Hello everyone, today I want to knit a salt and pepper bowl with you.
Salt and pepper because we will knit it here in black and white.
And then there is a salt and pepper look.
We will knit the whole thing in full patent.
And the special thing is that we take the yarn twice.
So we knit with both threads black and white at the same time.
I use the Schachenmaier Merino Extra Fine for this bowl.
120, that's 50 grams per 120 meters.
And as I said, I'll take both of them twice.
You can find the material information below in the video description.
I still use a round knitting needle in the strength 7.0.
And now you can start.
You see, I have now taken the yarn twice.
Once the white and the black.
And I'm going to use it now as if it were a yarn.
For the bowl we start with a straight number of stitches.
I'm going to do 34 stitches.
And two at the beginning and two at the end of it.
Then we knit a so-called patent edge.
If you are still an absolute beginner in knitting, I can also link you a video below.
To the basic techniques of knitting.
That explains everything again, if you don't know how to do a stitch.
I'm not going to go into that now.
You just take it twice.
That's important.
Take both yarns and do a total of 34 stitches.
And then we'll see each other again.
I have now done my 34 stitches here.
And now we start with the full patent pattern.
The first two stitches and the last two stitches we knit the patent edge.
It works like this.
At the beginning, the first two stitches.
The first one I just take off like knitting to the left.
So I take the yarn to the front, insert it.
And now you really have to make sure that you always have both yarns on it.
That is both the white and the black, which now counts as one.
And lift the whole thing off.
Then I bring the yarn back behind the work.
And knit the next stitch to the right.
This is the patent edge.
Here at the beginning and at the end I'll show you the two again.
And then we start with the patent pattern.
Here is the preparation row.
We knit the first stitch, lift it off like knitting to the left.
For this I just take the yarn to the front.
I insert it here like knitting to the left.
And lift the whole thing off.
And then you see, there is a turn here.
And there is a kind of double stitch here.
I knit the next stitch to the right.
Then it is always alternating.
I lift the next stitch off like knitting to the left.
For this I just take the yarn to the front.
I insert it here and lift the stitch off.
And there is an automatic turn here.
And a double stitch is created.
We knit the next stitch to the right.
And we lift it off like knitting to the left.
Of course, you could also make a turn first and then lift it off.
Then we get to the same thing.
There is also the double stitch.
One stitch to the right.
I just put the yarn to the front.
I insert it here like knitting to the left.
And lift it off.
And I also have this double stitch.
And now it is always alternating.
Lift off one stitch like knitting to the left.
With yarn in front.
And one stitch to the right.
You do this until you have reached the last two stitches.
And then I will show you the pattern again.
It is always alternating.
Lift off one stitch like knitting to the left.
With yarn in front.
And one stitch to the right.
We are almost at the end.
I still have four stitches left.
Here I have just knitted a single stitch to the right.
Now a stitch to the left again.
Lift off with a turn.
One stitch to the right.
And now at the end of the row we also do the double stitch.
Here we knit the penultimate stitch.
Lift off with a turn like knitting to the left.
Then yarn to the back.
And the last stitch to the right.
So, that was row number one.
Now comes row number two.
And here we start with the double stitch.
At the beginning yarn in front of the work.
Lift off a stitch like knitting to the left.
Yarn in front of the work.
And one stitch to the right.
And now we start again with the full pattern.
Here we have the single stitches.
Lift off with a turn like knitting to the left.
And knit the double stitch to the right.
Here we have a single stitch.
Lift off with a turn.
Yarn in front.
Lift off.
Then we have a double stitch.
And this is the double stitch.
This is the stitch we lifted off to the left in the first row.
There is a stitch to the right in the second row.
Because we knit it in.
We knit it to the right.
Yarn in front.
Lift off with a turn.
Yarn in front.
Knit to the right.
Then we have a single stitch.
Yarn in front.
Lift off with a turn.
Yarn in front.
We knit the double stitch to the right.
