Sunny beach, endless blue, can you imagine that this is not a sea, but a lake?
Here you can experience, camping in the woods, and tranquility by the lake.
This time I travel alone, I will try to camp in a car without equipment.
The sun is bright and clear, and the lakeside and sandy beaches are long.
Here, you can enjoy the largest lake in the United States, also known as Lake Michigan as "the third coast".
This is Indiana Dunes National Park.
Today I will share with you, how to avoid crowds, you can also enjoy the travel strategy of the national park beach for free.
As one of the five great lakes in North America, Lake Michigan, together with Lake Superior, Lake Huron, and Lake Erie, is injected into Lake Ontario through Niagara Falls.
Indiana Dunes National Park, just an hour's drive from Chicago.
Across the state line and across a few highway toll booths,
we're now at the park entrance. As soon as
I show her this national park annual pass, I'm ready to go in.
Here's a map of the park.
The park you see is a long strip, and the blue area is Lake Michigan.
Indiana Dunes are divided into national parks and state parks. If you buy this national park annual pass, you must go to the national park area.
There is an additional fee for state parks.
If you want to experience the official and popular "Hike the Three Dunes" challenge, you can choose to pay extra and queue up to the state park area.
In the national park area, except for the popular [West Beach], which is the first stop today, it is a fee area, most of the others are open and free of charge.
So if you want to avoid crowds, reduce fatigue, and just want to relax by the beach, then you should watch my itinerary today.
Our first stop now is "West Beach". let us get started now.
I basked in the sun all afternoon.
I will go to the campsite now.
Is it necessary to have sophisticated equipment for camping?
Will expensive and tedious outdoor preparations put you off?
In fact, you don't have to have a tent or RV to go camping. Enjoy nature, everyone is equal.
So today I'm going to challenge the anti-sophistication, no-equipment, minimalist, car camping.
Different from a hotel for one or two hundred dollars one night, let's see what a campsite looks like for only 25 dollars a night?
First of all, the most important thing about camping is the safety of the environment. I usually walk around the camp to check the ground.
Just said hello to the neighbors. The average national park can stay for 14 consecutive days.
Generally, the campsites in the national parks are under unified management standards, and the RVs that come to camp here are also familiar with the rules.
Come to the camping site I booked, and prepare briefly.
I opened all 4 doors to ventilate the car at night.
Generally, each campsite will be equipped with picnic tables, fire rings, two parking spaces, and two tent areas.
Then I'm going to have dinner now.
This campground is also very beautiful in the evening. Now go take a shower.
Camp washrooms are generally equipped with dish wash sinks, drinking water, and sanitary sinks.
Some of the better facilities will have charging piles or private bathrooms.
It is recommended to look at whether there is a bathroom in and near the camp before booking, especially in summer, if you can take a bath, it will greatly improve the camping experience.
Friends who have watched my Smokies adventures know that this is the second time I have camped overnight in my car.
The bath just now was so comfortable. Now I'll show you my car for the night. The first thing to do is block the curtains.
Probably like this. The front is blocked by the sunshade cover. And the roof window is open.
Now my car has been blown very cool by the air conditioner.
Then lock the car from the inside and it's OK to rest.
I'm going to bed now, good night, see you tomorrow morning.
Good morning. Now get ready to go out and feel the first sunlight.
There are standards for camp management, but there are no standards for how to travel. You don't need to care about other people's thoughts. As long as you like it, it is the best way.
In fact, the decision to camp in the car this time is to prepare for my next longer road trip.
Like the NBA preseason, after this camping in the car, I knew what to do in the official game.
This is the end of the trip to Indiana Dunes National Park.
Compared with traveling with companions who need tolerance, understanding and mutual support,
your abilities in traveling alone will be magnified,
and it is also an excellent opportunity to enjoy getting along with yourself.
