Vlog number two.
I'm in Varanasi right now, on the edge of the Ganges River.
We've been spending the past two weeks traveling through India, and we've had the most incredible
experience.
Found Chelsea.
Hi.
Hi, hi, hi.
And now we are going into the chaos of India.
Sunrise number one.
So after shooting sunrise this morning in New Delhi, we're off to Udaipur for the next
four days, and then Jodhpur, and then back to Delhi.
We're running for our flight right now.
Chelsea's got the pizza.
We made it.
The last one's on the airplane.
We almost missed it for pizza, guys.
We would be spending the next four days exploring this beautiful city, sometimes referred to
as the Venice of the East, and I can totally see why.
Sunrise in Udaipur.
It's a little bit chilly.
We're going to go down there.
How are you?
Good.
Fine.
I like your sweater.
It's very cool.
Thank you.
We're going to continue.
So rich.
Yeah.
So a group of girls came and found us today after we shot sunrise.
Hi.
And they really want to take Chelsea's sari shopping, so we're going to go find a sari
for Chelsea.
This should be pretty fun.
Chelsea loves it when all the buses honk the horns at us.
After spending an awesome afternoon exploring the local side of Udaipur, it was time to
go shoot sunset.
It was a pretty hard hike.
Yeah.
But we did it.
Made it.
I carried all the bags.
Yeah.
She's Chelsea the Sherpa, is what they call her here in India.
Kidding.
It's so cool, though.
It's so pretty.
It is way too cool for the amount of effort that we put into it.
Later that evening, we went for a local dinner.
It didn't go over so well the next day, and on our way to Jodhpur, I was the first to
go down.
Chelsea soon followed.
So after a super brief stop in Jodhpur, which pretty much just consisted of 24 hours of
food poisoning, we are on our way to Varanasi.
It's been a rough day.
I see.
We're sitting in the world's biggest traffic jam, and there's no end in sight.
It's that oncoming traffic.
And I can hear it hitting the windshields of oncoming cars.
Varanasi is known as the spiritual capital of India.
For thousands of years, Hindu pilgrims have performed rituals in the nearly 2,000 temples
around this amazing city.
Every evening, there's a huge religious gathering on the edge of the Ganges River as an offering
to the river goddess, Ganja.
I think it was the best way to end our experience in Varanasi.
Our next stop was Agra.
This city is home to arguably the most famous building in India, a tomb for the ancient
king's wife, and one of the seven new wonders of the world, the mind-blowing Taj Mahal.
So it's 4.15 in the morning here in Agra, and it's Holi Festival today, which means
everyone is going to be tossing paint at each other, and it will be absolute madness.
So we currently have 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 people in one little tuk-tuk.
It's the nicest I've ever seen.
It is Holi Festival.
I just got here, as you can tell.
Oh, that's a good one!
Happy Holi!
We entered the streets where the Holi festivities were taking place, and soon realized that
it wasn't all fun and games.
After about 10 minutes, Chelsea went back to the car, and I continued to try and get
some shots.
The drunk locals soon became apparent.
Holi is a festival that celebrates happiness and love.
However, this meaning quickly feels lost in all the chaos.
Just went in there and got my shirt ripped off.
At the start of the day, everyone's fine, but by the end, everyone's drunk.
And it turns to absolute chaos.
Alright, I'm going to go back to the car and try and sort myself out.
I wouldn't necessarily say Holi is particularly fun, but it is an experience.
I'm not going to come back and do it again.
It's something that's been on my bucket list for a long time, and I think you get a very
different perception of what it is, or maybe that's just what happened for us, but it's
not something I would probably recommend for travellers.
Just groping and grabbing and everything.
If it's on your bucket list, I might take it off the bucket list.
Later that afternoon, we met up with some friends and had our own private Holi event.
This was a lot more fun, and I would definitely recommend doing it this way.
Our next stop was the beautiful city of Jaipur.
The capital of India's Rajasthan state.
We spent our last few days exploring everything the city had to offer.
On the trip to India, Chelsea and I decided that India is not a vacation, it's an experience.
An experience I think everyone should have at least some point in their life, because
it is truly life-changing.
The smells, sounds, colours, religion, language, people, animals, the list is endless.
See you in the next vlog.
