good morning oh turn off the Wi-Fi good morning everybody this is round two of our live yesterday was a total flop I was our fault sorry it was really weird YouTube didn't show it to anyone and I remember we started and there was like hardly anybody waiting which is weird cuz usually there's a decent amount of people and then like the whole whole time we were talking the number just stayed at like 12 people I'm like that's not normal there's usually a lot of you here and uh it's fine everything's fine we're here this morning you're here this morning yeah thanks for showing up yes I'm going to grab my drink also if it sounds like we're really tired and looks like we're really tired it's because we are extremely tired it's been a week yeah I wish we could tell you more but it's been a week oh man I'm glad that they can't I don't know I guess it's okay never mind I'm so tired I might not make sense for about 10 more minutes yeah give us a minut to wake up um so guys we're going to talk about the goat Barn today but but before we talk about the goat Barn there's a few things we need to to mention oh tomorrow guys tomorrow is a big day for for our little Community um we're we are going to be at the opt out o Expo sorry I'm still waking up the opt out Expo in Alfreda yeah it's a big thing that our friend clay great house is putting on you guys remember clay he sponsored the super aw workshop and we went and visited his huge hyper earthbag house and we were planning our earthbag house um yeah good dude and he is is putting together this really cool event that's sort of bringing everyone together who has who's interested in the owner Builder opt out here in coachi County also maybe you're just interested in natural building there's a lot of people there that are going to be we're all going to be separated by building types so there's going to be a lot of hyperd Dooby people there there's going to be a lot of super dopy people there Cobb straw Bell you can like go to different places and ask all your questions and also like you know solar and septic and rainwater and sort of all those different you know things that you need to learn about if you're going to live off grid yeah uh that's tomorrow and Alfreda I think it's from 9 to 4 yeah there's a there's a link in the description of this video uh that'll take you to a Facebook event page that should give you all the details if you're going to come we'll be there um a bunch of people that we see see all the time and and work with and hang out with we'll be there I think it'll be a really good time so it will be fun so we want to make sure we mention that because like we said that's tomorrow we'll also have some goodies from vom they sent us to hand out and it's snowing oh my gosh sorry um and we're going to be giving away or we're going to be doing a drawing for a 16 in Roll of hyper Adobe BS yeah vul sent us some water bottles and some actual hyper doe bag so we thought it would be fun to do a giveaway yeah what was the other thing that we were supposed to mention okay so the other thing we wanted to mention is the school of super doobe oh yes Hayden from Australia our buddy Hayden he's putting together his course which he shot at our place yeah because that's we built the Dome and we recorded it all so he could put together this like really detailed stepbystep um free course for to teach people how to build a super Adobe Dome um and so so he kind of launched soft launched it a while ago but just within the last week or two he put out like the first video of the course and it's all free if you just go to school of super adobe.com yeah also I did put a link to that actual video in the description of this video um also if the logo looks familiar it's Johnson's tattoo I may have helped him see I retired from design work but every once in a while someone coaxes me back out of uh design work and so I I had I had a few different sketches from my tattoo and so he used an alternate one and we got some different text on there and uh yeah it looks good I like it my tattoo will live on an infamy forever School of super Adobe okay maybe someone else will get a school of super Adobe tattoo maybe you never know you might be twinsies or somebody we should do sticker one stickers of the tattoo we should totally do that speaking of okay we have some announcements all right guys first of all we just have to say thank you so much yeah the goat Barn container got funded and then some we were out working on the container and we came back and it like had blown up and we had emails and email after email after email of of people supporting it and then people just emailing us and being like hey this is great we love it and um it kind of blew us away our plan was to keep that open for two weeks cuz we thought it would take about that long to fund it and like we said you guys overfunded it in like two days and and we were like okay we got to stop it and we got to figure out what we're going to do because obviously more people than we thought wanted to help yeah we got emails like what's going on I'm trying to support your goat barn and I can't and we were like we had to turn it off you guys already made the goal well so here here's what here's what we had to figure out because I think when we came up with the plan for the goat Barn container we we had bigger dreams for it adeli had bigger dreams for it right and but we were trying to be a little conservative we didn't want to limited time we have limited time we don't want to ask for too much we don't like to ask for things no uh and you all like showed up in such a big way it really really made us kind of re-evaluate like okay well maybe we just need to ask for bigger things or like I think it's more like people are genuinely interested and want to be a part of something that we're doing which is just mindblowing to me like I feel like we're stuck here in this little tiny piece of land and doing our own little thing but I forget that there's people that actually watch and kind of kind of care so it's just people are right I know I just forget that like it yeah when you live in the middle of nowhere sometimes you