Full Interview Dodgers Shohei Ohtani on Betts and Freeman, Flight Tracking, and Postseason Goals
Dec 15, 2023
If you're like me and don't have Sportsnet LA, here's an interview Kirsten Watson had with Shohei and translator Ippei after the live press conference.
Shohei speaks on crossing paths with Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman on the bases and the opportunity to experience a postseason run to the world series for the first time in his career.
Shohe also speaks about the flight tracking the day before he made his decision.
I do not own this.
It was finally visible in the uniform and I could finally feel it but
how did you feel about it What were your feelings when you put it on
I think the excitement and joy and the feeling of anticipation are quite big
I don't think this is the first time the Dodgers have targeted him but
what was different this time Of course
he has already turned it down once
Even so despite that they came with
all their strength this time and
that kind of attitude of the team
was something I really resonated with
This FA process itself was a bit secretive
and they didn't really share much
information outside but how important was that It was more about
me than anything else
The agent's job is within the scope of what they are doing but
I honestly don't understand at all how it's going to proceed
I completely entrusted them so I left it all to them I
was just living a normal life taking
the dog for walks every day
Rumors were flying in the final stages such as
speculation that he was on a
private jet or being followed
I didn't see it myself but I did hear about it so
I was asked in a way that felt like "Are you really saying that "
I was on the sofa at home with my dog when it actually
happened so it was more of a surprise on their part
He said he would be ready as a batter for the opening
game and he has already started practicing swings with his
rehabilitation going smoothly However he hasn't been able to specify the exact details of his future schedule
What will the schedule look like for the pitcher
It will be specific soon during the season
The surgery was performed about a month earlier than last time
I think we'll go with a schedule that has a bit of
a buffer to make sure it's ready by the 2015 opening
I have never played with Mike Trout and Freddie Freeman but I
have played for the Angels the
Dodgers and the Baseball Classic
Which game are you looking forward
to the most during the All-Star Game
It's the same in the game but I'll talk to each team member
Since they have been friendly to me since I was
a rookie I find them not only a great person but
also someone I can really
enjoy playing with on the team and I'm really looking forward to it
I looked into various products but I
really like mandala charts and setting goals
What is your main goal for joining the
Dodgers Of course it's to win the World Series
I haven't been to the post-season yet so
first I want to aim for the regular season
I would like to aim for winning the World Series ahead of that
Of course winning the World Series is the top priority
I haven't experienced the
playoffs yet so winning the World Series is
my top goal and I'm aiming for the postseason
I would like to aim to win
the World Series Shohei and
Ipe thank you very much Welcome
to the Los Angeles Dodgers
