Welcome to moving math and science in this video I would like to talk about 10 weird
animals.
Up first the pink fairy armadillo.
This small armadillo is found in Argentina.
It is unique because of its leathery body covering.
First unlike other armadillos it is pink and second this leathery outer shell is attached
by only a thin membrane and is much more flexible than other armadillos.
In addition this armadillo has fur to help keep it warm at night.
They live on ants, worms and snails.
The aye-aye is an interesting looking animal and is actually a lemur.
It is nocturnal and has a weird method of hunting.
First it chews a hole in a tree.
Next it sticks in its long middle finger and tries to catch grubs.
It's kind of like what a woodpecker does but it's a mammal.
Next the Irrawaddy Dolphin.
Think of a mix between a killer whale and a dolphin.
This dolphin has a short blunt head and long broad flippers like a whale would have.
It feeds on crustaceans, fish and cephalopods.
The fusa is an animal that resembles a cougar and is found on the island of Madagascar.
It is adapted to hunt in trees and likes to feed on lemurs.
It has claws like a cat but they are not fully retractable.
However its head is similar to a mongoose and its tail is as long as its entire body.
Next the Yeti Crab.
Besides their appearance what makes these crabs weird is their diet.
They feed on bacteria released from hydrothermal vents found underwater.
They move their claws rapidly back and forth in order to feed on the bacteria.
In addition they are scavengers.
Up next the soft shelled turtle.
These turtles have shells but they are much more flexible and soft than a traditional
turtle.
This allows them to move more quickly on land but they are very comfortable in the water.
They can breathe underwater and can stay under for a long time.
They eat fish but they can also hunt on land and sometimes eat birds.
The Japanese spider crab.
These crabs found off the coast of Japan look a bit like aliens have landed on earth.
They have the longest legs of any arthropod and can stretch up to 18 feet in length.
Next the Paku fish.
These fish found in South America are cousins to the piranha.
What makes this fish so bizarre is it's teeth.
They look a bit like our own bottom teeth.
This allows them to hunt and kill other fish and maybe bite you if you are swimming with
them.
Next the Bush Viper.
This snake found in Africa has an amazing ability to blend into it's environment.
It's beautiful and deadly.
This snake which is green in color likes to hang down from a tree and ambush it's prey
which might be frogs, birds or even other snakes.
Next the Blue Parrot Fish.
What makes this beautiful fish so unique is it's mouth.
It's teeth are arranged so that it actually forms a beak, yes a fish with a beak like
a bird.
Life is sometimes strange.
In addition this fish will create a cocoon of mucus around itself at night when it sleeps
in order to protect itself.
Life is sometimes weird and strange.