yeah you forget that there's so many people invested in what you're doing yeah um so like we said we we paused the donations because we didn't want to like take a ton of money that we didn't have anything to do with cuz we did that for the trees the trees you may remember when we did the burm and the S we did a tree donation thing and we totally messed up and we left it open too long and we had to many people sponsor a tree and then we had to plant too many trees on our burm as well and give some away and we had to give some away and it complicated our drip irrigation that we're still kind of dealing with because it's so many trees um fine it's okay but we like we wanted to like take a minute and like figure out what we do where we go from here right yeah so adeli had bigger dreams and because we reached our goal now we're able to insulate the whole whole container so we're kind of moving to like a phase two of the container yeah so we're things that we wanted to do that we didn't know if we'd be able to right so so we have opened the donations back up at tiny shin.com gobar and what we're going to talk about today is phase two and phase two not only includes more things that we're going to be able to do to The Container but also we get to give away more things you get more stuff so if you've already donated and you were like cool I'm going to get this and this and this well now you're going to get this and this and this like there's more stuff that's going to be able to be sent because everyone has showed up in such a big way which we're excited about also I will say there's been several people that said I wish you had a um option to opt out of the gifts that we want to give but it kind of complicated things so if you get a gift in the mail from your donation and you don't want it just give it to somebody who would appreciate it yeah it's it's harder for us to keep track if who doesn't want stuff then yeah two does yeah so anyway we appreciate that yeah just maybe give it to somebody who would appreciate it right I mean part of the joy of this is that that her art is out there her art is out there like she gets to pack a personal thank you know and like send it to every single person that helped and so I mean I think that's an important part of that process for her yeah which by the way she just left for work ADI wanted to be here on the live but she had to go to work today so she couldn't be on here um but she's been out there every day working with us on the container which by the way we are deep into this container project um a lot of things have happened this week yeah our we've had a special guest here the entire week he leaves today and he's kept us moving and we feel like we've been hit by a truck we did not want to wake up this morning I was like do we have to do I have do we have to do the live we actually have a few more things to do this morning before before I take them to the airport so um yeah we have learned so much this week and yeah we're just super thankful all right phase two we got sidetracked um so phase two the big thing for phase two is insulation right so we were going to insulate just the milking barn or sorry the barn the milking room inside the barn um excuse me hold on I'm going to burp oh jeez EXC oh my gosh guys this is okay I'm back wow so uh the more we were in the container even in the winter sun it was really warm and you know the goats are outside most of the time um but I think we realized that since we already had some extra funds coming in the first thing to tackle was definitely insulating the whole thing like we might as well just go ahead and make it nice and comfortable inside there that way multiple animals can be in there not just goats right eventually when we get back to meat birds we could have our meat birds in there with a heat lamp the chicks yeah chickens CH baby the baby chicks go when they're little they need the heat lamp yes and like say some reason we have this freak cold winter and we need a heat lamp if we have baby goats like we'd have the ability to do that yeah um anyway so we're we're going to insulate the whole container now right and we're going to we're doing the floor so we're insulating the floor and then I think we're actually going to have um Kyle you guys might remember Kyle geodesic dome Kyle who helped us do our plumbing his actual like business is actually spray foam um so we're going to frame out the entire inside of the container and have him come spray foam M and that I mean that junk has a really high High r value so that's going to put us a long way towards being able to regulate the temperature inside that container it also means since we're going to be framing it out for this spray foam insulation we're going to go ahead and run electrical for it right so that there's a few things they're all tied together and this is why we didn't go like full Deep full dream on the first go around because to have a power system you need solar panels to have solar panels you need a roof a roof and so it's all kind of tied together right so we're not going to put a roof on the whole thing but we are gonna put sort of an awning that's connected to the building and comes out quite a good way is because we want to protect a lot of the doors and openings we're going to be putting in the container on the south side but also to give it shade right it'll shade the windows for sure all of our windows are going to be up High um and it'll it'll provide shade in the afternoon for the animals too as the sun comes back over also it'll provide a catchment surface for rain rainwater so that we can have a tank there and make watering the goats a lot easier instead of carrying buckets yeah so we're going to get a big water tank and we're going to have to build a whole power system so I'm deep into researching you excited about that I'm pretty excited about a little nerdy power system uh it's it it's going to be kind of kind of a weird siiz system it's not going to be obviously as big as the one we have in the solar shed but it's not going to be like a tiny 12vt system because we want to run that water pump we want to possibly do heat