Kenya's BEST Beach Restaurant / Salty Squid In Diani Beach

Welcome to Diani Beach and today we are bringing you to our favorite restaurant right here on the beach. Welcome to Salty Squid. Almost welcome. It's there. It's right there. So they have everything from like regular burgers to like paneer swahili curry, chicken parmigiana, sticky pork, but obviously with the name Salty Squid, their specialty is seafood. You're straight on the beach. Best quality is here. Okay, so we've actually been here before. Honestly, six months to a year ago and I had the best flatbread. Can I get a Coke Zero? Yeah. So yeah, I had the best flatbread ever. It was some type of like vegetarian one with like butternut squash, balsamic glaze. I was so looking forward to it, but they don't have it anymore. I'm sad, but I think I have a replacement. For me, you guys know me, I'm going tacos. They have four different kinds of crispy fish. They have Korean barbecue beef, vegan, and spicy shrimp. I'm gonna get spicy shrimp. We'll share the smoked sailfish bruschetta. Is that a good choice? Yeah. Perfect. I'll get the spicy shrimp tacos and you're gonna get the seared elephant tuna. All good choices? Oh, perfect. So personally, the ambience of this restaurant is exactly what I want from a beach restaurant. You're right on the beach, you see the ocean, and like just the colors inside, the artwork on the walls. You're not fully inside, so it rains. Hopefully it doesn't rain. There is a little covered section, but still. But yeah, I love it. So to start, it is very hot, right? So we just want something nice and light, and we have some smoked sailfish bruschetta. That's really nice. So I love when I get, not kind of worried, but like wondering how the fish is going to be. Because for me, where eating raw fish is still new to me, it has to be kind of like butter. And then of course, I took a bite and it just melts like butter in your mouth. So very, very good. Welcome to my famous toilet review. Those are single toilet. It's pretty clean, still colorful. I mean, I like it. Solid 8 out of 10. I got the yellowfin tuna. So it comes with like a salad of like mango, cucumber, avocado. That is so nice. And the tuna is so nice. Wow. Really, really good. Going to build me the perfect bite. A little bit of avocado, a little bit of mango, a little bit of soy sauce. Ready? Yeah. Yeah, that's exactly what I wanted. Something like fresh tasting. That was everything? Super good. Yeah. The quality of our fish is like 10 out of 10. Yeah. Like I can cut that with a fork. You know what I mean? Yeah. For me, I got the spicy shrimp taco. They're like a little bit coated in like some sort of batter. That's a good taco. The shrimps are delicious. Cabbage adds like a nice little crunch. And there's like a nice little kick at the end, like the spiciness. Three more, please. Just because I really love you, I'm going to let you have one bite of my tacos because they're a little bit too good to share. Wow. Right? Get your own. The spice on the shrimp has like a decent kick to it, but it's a flavor kick. It's not just like chili straight in your face. That is so nice. Very good. Thank you. Thank you so much. I was about to say we don't have that at the moment. For a girl, I asked for like the one thing that they don't have. And it's the second time this weekend that we've tried to order that exact same dessert at different locations and they don't have it. Tracy made her decision and we're getting? Oreo sundae. Oreo sundae? Oreo sundae. But with two spoons. Okay. Yes. This is the life, guys. Perfect area to chill on the beach, to have a drink, have some delicious food. But also like if you stay like multiple days, like in the same resort, like going to a cool like beach restaurant bar, like this is a very good way to like break down the routine. Great news. I don't know what happened. Maybe there's one left or they're just making one, but we are getting the sticky toffee pudding after all. Miracle. The last portion. On a scale of one to ten, how excited are you? So, so excited. It smells and looks so good. Oh crap. I can't take all the sauce. Sorry. Everything you expected and more? 100%. Wow, that is so good. Tracy's saying that I'm not ready for this goodness. But it's pretty delicious. Was I right? It's even better knowing that this was the last slice. But I think that like, here's the thing, I think every component of it is good and that's what's different. The cake is fantastic. The ice cream is like a dulce de leche sauce. It's like spot on. And the ice cream is like a French vanilla. Yeah. Super good quality. It's homemade. Solid sticky pudding. Thank you so much. It was very, very nice. Complimented the chef. Thank you. Thank you. How much you ask, let me tell you. So four Coke Zeros, our appetizer of smoked fish, spicy tacos, yellow tuna and one sticky pudding. $4,890. Which is, with the conversion right now, it's actually not that bad. Have a good day. Salty squid. Another great experience. Like Tracy said earlier, like this was not our first time. It's not going to be our last time. Every time we're in Diani, like it's such a good option. Great location, right outside. I think it's one of those places that you need to take people like if it's a first time to Diani. Yeah, 100%. I love it. The food has been fresh and great. And it's not too expensive. The waiters are always very nice and smiley. Yeah. It can, now however, we're on a Monday right now, it can actually get really busy on the weekend. So I would advise potentially making a reservation or going early for lunch. Yeah, because we arrived at what, like 12? 11.45. And they already had people even though they only start serving lunch at 12. Yeah. So anyway, all things to keep in mind. Highly suggested. And Diani in general. I mean, look at this beach. It's rainy season right now and it's still beautiful. It's gorgeous again today. So overall, another great afternoon. It's time for us to go back to Nairobi.
