Russian Food will surprise you! Classic CANTEEN in Moscow 🇷🇺

Red Square is an obviously prime location in Moscow and it's surrounded by very expensive and fancy restaurants. But what about just simple normal Russian food? I'm going to show you the place where you can get it. This magical place is Gum Shopping Mall, started in preparation for the New Year holiday season. It's not done yet. It will be much more beautiful a few weeks from now. And here is the ice cream booth. People are trying Russian ice cream. A lot of tourists. Very famous place. And for the Russian canteen we have to go to the third level. This building is so old that those staircase has literally bumps because of years people walking on it. This is the place a little problem. This place is so popular that it has a big line. Not all Russian people go to fancy restaurants or McDonald's. And you see that Russian food is very popular. First station. I am getting my tray. The second station. Cutlery. No spoons. It is very good that this canteen has English translation, so you can read what we have here. You even can buy here a glass of kefir or urazenka. Wow, there are baked apples and syrniki. What are we going to try for the main dish? Tivteli with buckwheat, please. This is my final order. I was stopping myself to not to get more and more food because I know I will not finish it. This is table arrangement. Very simple. Table cover and... How do you call it? Toothpicks and pepper and salt. Guys, it's literally so hard to film because a lot of people here and they are watching at me and I'm annoying everyone with my tripod. So give me like, please. I already have a few videos about Russian food on my channel and I'm going to explain what I have today because every time I try to get something different. This may look very yucky. It's a holodeck with beef tongue. Basically, it's a piece of beef jelly with a piece of beef tongue. For my main dish, I've got meat tivteli. It's like cutlets but they are not fried. They usually go with sauce. Let's see what's inside. Gurechka is for side dish. Also, I've got one pickled cucumber and one pickled tomato. It is Russian dessert called kartoshka. Kartoshka in Russian is potato. And you can see that it is literally around like one potato. Let's get started. I will start with this holodeck. I've got a really nice chunk of meat with a jelly part. Let's try it. Wow, it's really nice. I really like it. It tastes like a very nice piece of beef meat. I'm not a fan of eating any meat parts like legs or tongues or ears. I'm trying not to think that it's actually a cow tongue. It's also very healthy because to make holodeck, you have to make a very good broth. It has a lot of cartilage, which is really good for your bones. All right, now I'm trying my main dish. I will start with tivteli. Tivteli is Russian meatballs. Yeah, I would call it just meatballs. The meat taste is less intense than taste of holodeck. And I feel a little bit of onion taste. It goes very well together with gurechka. It's like classic side dish for cutleti or for meatballs. I can slightly feel milky and cream taste of this gurechka, I think, because they made it with adding butter, not oil. You have to add butter to gurechka. I've got pickles today because I have memories from my childhood, where we grew our veggies in our dacha, when my babushka was alive and she made our homemade pickles. She used to make a lot of tomato pickles and cucumbers. So let's try it and I will compare this original taste of my babushka's pickles. It is hard, not like tomato, it's hard like it's an apple. I remember my babushka's pickles were really soft and more sour taste, not salty. Very salty. I remember the exact taste from my babushka. It was sour-sweet, she added more sugar, I think. This is completely salty and a little bit sour. So salty, guys. In my opinion, Russian pickle vegetables should taste refreshing. They shouldn't taste like salted fish. My drink today is classic Russian canteen drink, kompot, a dried fruit boiled drink with sugar. That's nice. It tastes like kompot from my middle school. And I saw some ladies drinking a glass of champagne here. Finally, I'm going to reveal the secret of Russian kartoshka dessert. I will show you, guys, what's there inside. Well, obviously, it's brown, so you can guess that it's chocolate dessert. Oh, what's inside? So good. It is so satisfying, so soft and sweet. I searched the recipe on the internet, so the base of this dessert is cookies with condensed milk and butter, and outside chocolate part is cacao. It is small but very satisfying sweet dessert. It's just perfect to finish your meal. Now I will do my personal rating. I think the winner of today's food is kartoshka. She will get 10 out of 10. It was so nice. Then my drink gets 9 out of 10. Then the beef tongue for holidays was really nice also. 7 out of 10. Then meatballs with gritshka will be like 6.5 out of 10. And on the last place, the dish that I don't like, the pickles, just 4 out of 10. Winter! I'm so so full right now, so I think it's a good idea to go for a walk. We started to have new 15 iPhones. For Russia, the price is just crazy. 200 000 rubles. Here is cinema. I didn't know that GUM has the cinema. This is cashier. It is so cozy looking in the cinema. Old style bar. Guys, this is so cute. Chandeliers. So cozy. I would like to come here and watch something. GUM has 3 lines, 3 main roads. The Stolovaya, the Russian canteen, located on line 3, on the 3rd level. And all lines connected by the small bridges. Let's walk to the second line. This is line number 2, the middle of the shopping mall. And there is central fountain. Let's go to line number 1. This is line number 1. I like the design of New Year decorations. Wow, look at this big giant red Christmas ball. To be honest, I really wanted to travel somewhere abroad or in Russia, but in the same time I want to stay here in Moscow, because it's going to be so beautiful for the New Year time. I want to see this festive mood and activities in Moscow for the first time in my life. Red square in progress. People are working to construct winter fair. New design of trees with Christmas balls. And lights on GUM buildings start to work at 4. Red square in Moscow is same as Times Square in New York. 10% of locals and other people are tourists. I'm at the Four Seasons hotel lobby. Calm, luxury atmosphere. It is luxury and it is expensive. One night at Four Seasons Red Square costs 700 US dollars. But how much would you pay for staying 50 meters from Red Square? It is literally located on the Red Square. Red Square area has a lot of things to do here, and it's fun to come back here again and again.
