna eat it.
Lunch was great.
Now, one thing is left to do.
Waiting to be rained on.
The thunder is clapping.
I can feel a little bit of water on my skin.
I think it's coming.
Hopefully, it's just gonna downpour
for just like, you know, 15-30 minutes
and then we're gonna be good for the rest of the day.
Fingers crossed.
So on a safari,
you end up spending a lot of time
in the safari vehicle.
And you guys know
that our favorite kind of safari vehicle
are the open kind.
Basically, the opposite to
what we've been using since we arrived.
But we wanted to show you that here at Larsen's,
they actually have the open one as well,
which are much better.
And we are back from the game drive.
Two fun facts.
First of all, gravy zebras are actually very in danger.
And for the first time,
we've seen over 40 of them in one herd.
Even like our guide was like blown away.
So that was very cool.
Second, did you know that
a fully grown adult elephant
can have up to 9 liters of water in its trunk?
It's pretty cool, right?
So now it's time to get ready
for our safari evening
with our outdoor bathroom.
Now let's go for a little sundowner.
As luck would have it,
the minute we rolled the bed,
it was hard to sleep at night.
It started raining.
So we gave it like 45 minutes.
It's not stopping right now.
So we brought the bed back inside.
We're still going to sleep here.
It's not going to stop us
from sleeping up on our platform.
We've jigged it so that we still get airflow
and hopefully should stay dry.
We might wake up in the middle of the night
and have to rejig it, but that's okay.
It's part of the adventure and we've accepted it.
Did it rain all night?
Yes.
Did we get thunder and lightning?
Yes.
Is this the best design for our bed?
Yes.
Okay.
So for the star bed itself,
you actually have a glass top.
So if by chance it's perfectly fine
and it just sprinkles, you're protected.
The net, instead of having the pain
of like tucking it under the bed,
which is fine,
these actually zip you all in.
So like you have all the space.
It's fantastic.
And if you're like us
and are too stubborn to go and sleep in the main tent,
you can basically convert your little platform
into like a tree house.
Yeah.
Because half of the platform has a solid roof
and like canvas that you can actually zip down.
So you're completely protected.
So we spent the night here
under like thunder and lightning once again
and we were like totally fine.
And then this morning, it's just like cloudy,
but we decided to just push it out
and truly enjoy it for a few minutes.
So as we are filming this video,
it is currently rainy season here in Kenya
and we've never seen Samburu this green.
Like there's green grass.
By far.
Like right here.
Yeah.
It is insane.
Last year when we were here,
they had a drought.
Earlier when we came this year,
it was still extremely dry.
We didn't even see,
I don't think we've ever seen water in that river.
And now the river is flowing,
the mountains are green,
there's grass everywhere.
It is beautiful.
I like this green Samburu thing.
I got the eggs benedict with bacon, of course.
And I got the Larsen's breakfast,
which is basically like eggs,
some very thick looking chapatis with curried yogurt.
It's different, but it's really good.
Yeah?
Now that our bellies are full,
there's no better way to end the morning
than going to the spa.
Well, while Tracy's having her massage,
I'm going to start packing for our next adventure,
aka going home.
I know what you're saying, ladies.
Stop looking.
The husband store is out of this model.
I know what you're going to say.
Nice hat.
Thank you.
Hey, they even leveled up their water bottles.
That's true.
Their water bottles are so nice.
Oh yeah, they deserve the award
for the best safari water bottle ever.
It's like sleek and just, I don't know.
It's beautiful.
Anyways, our thoughts about here.
This is in the top tier for me,
especially with the deluxe suite.
I have no doubt that the regular luxury suites
are just as great.
But Sunworld, their service is consistent
against all properties.
So this is the third Sunworld property we've been to.
Lions Bluff, luxury migration.
And you know what you're getting
when you come to these properties.
And I think that's a very important point.
And as we showed you guys,
like the other side,
like with the pool, the restaurant,
like it is very nice.
But like the villa side, the two villas,
it's its own category.
It is so nice.
The villas are massive.
The fact that it comes with an outdoor shower
and a star bed is just fantastic.
That's exactly what I was going to say.
Right on the riverbank,
it doesn't get much better than that.
On the star bed point,
the fact that you don't have to book it,
it's yours.
It's there.
It's if you use it, use it.
If you don't, you don't.
So that's another big, big plus.
Food was great.
Staff are fantastic as usual.
Their staff actually rotates from property to property.
So we recognize a lot of them.
Yeah, actually from luxury migration.
Yeah.
So yeah, you'll never regret coming here.
And make sure you let them know
if we sent you from our video,
if you saw it from us.
Yeah, for sure.
You'll never regret coming here
or any other of their properties,
to be honest.
Like Tracy said, it's our third one
and we always, always had a good time.
We even brought our sister out
at one of their properties.
So anyway, we're going to put
all their information down below.
It is time for us to go back home, sadly.
Until our next adventure.
But until next time, see you guys.
In the next one.
Bye.
