Jay Peak - finally we were able to head up north with our starry eyes to experience the long awaited ski trip. How was it? Weather was good. Skiing was good, good as in average East Coast. But the day brought some awakenings as well as unpleasant surprises. Closed lifts. Lack of communication by the resort. Closed lifts. Closed Trails. Agitated lift operators. I know, we came with too much expectations. But we kinda left with the feeling that this is a great mountain, but on the first try, I wouldnt call it a great resort. :(

After many years of looking at the map and hearing all kinds of cool things about J Peak,
we were finally able to make it. It's a very long drive. It's over six hours for us to get there.
So when we finally made it, it was a little bit of excitement, a little bit of disappointment.
A lot of the lifts were closed. Some of them they opened them in the afternoon. We were not able to
take the tram to the top and ski from the top. So this is the second highest
place I believe we were able to ski on that day. We're going to show you one of the longest trails
expected maybe more snow, maybe more natural snow. Natural snow skis way better than man-made. We
didn't get much of that. When you take the tram to the very top, it takes you above the tree line.
You think that the trails are gonna be longer, better in some way, but it actually just takes
you to a ridge line that's kind of a traverse. We hiked to the top. It's not really more
interesting skiing. Unless you're coming for the glades, the tram doesn't really provide any benefit.
When you take the, I think it's called the flyer, that lift is exposed and you're sitting in a
funnel. It's very windy, it's very cold on that side of the mountain.
When we got to the left side of the mountain, it might be because it's
more north facing or something, but that was pretty much all ice.
And I think the worst part was actually dealing with the lift operators. They absolutely hated
that I was wearing a backpack. I don't know why. Every single time I appeared at the bottom,
they were giving me a hard time. At one point, they even stopped the lift. I got yelled at
multiple times for not having it exactly the way they instructed me to, so that left me with a
bitter taste. I can imagine that when there is a lot of snow and the glades are opened, this mountain
is a lot of fun for expert skiers. On this day, none of the glades were opened and there was not
a whole lot of snow. Hopefully, we can make it back and have a better experience next time.
