Chapters: 0:00 Welcome To Bang Bang In Nairobi 1:29 More Food Than We Could Eat 10:00 Our Honest Review Of Bang Bang
if there's one thing that Nairobi is
lacking is good Tha food but there is a
new restaurant here in Nairobi who is
stepping up to the plate welcome to bang
[Music]
bang Hi how are you how are
you I have to say this is the most
beautiful menu I've ever seen it's
wrapped in leather and first of all you
have the story and then you have all the
menu on the right side but on the back
side is actually photos of bang bang
through his life and I assume I saw back
in here I would assume his
grandmother it's here correct me if I'm
wrong but it's just a really stunning
menu so you might be wondering what who
why bang bang um bang bang is actually a
person from Thailand who was raised by
his grandmother and he had a lot of
different hats I can't remember them all
so just excuse me here he was a Muay
Thai Champion a Hollywood star a
politician an entrepreneur a restaurant
restaurant is that how I say that
restaurant owner yeah it's just not WR
that way um and a singer and my favorite
part about him being a singer it says
here that he actually won a national
singing contest performing pad TI's love
which it was a tribute to his
grandmother so that's where the name
bang bang comes from Patti we have to
have P it's like our favorite and I I'm
sure that it's good oh definitely
definitely you'll feel the thail perfect
that's what I want back to the streets
of Bangkok but um for for the rest I
leave it to you okay definitely perfect
my passport is ready take me to
Thailand so I know you guys are always
curious about prices I'm going to give
you a few like starters or all around
about 1,000 gon Shillings um from Pai to
PAC to stay I mean I don't know if you
know those words but the all TI name um
even the dumplings around thousand as
well same thing Mains are you know about
1,000 to 15 something like that it's
it's fairly reasonable like I mean if
the food is good I think like these
price make sense the only thing that's
very expensive is a lobster papy at
7,500 it must be like premium Lobster so
I would say that's like their most
signature dish or something because when
you look down on the signature dish uh
menu they're more on the pricey side
like 3,000 yeah and there's nothing else
close to that price but there is a lot
better like easy pricing everything like
that good prices I'm so hungry right now
I'm sorry I'm
[Music]
distracted
so for starting we have papaya salace
and which is basically like a beef salad
it smells so good ready let's dig in
let's start off with the papaya
salad so let's start with the papaya
salad oh spicy mhm this is not like the
normal papaya that like you would get
here in Canya like completely different
taste or it is and it's just ripe we
still haven't figured that out that's
fair my point is doesn't taste like
normal papaya the fruit Dave got scared
when you heard about papaya I don't like
papaya I like this though it is really
spicy guys I say it's really good though
yeah now
the
Nong is that it so good
I that's so nice because the two salads
are completely different very different
one is like very fresh very like spicy
the other one is like neat very earthy
and I'm always sketch out like edible
flowers oops I know you can eat them but
I I just don't want
to one thing I have to say the staff
here super friendly from the chef to the
waitress to the hostesses those are the
two first Smiles that you're going to
see when you arrive here at bang bang
it's worth it to come just for that
[Music]
yeah
[Music]
okay so now to try they brought out even
more
stars we're going to be that's the thing
like when a restaurant invites us to
like try the food and show it to you
guys they want us to like try as many as
possible so we got the fried chicken
with some sauce that looks really sticky
and very delicious we got chicken on
skewer with delicious peanut sauce and
we have a soup with the largest shrimp
I've have ever seen in my life life look
at this okay I'm trying the chicken and
peanut oh that is a thick peanut
sauce that's a good stuff can I like
have a bottle of that sauce to take home
just let me put some in your glass for
you man you have to try that like I'm
not even exaggerating okay yeah wow
that's good peanut sauce that hands down
the best peanut sauce we've ever had
yeah okay fried chicken I think is that
one
bite best day
ever
[Music]
I'm
speechless now the giant shrimp soup the
soup is good it's very lemony the
quality of the meat the shrimp is
amazing but like for my taste it's
nothing compared to two other appetizer
like these two chicken ones are like a
10 out of 10 but the meat though the
meat is very good the shrimp is very
good trac's picking away like the food
and like she just dropped some like
straight on my pants normally like I
dirty my pants on my own but not not a
big deal cuz you always dirty them
[Music]
[Applause]
[Music]
anyway okay so as you saw we had a
requirement we had to have pad tie so
they gave us a lobster pad tie and as
you know we already talked about it that
is the most expensive pad tie on the
menu if you get this it will ser two
people so please keep that in mind it's
massive it's bigger than my head but
that's what we're going to try first so
pad tie is the true test it is the most
massive dish I ever had in a restaurant
okay ready let's
go back in the streets of
Bangkok 100% I'm curious with that fried
Lobster is this maybe
not yeah oh wow oh wow it's a lober just
can I just cut it in half no all in I'm
hesitating because Lobster isn't my
favorite food so I'm a little
worried that's a pretty good laer come
on it's like tossed in like the pat Tha
sauce so it doesn't like everything
everything go so up next we have Pat guy
gr pow and I remember eating that on a
food tour actually in Bangkok so let's
see if it's as good
it's actually better yeah that's sorry
I'm like waiting for the kick to hit cuz
I remember this entirely too and this
has two to three spice but I would say
it's probably less spicier than the
papay salad yeah so there's a lot of
spicy food on the menu but it all tells
you like how spicy it is from one chili
to three chili of I think you could
customized too with the yeah that's
not too spicy that's very good yeah the
first papaya salad that we had was too
chili and this is also too chili if
that's too chili the papaya salad
deserves three chili preserve five chili
yeah it was very spicy it was so good
but
like yeah it was my limit this is not as
spicy as the Papo salad at all no I just
want all the lobster and our third Yes
you heard that right third man is
actually a vegetable veget it's a
vegetable one PA and just read my lips
here
f f f i mean we could not be pronouncing
this properly at all just that why has
like a charcoal taste like it was
grilled or something that's nice oh yeah
that's
[Music]
true right now like I'm Soul full it's
not even funny and I feel like they're
going to bring dessert I don't know how
I'm going to do
that that Lobster though that was
delicious this is a
mango perfect looks delicious the mang
but the mangoes are look oh last dish
right you promise okay okay so the last
dish very last is actually mango sticky
rice it's like a super popular Street
dish um in Thailand which is the only
place we've had it before so this is
mango sticky rice but with Kenyan
mangoes yes local Kenyan mangoes you're
know wa for me
okay can I say something and be
honest the one time I had it in Thailand
maybe it just wasn't the best vendor I
actually said I didn't like it that's
true if you look back in the video it's
there I really like this I don't know if
it's just the rice has better like
sweetness to it I don't know but it's
cuz it's a Kenyan
mango
let us tell you about bang bang so I
think we forgot to say it's actually in
Village Market so right beside the local
Grill and it's still owned by the tribe
family so tribe trademark hero another
favorite of ours um Harvest same company
same person so we just had a long
conversation with the chef and like I'm
really impressed first of all you know
it's a Thai restaurant he's from
Thailand I love that he knows what's up
with Thai food but also he has so much
experience he's been in the restoration
business for decades open several
restaurant all around the world and you
can tell because the flavor is truly
there in every single bite yes and
special shout out to the staff like
between the chef himself and just all of
the staff everyone was so nice but
friendly smiling yes but you know how
sometimes you're like oh it's your job
you like you just have to they truly
enjoyed being here and it made me enjoy
my experience even more apart from the
food so ABS anyway super good experience
we will definitely be back I'll probably
be back here for my birthday to be
honest like we are in love with this
place and that's pretty much it I am
full I need to go to bed it's late so
until next time see you guys in the next
one
