One week shy of her 50th birthday, surfing legend Kelly Slater defeated local favorite Seth Moniz, 24, to win the 2022 World Surf League Billabong Pro Pipeline Championship at Hawaii.
Internationally renowned surfer Kelly Slater has won the 2022 World Surf League's Billabong Pro
Pipeline title in Hawaii. With 11 world championships under his belt, this latest
win came just a week before his 50th birthday. He defeated local favourite 24-year-old Seth
Monis with a near-perfect score. I was just out in the water, just going, talking to myself,
giving myself a pep talk, trust yourself, just breathe, soak this all up, be right here in the
for anybody. A lot of great people in this world have helped me along my way,
learn about life and learn about myself. It feels like it all came together today
and it just seems so meant to be. It was the eighth win for the surfing legend at Pipeline
and it comes 30 years after his first victory. He has hinted that he might now retire,
but either way, this latest title comes as a great gift for his birthday on Friday.
