a new day begins we are already
underway on our last day here in the
Osa Peninsula in the Corcovado area
today we are going to do a trail that is not
very popular but well it is
one of the main points to do here
especially those that allow you to
do it on your own because
you don't have to enter the Corcovado National Park
but rather it is along the
coast of the Peninsula and for this what
we have done was this morning we
woke up early and We took
a taxi at 5:30 in the morning
to come here to
Rincón beach in the San Josecito area and what
leaves from here. Well, there is a route
that goes from this part from Rincón
to Agujitas del Drake that It is the area
in which we can do it in
any of the directions. You
can even do it round trip because it is a
one-way, it is linear, so you are going to
return in the same direction and it is about
seven ten kilometers so well, how
can it be a lot? to go there and back
because what people usually do and what we
are doing is to have
taken a taxi to here and then
walk to the area where we
have the hotel, this trail is known
as the Drake trail and it is
technically not very complex it is
quite flat so from what I know
so we will go looking and seeing and we already have
here a little dog as always that
acts as a guide for us I always get
one and here another one
[Music]
the path runs parallel to the coast of
In fact, you see that there is a small path
where we are going now, you
can start on the beach but hey, you
are going to find the path just
a few meters parallel so that you don't
have to go along the beach because it can
be a lot more complicated. Because of
the sand because of the stones, there will still
be times when you have to go
inside, but hey, at least there is a lot
of it that will be
inside. It is very important that you bring
a lot of water here, food if you need
sunscreen because It is very
hot here, the sun is shining here, you know how to be
exposed to the sun, so it is recommended
that you do it first thing in the
morning so that you have more hours and the
first few hours are a little cooler
[Music]
along the way it is not It is strange that you
can find some fauna apart from
local dogs. But well, you may
see things if you look at the
trees, especially those on the coast.
Sometimes there are sloths in the tops of
them, but keep in mind that it is
difficult to see them. especially up close, they tend
to be at the top of the
trees sleeping for most of the day.
Part of the fauna comes here to eat,
but it is difficult to see them up close because
they normally only go down to
defecate in the lower part so that they do
not defecate at the top. and then other
predators can
track them, so they come
down here and this usually happens every so
often because as they feed
mainly on leaves, everything that involves
the processing
of the cellulose in the leaves is very slow.
So if they eat, they poop. maybe
once every five days is the only time
in which they more or less become
vulnerable and you could see them A
little bit more closely
[Music]
at a point along the way You are going to get there when
trying to cross
between beaches there is like a river
that depending on the year or depends on the
moment It can also be more or less
flooded so you can find out about it there is
a stall here there is like a
beach bar where it says
Find out here about the State of the river to
cross it
from what I had read here I think they
can help you to cross for about 5 dollars there are
like some canoes so I imagine that they
can pass you from one side to the other in a
simple way in
fact they are around here there are like some
barges
So they leave you these little boats and you
cross the river here the problem
we have is that it seems to me There is no
one to cross here
because it becomes interesting to also take into account
that there are crocodiles here so well,
along the way you are going to see a
lot of little animals that move on
the ground and all
the leaves begin to move. Most of them They are lizards,
crabs, Hermit crabs, so
well, and we have also seen a macaw,
a beautiful macaw because we didn't
expect it and it has started to fly with
all the bright colors of the feather chambers.
Well, at the mouth of the sea, it's getting
quite easy here. nor does it cover the
entire area that we are walking through, it
is no longer primary forest, it is
secondary forest and it is also because this
has not always been the protected area that it is
now, nor in Costa Rica in general, in
fact in Costa Rica
the percentage of forests
that And starting in the 50s and 60s is
when people's awareness changed
and they saw that they were going to be left without a
country that was going to be barren as had
happened in countries in the area, so
they took measures to protect it. And
from then on Well, to
increase the level of the forests again,
their quantity and quality to
also recover the fauna that they had and they are
achieving it little by little, it rises,
reaching up to 30%, the
percentage level of forests when 20 years
ago or 50 years ago I had been in
75% of the country of pure forest so
well all this is already being fixed right
now it is a 50 it has gone away it has been
improving a lot
that today are the cicadas
that vibrate because of the heat that it is and
they vibrate until we die a hard ending
[Music]
we arrive a little more than halfway
and we have stopped now to rest for a few
minutes because we are not in a hurry either.
In the end we have our
return boat at 2:30 in case herpe returns to
Bueno a what the rest of Costa
Rica is like and how it starts very early because we
have a lot of time so we have made
a stop here at one of the little beaches
that we are constantly passing through,
you are passing by beaches
that are empty, that is, today is Sunday,
they are already like 9 or 10 in the morning and
all the beaches we
pass by are super pretty, beautiful,
none of them have people so then
people accumulate in other
national parks like Manuel Antonio, the
Nicoya Peninsula and etc. and they do
n't know or not They know it or they don't want to. But
if you come here to places like this, you are going to
have a lot of beaches to
yourself at practically any time
of the day because they are not accessible, so
apart from the fact that you are not coming here with your
vehicle, you have to come along
this path. of Drake crossing the
jungle so many people
stay in the one with agujitas or others
where they can arrive with a vehicle to
take them. So I recommend that
you do this path, I will bring your
things for the beach and you choose one that
does not No one
has taken a break at
Cocalito beach, it's already very close to Agujitas, and
the next beach is where we
are staying, so since this one is
much quieter and doesn't have boats or
anything, it's an ideal place to swim

we are going to finish the
Drake trail that we have left It's just a couple of
kilometers so I think that in less than
an hour we will finish it
is not very technically it is not complicated that is,
in the end it is a I'll take a look at the issue.
The problem may be more of the
climate issue, which is very hot and very humid,
but apart from that, if you go
calmly with water and sunscreen,
you won't have any problems, you'll still see
animals. You'll enjoy it, you'll have a
lot of beaches where bathing in
general is super recommended and something very
important is also that if you go to
any of the beaches in both the
Caribbean and the Pacific you will see that there are
many coconut trees as is the case of
the beach where we were now
cocolito
be careful where you stand because It's
like you want to put it under a
coconut tree. There are a lot of people who
put themselves
under a coconut tree. Because it
gives you the shade, you put the
towel there and it's super comfortable and it's
idyllic, but you have to be careful
because you won't tell how a coconut falls on top of it. You're
not going to tell it, it's a
fairly common death, the fact of people
falling a little on top of it because a coconut
can hold up to 3 liters of water
plus the weight of the coconut itself.
So
when
you go to stand somewhere, look
up and make sure you don't have anything
that can help you. fall on
[Music]
and after about 10 kilometers and
about 5 hours we have already returned
to agujitas and specifically to
our hotel. The trail is very good. I
have already told you that it is worth it and so
now what we are going to do is go to eat
because then now at 2:30 in a couple
of hours we have to take a boat that will
take us back to siherpe to
continue and finish
our trip north along the
Pacific to and from San José So
no, well to eat that we have not eaten
all day
