Leylah Fernandez v Alycia Parks Highlights | Australian Open 2024 Second Round

Seamless find the return position of Fernandez really interesting, because even though those serves are coming at north of 170 km an hour, it's still quite an aggressive positioning, isn't it? Yeah. It's better. A bit of loose swinging there for parks. I mean, to me she does, but the feet just look a little sluggish and. Maybe just. Well done. That's her court positioning here. You can just see up in the court now. This one pretty short and can be hit back behind. That's better play, isn't it? Just a little bit more assertiveness and self belief on that maybe. Excellent one to tennis. That's great play, just stretching the court there and someone that did the damage backhand crosscourt just opening this one up. Deals the deal for Alicia Parks around the world. That's better in preparation. They stayed low and. Gets very early into that preparation position there. Very similar to the Williams sisters where they got their hands back quickly. The first points of the match that in the tail of this. Appearance she takes the first set against the 32nd seed. And what a twist in the tail this was. She was down a break. Parks was a long way behind the baseline. The gap was in the front section of the court. I think this is what she's gotta do more of. Just start to really mix it up a little. Bounced a little bit higher. Luckily she was able just to let that come down a little bit more assertively. I think she could be very dangerous on the grass. That doesn't blow on top of her head. Skirt is a very light fabric. Yeah, that's a lovely return. Sing today Louise as well. They've came to watch this match. They've come to watch this match to see more of this from Layla. Young country woman. Beautiful team just haven't seen enough of that today. Great play from Fernandez. Now this is the the kind of serving that's been really eluding this young player here later Fernandez. She's a lefty and she likes to swing that ball wide. I've got the court and then this backhand down the line. We just saw that shot that she missed. So I think she should have perhaps let that one just drift long. Bit of a breeze down then. Recognize the end of this match. She should be in the locker room now. This one this was in a perfect position here. Oh well, there she has it gets there eventually. Took her a couple of attempts. She goes for the very first time. Well, what a phenomenal turnaround here for Alicia Parks, the American up against the more highly ranked player, players.
