Christmas Gingerbread Man Polymer Clay Tutorial

The holidays are here and I couldn't get away without doing a holiday clay creation.
And when I think about the holidays, I always think about the smell of gingerbread.
So today I'm going to show you how to make this really cute gingerbread man charm.
Starting with the body, you need some brown colored clay rolled into a ball
to form the head. You're going to flatten this piece into a circle like so.
With a similar sized piece of clay, you're going to form the body and the feet.
Just flatten the clay into a ball and using an object with a straight edge,
you're going to transect one side all the way through for the feet. Just smooth out any edges.
Now to fit the head onto the body, I'm going to cut a straight
edge on the opposite side of the feet and you can stick the head on top.
And the only part missing now are the cute little arms. So grab a piece of small brown clay
and roll it into a small stubby snake. Cut it in half and you're going to attach each piece
on both sides where the neck would have been. Unfortunately for cuteness purposes,
this little gingerbread man has no neck. Great, so the body of your gingerbread man is all done.
Now I'm going to add a straight pin onto the very top so I can turn this
into a little charm. I'm actually planning on making these into earrings.
Moving on to the fun part, we're going to start decorating your little man.
Since my gingerbread is going to be a man, I'm going to give him a little red bow tie.
I'm just going to reshape this piece of red clay to essentially look like two red
spheres stuck together and I'm going to center it right below his little head.
And of course you can use a tool to help fix the shape once you put it onto your gingerbread man.
With an even smaller piece of red clay rolled into a tiny ball,
I'm going to put this on the center of the bow and there is my Hello Kitty shaped bow tie.
Moving on to the buttons, you're going to need pieces of small green clay and I'm going to give
him two small buttons down his chest. You can actually use whatever color you want,
but green goes well with the Christmas theme.
And of course, every little gingerbread man needs the tasty part, which is the frosting.
So roll out a piece of white clay into a long thin snake. You're going to cut off small pieces
of clay out to put them on each extremity. I'm going to make a small squiggle at each tip and
to make the squiggle, you're just going to need to zigzag the clay up and down.
I did this to both arms and legs like so.
All right, so to give him a little bit more color, I'm going to give him a candy cane.
So just take a piece of red and white clay and roll it into a small snake.
Now stick the two pieces together and roll them together. And to form the swirls,
you're going to hold one end and twist the other end into one direction.
And you're going to have a nice candy swirl. Just reshape this into the shape of a candy cane
and you can cut off all the excess clay. You can stick this candy cane wherever you want.
I'm just going to have him hold it in his hand.
Now your little man needs a face and for my gingerbread man, he's going to have a very
stereotypical cute face. I'm going to give him two widely spaced apart black eyes and I'm going to
give him a little bit of highlight on each eye by adding a piece of white clay in the upper left
hand corner. Instead of having some hair, he's going to have some frosting dripping down his
head. So roll some white clay balls and place them on his mid forehead evenly spaced apart.
With your fingers or clay tool, you're going to smear the clay up to the crown of the head.
Once you're done, you're going to give him a cute little smile
and you're going to give him some rosy pink cheeks and your little gingerbread man is all done.
Now he's ready to be baked and this is what my finished gingerbread man looks like.
I'm going to bake him in the oven. I preheated to 250 degrees Fahrenheit and baked him for about 15
to 20 minutes and I made two to form earrings. Now you have something incredibly festive for
the holidays. I hope you guys enjoyed this tutorial. Leave your comments below about