Yarn in front.
Knit to the right.
Then we have a single stitch again.
Yarn in front.
Knit to the right.
The double stitch is the stitch with the turn.
And so on with a turn.
Lift off with a turn.
Yarn in front.
Knit to the right.
And so on with a turn until the end of the row.
Here I am at the end of the row.
Here is a double stitch, which I knit to the right.
The last two stitches form the edge of our pattern.
At the end of the row I lift off the stitch to the left.
Yarn in front.
Yarn in back.
And the next stitch to the right.
This second row, which I just showed you, is repeated.
It is very easy.
I show you again.
At the beginning, lift off the stitch to the left.
Yarn in front.
Knit to the right.
And so on with a turn.
And now we start here again.
Yarn in front.
Lift off the single stitch.
The double stitch is the stitch with the turn.
Yarn in front.
Lift off the stitch.
The double stitch is here.
At the end of the row you will have 4 yarns, because 1 stitch consists of 2 yarns.
But apart from that, the principle is clear, I think.
So, this row is repeated.
I'll knit until the end.
I have 3 stitches left at the end.
And here, the third last one, is the right stitch. I'll knit it to the right.
And here at the end, the patent edge, yarn in front of the work,
yarn behind the work, and yarn to the right.
This is how it looks so far.
You can't see much yet, because the pattern is only developed in rows.
That's why I'll knit a few rows.
Just to show you how the pattern develops.
So, you don't do anything else than repeating this row.
The first 2 stitches and the last 2 stitches are, as I said, the patent edge.
So, at the beginning, yarn in front of the work, yarn to the right,
and then we start to yarn in front of the work.
And we knit the double stitch to the right.
And at the end, we also knit the patent edge.
That means, the penultimate stitch is yarn in front of the work,
and the last stitch always to the right.
I'll knit a few rows.
And then I'll show you how the pattern develops.
So, I've knitted a few rows.
And now you can see how beautifully this full patent pattern develops.
You can see the ribs very well.
And how great this effect is,
just because we sew it together with black and white,
and sew it together as one thread.
This gives it this great salt and pepper look.
And it becomes a beautiful scarf.
A classic scarf that you can also wear in many ways,
because it has such beautiful basic colors.
And yes, you knit it as long as you want the scarf.
So, always this row, this second one I showed you.
You knit it as long as you want.
I'll do that now, and then I'll show you how long my scarf has become,
and also how to finish the scarf.
So, and when you have reached the desired length of the scarf,
I have now knitted the scarf about 160 cm long.
As I said, you can knit it as long as you want.
A nice length is about 160 to 2 meters.
And now we chain off in the pattern.
It works like this.
Here I just take off the edge stitch.
I knit the next stitch to the right,
and then I take the knitted stitch over the previous one.
Here I knit this single stitch to the left,
and then I take the stitch over it again.
I knit the double stitch, this pattern stitch, to the right,
and then I take the stitch over it again.
I'll show you that twice.
Here I knit the single stitch to the left.
So, we just chain off in the pattern,
we don't knit any more pattern stitches,
and this pattern stitch with the knit stitch,
the double stitch to the right.
And again, we take the stitch over the previous one.
Left stitch to the left,
double stitch to the right,
knit stitch over it.
And so on until the end of the row.
So, I'm almost at the end.
Here I have the double stitch, which I knit to the right,
knit stitch over it,
and here I take off the edge stitch,
knit stitch over it,
and the last stitch to the right,
and knit stitch over it.
And we're done.
Chain off, then just pull it through,
cut the yarn,
and pull it through the loop here.
And your full-patent scarf is finished,
in this beautiful salt and pepper pattern.
Of course, you'll sew up all the threads at the end.
I'll do that now as well.
And for this scarf,
for a length of 160 cm,
I used four pieces of each type,
four black and four white,
in contrasting colors.
And that's it.
I hope you enjoyed the video.
Have fun trying it out.
See you soon. Your MashaMarin.
