The quarterfinals come to a close with the tournament hosts Qatar taking on Uzbekistan in the Albayt Stadium. Qatar have won every game en route to the quarterfinals and have thrived off playing in front of a home crowd at this year's Asian Cup, but face an Uzbekistan team with plenty of knockout stage experience, desperate to move on to the Final Four for the first time since 2011. Marquez Lopez makes three changes to the team that beat Palestine just under a week ago, as Tarek Salman and Almady Ali come into the starting eleven and into the back line. Srećko Katanec makes just two changes to his side after their 2-1 win against Thailand in the last 16, with Shukarov and Abdulaev replacing Holmatov and the suspended Khusenov. Qatar have to work something on this right wing, it's on to Al-Haydos, Al-Haydos! And somehow it's found its way into the back of the net. Let's have another look at this. Al-Haydos looking to cross it, takes a deflection off the defender, and then Yusupov puts it into the back of his own net. Uzbekistan have looked better since conceding the goal. And another good save by Yusupov, making up for that mistake earlier on. Comes off the back of the head and he has to react quickly. It's 1-0 to Qatar here at the break. Masharipov lining this one up. Swings it in towards the near post and Barsham called into action. That was on its way in. Really well taken free kick by Masharipov. Uzbekistan looking at better and better as this second half unfolds. Shot from distance and what a strike that was from Shukurov. Absolutely ferocious effort, inches wide. Uzbekistan coming forward again here. It's a lovely shot and it finds the bottom corner. Khomrobikov, with the left-footed effort, latches on to the loose ball and picks his spot beautifully. Barsham gets a touch but it's not enough to keep it out. Deep into stoppage time, Qatar with a corner. No chances since that equaliser for either side here. Akram Afif dancing into the box, Kozlan looking for the top right corner. And what a goal that could have been. Surely would have been the winner. Still not over. Uzbekistan floating ball over the top. Decent effort by Ali Kulov. Hits it well but always going wide. So extra time awaits here in this quarterfinal. It's a hopeful ball into the middle. Hatim off the crossbar. Well it was an awkward one for Yusupov. Qatar, definitely the team looking more likely to get a winner here in extra time. Almuiz Ali into the outside side netting and I think Yusupov got a touch on that as well. So it will be penalties to decide who goes through. Masharipov has to make this. Both teams have missed two already. Masharipov misses a third for Uzbekistan. Barsham standing his ground and it's straight down the middle. Chance now for Pedro Miguel to send Qatar through to the semi-finals. Pedro Miguel hammers it into the roof of the net and Qatar go through after an absolute rollercoaster of a ride here in the Albayt Stadium. The hosts keep their dream of lifting the Asian Cup on home soil alive after coming out on top of a wild penalty shootout. While Uzbekistan see their journey come to an end in the most painful of ways possible. So after another nail-biting quarter-final, Qatar move on to the semi-finals and will now face Iran on the 7th of February.
