It's a new day. We're leaving Monteverde.
We have a few days left in Costa Rica, unfortunately,
but it's like the last final stretch,
which I think is going to be quite powerful.
Today we're going to the Corcovado National Park,
which is here in the southwest of Costa Rica,
and it's a less touristic place than other places we've been to
because it's not very accessible, it's a bit far away.
At the moment we have five hours by car from here, from Monteverde,
so we're going to make a couple of stops along the way
so it doesn't get too hard.
After two hours by car, we've arrived at the first stop
we're going to visit, which is a short stop.
In fact, it's on the road, if you take the coast road.
This area, this road, once you've passed Monteverde,
which has been one hour on the road,
this part is much better, the road we took the other day.
You already know what the Inter-American Highway is,
which will sound more like the Pan-American Highway.
The Pan-American Highway is a super long road
of about 30,000 km that connects the north of the entire American continent
with the south, in a more or less straight line,
as far as it can go.
In all of Central America, this Pan-American Highway
is called the Inter-American Highway,
which is the one that borders the Pacific coast of Costa Rica.
After that, it goes to Panama.
The first stop we're making now is in the Tarcones River,
which is on this road that goes through the Pacific,
and it's famous because on this crossing
crocodiles gather to sunbathe, to be here in peace.
It's a very popular place because you don't even have to divert,
it's on the road itself, you stop the car,
you come, you watch them, you're there as long as you want, and that's it.
It's a very cool environment,
here you can see the difference in temperature,
we've gone from about 15 degrees in Monteverde,
now we'll be close to 30,
so you'll have to change clothes if you do this route.
We've made a stop in a place called Jaco,
here on the Pacific coast.
It's a very touristic area,
in fact, it's full of souvenir shops,
because a lot of people come here for the beach, surfing,
and, well, it's more relaxed.
Here it's not as humid as on the Caribbean coast,
it's much calmer in that respect,
but it's very hot, we're at 30 degrees,
so the ideal place to be,
obviously, is on the beach, there are areas like this,
and we're going to look for a place to have breakfast
and continue on the road.
CIRPE
After about three hours of driving,
we've practically reached Cirpe,
which is a town that's here,
almost entirely south of Costa Rica,
it's almost close to Corcovado National Park,
which is our final destination,
but, as I was saying,
getting to Corcovado National Park is complicated.
Now, in the dry season, not so much,
but it's true that it's a road without asphalt,
because it's a national park that's very protected,
so the impact has to be minimal.
So, the easy option is what we've done,
come to Cirpe,
this town that, up to here, the road is perfect,
the whole Pacific coast, the road is perfect,
and we've parked here in one of the few parking lots,
there are parking lots all over the area,
where you leave the car,
for the nights you're going to stay,
and from here you take a boat
in the dock, which is there at the end,
now we're going to go there, we come with time,
and that boat takes you to Agujitas del Drake,
which is like the main town
of the area of the national park.
Agujitas del Drake
We've just arrived to Agujitas del Drake,
the beach I was telling you about,
in fact, our boat is still here,
it's been curious, because the boat leaves at 4,
and it should take an hour to get here,
it's 6, it took 2 hours,
because we've had the worst boat in history,
normally these boats come with 2 or 3 engines,
in ours it came with one engine,
it stayed there to go around at the beginning,
because there were people who needed to pay,
after that, it ran out of gas,
we had the sea against us,
so we came even slower,
when we got to the sea, it ran out of gas,
we were stranded in the middle of the ocean,
and they had to rescue us,
they called another boat,
so they could bring another gas can,
and that they could recharge it,
a lot of things,
and in the end, we arrived 2 hours late,
well, 1 hour late,
and now we have a night excursion,
and we arrived late, as always,
we arrived late, I don't know how,
we fixed it, but we always have to come late to the places,
we called the place,
I hope they wait for us 5 or 10 minutes,
so let's take the backpacks of our boat,
and let's go there.