lamps we want to have a very small mini split in the milk room to regulate the temperature of that room eventually both when it's hot and cold yeah and eventually we'll have a fridge in there to keep the milk storage so it'll be a small AC system um yeah getting real Nerdy with that uh it's going to be an interesting kind of small to medium siiz version of our big system this is also like a small part of a bigger much bigger dream on down the road maybe after the house is done more containers there might be more containers at least one more container on the other side to where we can put a gabled roof and hopefully put solar panels on that for our house yeah so it's kind of all we always have to think like two or three years ahead like how will this work with what we want to do eventually so that's why we're not putting a roof over the entire container because eventually it will have a roof over it but it will be connected to another container at least one more container maybe two more I don't know we'll see what happens oh my gosh we cannot build a mansion sure we can I mean I don't I don't know if I want to that's huge yeah oh we'll see we'll see we got to build a house so yeah so for now it's one container and we're just doing all the little things to the one container um okay so we talked about the roof and the water catchment and the power and the insulation I feel like that was like the main stuff right mhm that was like phase two I think so I'm going to double check my notes hold on hold on no what yeah that's pretty much it like that's I mean I mean it sounds like not very many things but those are all things that cost quite a bit it's yeah and it's a it's a lot of time putting that roof up is going to take a lot of time yep um what do we call it CU it's not a roof I mean we're coming from our from our Airstream Roots right it's like you just you pull an awning out except it's permanent and it stays there a lean to I don't know I don't know there's also going to have to be a lot of groundw work around the container oh yeah um to get like steps and stuff that we're going to have to build so you actually get up in there and not kill yourself yeah there's not really a great way to get in there right now yeah um lots lots in the fencing we haven't even got to the fencing oh my gosh I forgot about the fencing which obviously has to happen or else there's no point in having the container over there and that has to happen by the end of the month because we really need to get them over there and used to the area before they have babies it's a 10th we don't have a lot of time if anybody's local knows how to do metal F like metal we have had a few people reach out and ask to help so might take you up just don't anything okay no just done anything this whole type of fencing is just something that we've never done before so anytime we're in a project that it's something we like completely new I just my brain kind of shuts off and it's like I can't do it that's kind of like what happened like all all I hear in my voice or in my head is no you you don't know how to do that so it's not going to work that's never stopped us before I know but it's it's I have to like it takes a long time to get past that I know we'll get there um we've learned a lot this week we learned all about welding and metal work and well not all about but well a good a good good amount yeah for sure we're still so much we don't know but yeah I feel like we could you know weld something now and yeah cuz we're going to have to it might not look the prettiest but it might be functional yeah um it would be functional so here in real time we're make like we said we're making really good progress and um the container is here we have modified it a lot already can't wait to show you guys yeah and we will be continuing to modify it for the next several weeks as much as possible just want to get back to the house so like I'm like go go go on this because I just really want to get back to stuffing dirt bags well that and the baby gats are coming at the end of the month like then this the whole point is like they need a place to be so so unfortunately there will not be a lot of housework there will be zero housework this month um May maybe maybe we'll sneak over there for a day or two depending on what's going on yeah we'll see oh right sorry still tired let's talk about what they get their extra stuff cuz we're kind of real excited about this okay so you may remember there were four tiers for donating to the goat Barn tier one tier one was we'll call it the the digital version right where we're just going to email you stuff right so you would get a video and oh well and and your name on the container so we're going to have like a a plaque or something that we're going to build yeah a big name plate and we'll just put everybody's names on it and so what we're going to do for those people because like we said we've moved to face to now because you guys have have sponsored this so much we're gonna do more videos for that tier and digital coloring page so ad has all this goat art right and she has these this really great drawings she put sunglasses on her goats and she like took a picture and she's like redrawn it and it's like the funniest thing yeah and somehow that didn't end up being part of any of the initial stuff so it's definitely gonna be she was like can we please make this part of it do you have that stamp with you mm somewhere well I can show what it looks like do you want me to show what it looks like so uh so we're gonna email you um a digital version of this with just the black lines so that you can go in and paint it or color it or do whatever you want and hopefully share it with us so that we can see definitely want to see it when you color yeah so that's going to be tier one uh tier two we're going to add the video but we're actually going to mail one of those like a physical one and we're going to stamp it with the the black outline now in a previous life we did a lot of block printing yes we had a t-shirt business uhhuh it was super fun and everybody misses doing that so this is kind of us dipping our toe back