SOUR SOP Juice, Refreshing, Healthy and Delicious!
Hi everyone, it's Raquel of Raquel's Caribbean Cuisine and today I am going to be making an
extremely delicious sauce of juice. Studies have shown that this super fruit is high in
antioxidants, it kills cancer cells, it helps fight bacteria, it reduces inflammation,
it stabilizes blood sugar levels, it's low in calories but high in fiber and vitamin c,
not only is this fruit remarkable but its leaves make a great cup of tea
which soothes and relaxes you. It's commonly used as a sedative.
This beautiful sour stuff is 100% organic and it grew right in my backyard and it's ready to be
picked. Absolutely beautiful. Okay so after picking I allow it to sit in the fridge just for a few
days just to ripen a little bit more causing the skin discoloration but that's quite fine.
The fruit is perfect. First thing first, make sure your hands are extremely clean
and make sure to wash the fruit. I am going to be using my hands to peel the skin off. It's soft
and juicy so it's quite easy. After peeling, use your hands to just break it apart and this right
here is the heart or the stem. It's good for your nerves and according to old-time folks, it helps
to cure a bedwetter. I am not even sure why this fruit is called sour sub. Nothing about it is sour.
It's exotic and sweet. It's so delicious. Here is the pulp. It can be eaten as is. Each pulp comes
with a seed. You can plant the seed and have your own sour sub tree. Okay now let the juice making
begin. Pour all the pulp in a container along with some water. Not too much water and as I said
earlier, make sure your hands are clean. Now squeeze the pulp to get all the juice out. Now give that a
strain. Look at how thick and beautiful that juice is and it's smelling so tropical, so exotic, so sweet.
Now I'm going to be adding some more water to the pulp. When you're done squeezing, nothing should
be left in the pulp. Now give that another strain until the pulp is practically dry. Here is the
remainder of the pulp. All the juice and flavors have been removed. This is normally thrown away
but nothing is going to be wasted today. The seeds will be thrown in the garden and the pulp will be
eaten. They are quite chewy. Look at how thick and rich that is. I'm going to give it another strain
just in case any seed or pulp fell in, just for a smooth finish. Okay now it's time to sweeten.
For this recipe, I am going to show you how to make it two ways. One with milk and one with
lime and ginger. Both ways are extremely tasty. Starting with the milk recipe first, which is my
favorite. Add some vanilla supplegent and this gives it an awesome taste and this is where you're
going to flavor and sweeten to your taste. Add some condensed milk, a bit of cinnamon powder,
some grated nutmeg. Give that a mix. Also add some vanilla essence. This is rich, creamy and so tasty.
Now for the lime and ginger version. This right here is an immune booster. Cut a piece of ginger
and put a blend with about half cup of soursop juice. After blending, put a strain.
Add some lime and some sugar to taste
and mix that in. And it's as easy as that and it's so absolutely refreshing.
The ginger, the lime, the soursop, this is natural medicine in our jug. And there you have it, the
super fruit natural medicine. Soursop juice with milk or with limes and ginger. Put to chill or
just pour over ice. Both are extremely delicious. The lime and ginger version is so absolutely
refreshing. The milk version is the best tasting milkshake you'll ever have. Thank you so much for
