The diving we have been waiting for.. _ Sailing the Caribbean

Last week's episode consisted of us ripping our asymmetric to shreds and having to pull out our
genoa again. If you haven't watched that episode be sure to check it out, I've linked it above.
So the rod was hooked up and the rod was going like freaking sending it, we had the drag tight
and it was still sending it. So I dumped the spinnaker, brought it down, we managed to get
the line back and everything, the rod is fine and the line is all back. Then we hooked everything up
again, hoisted the spinnaker and the spinnaker inflated and like we had like 10 knots apparent
and then the next second it just like just everywhere. Because I just saw like literal
pieces of sail flying in the air. Nice. But she was toast, we knew that already. No we knew we
were gonna be in for it but we just didn't think so soon. I'm bummed man, I'm seriously bummed.
And we just bought a new dinghy. The dinghy could have waited now. Like the dinghy could have waited now.
Like why does this always happen? It always happens like that. You start making good progress.
Like, like we're like you know what we can buy the new dinghy because nothing's broken on us,
everything's fine, like we have we can budget a new dinghy. Okay. I think that's what sailing is.
That is though, like everyone always says like it's super chilled, you don't spend money and
then when you when you gotta spend money you spend it in the bucket loads.
Boat, bring on another thousand. But sometimes it'll be ten thousand.
Yeah that was a sucky day. It was fun though while it was flying. It was fun but then.
But note to self, never get a spinnaker or special sail or anything that's in a really light color
because that's exactly where she tore. She tore by the pink and by the yellow. So the blue still,
even the material on the blue feels way better than the other materials. Like when she was puffed
up like the blue felt like it wasn't stretching as much as the rest. The rest felt like it was
ballooning out the whole time. So we got this sail with the boat when we bought it and we didn't
change it because we were like it's in good condition and it was considering but obviously
the Atlantic crossing we flew it for many days so the sun and the salt and humidity and everything
just so yeah she was an old lady. So yeah I guess it's time for a new one. We bought an old abandoned
catamaran, spent two years rebuilding her and embarked on a 7,000 mile journey across the
Atlantic Ocean to our dream cruising ground, the beautiful Caribbean. Subscribe below and
follow the adventure as we explore our way up the Caribbean chain of islands to the beautiful Bahamas.
As we make our way to Grand Anselme, be sure to subscribe below if you haven't already

us a comment below. Guys we uh we dropped anchor here and then uh the what was that um the Flying
Dutchman came past us. If you guys don't know what the Flying Dutchman is it's a great like Caribbean
pirate ship and uh they only come up to feast on people and one of the crew members came up on board
This is crayfish man or lobster man. Crayfish man or lobster.
Rik you found this diving. He actually. He molted. He molted, he hopped out of his shell
So he hasn't been eaten or anything. He's just. Yeah like his eyes. Even his eyes.
Weird. Crazy looking. We named him Boris. When we get tired of talking to each other. He was like
this on the bottom and I thought I'll surprise him I'm coming in from behind and as I grabbed
him and he didn't nudge on you. Something's weird about this guy. Boris. Boris. Boris Johnson.
Boris the lobby.
That's probably where I came got Boris from because I think I'm Boris Johnson.
Bye Boris. Oh he floats. After setting our anchor we hit the town to explore.
It's full eh? Very full. Very nice.
Get close and give me a foot onto the wood. Wood. Onto the wood. Yeah.
So far I'm liking this place. Looks cool. Let's see the map.
So we can take the one that goes along the coast but it looks like a bit of a walk eh?
Not too bad eh? Which one are we taking? The coast? This is the coast route. Yeah we'll take this one.
This looks nice. Yeah. Okay. Should we get our maps on our google maps now? I don't think it's actually
the coast route. I think it just goes here and then turns in and then goes up that road and over.
That's cool. Let's go. Let's do it. It's like one or two km walk. We need a little walk after our lazy week.
I don't know like this place kind of reminds me of a bit of
cave town. I think it's beautiful. It's neat. It's tidy. It's well marked.
So we're taking a 15 minute walk up to the next well the bay that we passed called
Les Arlettes. I think it's the little bay version of our bay pretty much.
So we're just gonna go check it out. There's probably a cute little church and other little
stores and after our lazy week we need to take a good walk and get our blood pumping again.
We explored Les Arlettes thoroughly so it was time to head back downhill and head back to the boat.
I was starting to forget about blowing our spinnaker today.
Like we were out and about and it was really good and like forgetting about it
and then Ricky's like it's a sad day for us and I'm like why? He's like because we blew the spinnaker.
Asymmetric. Asymmetric. It's not very nice.
The following day Ricky and Marty went to go check out some diving spots for us.
The little boat wreck was cool but only full of little fish so Marty and Ricky
opted to go check out the areas where the dive companies were going.
It's very reef fishy like so small fishes but I think like so big this ridge would be a good dive.
So yesterday we obviously checked out the town a bit and explored Grand Anse here
and today Ricky went checking out for some local spots to do a little scuba and he found a cool
place so we're loading up our scuba gear so we can go have a scuba dive. I'm gonna need your hand
I think let's load the rip and then we'll put the weights on last.
You swear I'm going diving in Cape Town?
No these are not hot suits these are 1.5 more suits. Yeah but at 20 meters you're gonna get cold.
You get cold easily. Okay let's go. Let's rock and roll. So with the new rib,
front sections of the dive gear, we sit at the back. Works out really really good.
So one thing I forgot to mention to everyone is our rib is a 3D tender 2.9 aluminium ultra light
rib so it weighs next to nothing. We chose this rib because we're very weight conscious,
well Ricky's weight conscious and so we chose it because of that factor and I can also help hoist
it up or hoist it up by myself if need be because that's pretty important that I can do a lot of
stuff alone if it has to happen like that. So yeah that's just a little update because I didn't let
anyone know in the previous episode it completely slipped my mind. You know sometimes we know things
and we assume everyone knows it too because we know and then it's like oh wait never mind and
that's not the case we need to speak. So yeah but let's get back to the video. And the spot,
so there's a wreck over here we'll also dive that but the spot we're going is around that bend there.
I'll swim there. Simone wants to swim from behind that ledge all the way to the wreck over there.
I think she has more appetite than she thinks. She thinks she's a Swedish
swimming athlete or something. Why does it have to be Swedish? They're not actually the best swimmers.
American swimming. Michael Phelps. Yeah she thinks she's Michael Phelps. I mean no she's like jelly
and coral life was absolutely amazing. This is what we've been craving since we've arrived in
the Caribbean.
Ricky managed to spot some barracuda in the distance.
And off in the distance he also managed to spot some squid. It sometimes amazes me that Ricky
can spot all these sea creatures in motion but can't seem to find the tomato sauce in the fridge.
If you guys remember a few episodes ago Ricky and I went on a fishing escapade
and unfortunately we caught nothing but one little bait fish
which we are now using to feed all the other fish while we scuba dive.
No more couple invitations
we sink into the ocean
deep in daydreams
Our air was running out so it was time to do our decompression stop and head off back to the boat.
That was a really really good dive probably the best coral dive I've ever done hands down
a lot of light lots of color but even better after a dive. I got me mamacita
making some curry. Durban curry. Got all the dive gear
rinsed off got them refilled already. Our buddy boat Mari there's thinking about
possibly doing another afternoon dive I think I might be down for that we'll see what Simone says.
And just like that another beautiful day in the Caribbean has ended
we are so blessed to have this as our backyard. Don't forget to subscribe below if you haven't
already and give this video a big thumbs up see you guys next week