in that world yeah that was fun um yeah so you get these lolan blocks and you trace it on there and then you like cut out I can reverse you cut out the thing and then you just roll paint on and you like print it right it's kind of like an old how they used to print stuff back in the day yeah so what you just saw how you carve it that's how you make it yeah uh so the cool thing is you can take whatever design you have retrace it and cut it out and you've essentially created a way for you to like print your own thing and so this will let us print a bunch of these little coloring cards that we get to send to you um without having to you know actually draw it over and over and over again because we have a go Barn to build yeah so we want to make sure this is as efficient as possible yeah we don't want ad like spending three weeks hand drawing cards so that's going to come with tier two also Sticker Mule the place that we always print stickers just announced temporary tattoos um and you know we're jumping on that go tattoos are happening yeah 100% I cannot wait um tier number three we going do all those things and we're going to make an embroidered patch mhm which you can iron on you know to your your punk rock jacket or your uh your jean jacket or your backpack or you know whatever you want to put it on um I'm pretty excited about the the kids are really EXC excited about the tattoos and the patches I'll just tell you they they want to use them and we don't we don't know exactly what the designs are for those yet we're hoping to wrap that up in the next couple of days we just have been really busy this week with special guest um but we're going to nail that stuff down and get this updated on the donation page as soon as we possibly can yes oh and then finally tier four tier four gets all those other things and we're GNA do a foil sticker with the shiny sparkly stuff with a different custom design and notebooks you have notebook oh shoot did you take them all away I think I did no they're right there oh so we got these little notebooks and we're going to cut out a block stamp and we're going to stamp these little notebooks they're very tiny they're project notebooks so it's like for one project and you need to remember all the things they're tiny but they're not shiny and they have lined so you can write everything in there yeah so we're going to send that in the package for tier four yeah so that's the plan right now we may add more stuff I don't know depending on you guys might unlock tier three NO phase three no we have to get back to the house tier phase two it that's it we cannot I'm just saying we might send more stuff oh that's fine we send more stuff we might send more stuff who knows I just don't want to spend another month on it no we don't have time yeah we definitely have to get it done quickly and we have to get back to the other projects yes um did we cover it all I think we did I feel like we covered it all we have okay here's the deal we have seven minutes left yeah we have a yeah we have to be out at 8 project like I said I don't know how many times I I've said it like it has just blown me away like I am just in awe of how you all just came together and and made it happen we had been going around ideas of doing something similar you know we were like should we like do this for a tractor or and every single time we've been like nope nope nope we cannot do it and um I don't know it's just different because this is adeli's thing and we want to help her but we just couldn't at the time so yeah we have time we just didn't have the resources to do this project right so you know just thank you yeah and and now because of you it's going to be everything she wanted it'll be every yeah I mean there there's like essentially no compromises at this point yeah or no like oh we're going to do that later like it looks like we're going to be able to do basically everything as long as time allows as long you know there's only so much physically we can do by ourselves you know so yeah we'll we'll try to get it done as quickly as possible yeah we're doing everything we can um we're so tired what day is it Saturday okay all right I'm gonna try to answer a few of your questions before we jump off here um let's see if I can hold on hold on I will have to say too even the people who watch the video and said they just couldn't help it's okay oh yeah totally totally toally fine and we just really appreciate your positive comments that you sent and emails that you sent it means a lot to us yeah I I think we've always we've been really nervous to do anything like this just because the backlash we see the negative yeah we delete the comments we we deal with a lot of that backlash just for like random like stupid things and so this sort of thing where you're actually asking people to help support something instead of just you know watching a video or whatever there's a lot of negativity around that um and so I I just I'm still so amazed that that almost everybody was super positive about it like we had so many kind notes and emails and messages and comments and um most of the mean people stayed away so I'm really happy about that okay here's a good good question let's jump into questions real quick okay someone said will the goats eat the spray foam no it's going to be covered up by plywood yeah we'll we'll frame it spray it and then there will be yeah a wall essentially on everything y yep uh sorry there's not a lot of questions yet hold on will we add some art on it we talked about this I don't know that it would fit with our aesthetic out here not on the outside but it I mean how how hilarious we have a friend who does um he used to do what is that called I never mural work no Airbrush miral Airbrush um and we thought how fun would that be if he like painted a goat head like looking around the container yeah some of B's art that she's already done like if it's like this huge container there's like on it doesn't really fit with our aesthetic at all but maybe on the inside I don't know yeah she has big PL plans for the inside she's like I'm going to have this giant whiteboard so she can keep track of all the feed and all the everything yeah she's very excited about getting organized yeah she's very much like you yeah she gets excited about organization not a lot of questions goat milk hope he's going to be lots of goat milk L of goat milk we actually we tried to breed four of our goats three took so we have three expecting so I'm kind of glad about that because four goats and milk would have been a whole lot I mean three is a lot but four would have pushed us over the edge I think so we have a lot of cheese in the um future a lot of ice cream in the future um one thing I know some people have been asking about is if we can sell it right like if if this whole idea long term is to actually build like some sort of goat milk cheese product business um I don't know like actually selling food as you are probably aware is complicated there's you know licenses and inspections and uh it's not as simple as making a product and selling it so so we you know like we'll sell stuff to friends and stuff but like we're definitely not like a food business at least not now I'm not saying that we won't be um we could be in the future but I think for now the focus is we're doing this for our family right so if we can't drink all the milk we're going to make it into cheese and store it we're making it ice cream in store um and also we can sell those baby goat like because like we can't keep 20 goats here in the property well if Bailey has a female then we're probably going to keep her I mean adeli would keep all the goats if she could um but as you know there is also you know it takes a lot of money to feed those goats and to house them as you're well aware and every season it's like doubling your herd too so it's like right it's not like you add one more goat you add six or more goats right um someone said what about soaps yeah soaps are a good thing or we could partner with other people to make soap and Supply that milk um so there are some options for sure um but I think fa we've already moved phase to phase seven is going to be uh commercial Enterprise oh my gosh no not we have to have a house before anything like that yeah but I I think you're right uh it is important to think about um Fe with with any animal you know animals that are producing on your property like if you're feeding them and getting something in return you know is it worth that to you and to be honest a lot of times it's not necessarily financially no making sense everybody's like I need chicken so I can have my eggs full time but if you feed them good stuff like it's more expensive to have your own chickens yeah than it is to get eggs at the grocery even when they're $10 a dozen it's still more expensive yeah uh same with goats growing your own food is rarely cheap unfortunately that's just the reality of homesteading but I think part of it too is like we're creating the food that we know we want to eat right and so we know that it's produced at a higher quality and that's something that we're willing to invest in and who knows at some point we might scale it up right and we might you know be growing other animals for people or other vegetable I don't know like but like we talked about the other day on our rainy day kitchen video like that's just not something we're doing yet because we're still building a house yep and a dome we need to be and a go and a and a chicken garden and a something else um yeah like we're going to get to that point and we'll figure out all the economics of that eventually but for now we're just trying to have a house well I think also like we're just learning as much as we can about animals I mean we're we're approaching the taking care of the animals and doing stuff with the animals the same way we approached building this solar shed and building all these other little buildings because we never had any I mean you had you were in 4 I you show pigs I did not have to take care of them I showed them so this is a whole new thing yeah and so we're we're spending these first couple of years or really Adel spending these first couple she's learned so much about goats and chickens and pigs and like all these different animals and how to take care of them and how to feed them and um she's on it like um even the other day like we noticed that one of our goats keeps getting food stuck in her in her mouth yep and ad's like I'm pretty sure she has a long tooth back there that it's getting stuck in and I called the vet and and they were like oh she's too young to have that kind of problem took her to the vet she has that problem she does resarch she knows I know where she gets it from she knows what she's talking about so yeah anyway I'm excited to see where she goes yeah um let's see if we have any other questions before we jump off here what time is it oh no it's time it's past time hold on let's see if we have um that's a good question if you say you barter your milk do you have to have all the commercial requirements it depends on the scale like if like we said if it's just like people we know are like hey we have some extra go milk do you want to buy it and they're like I don't have money how about I give you this instead sure it's fine but if we're like going out there publicly and being like I can't like set up at a farmers market and sell the milk right we can't put stuff on our website and like ship containers of milk to people like we totally can't do that without the license and you know all the commercial stuff that goes along luckily we have enough friends that like the milk and like chees they really like the cheese they really like the cheese so yeah I'm excited to get back into that this year yeah I feel like it's been so long since we've had goat milk like way too long I know it's been a long time because they when did they dry up we dried them up in October six months yeah yeah it's been a long time so but we're about to have more goat milk that we know what to do with it's okay lots of ice cream yeah yeah and cheese okay anything else we do have to get back out there before it starts raining it's already raining and snowing guys we got some weather coming in um but yeah so if you're in
