An Epic Scotland Winter Adventure with Blacks

Hello from bonnie Scotland. I'm in this gorgeous lodge which you can see behind me. It's huge and I'm here for a fun weekend of adventures encouraged by Blacks. So Blacks have challenged us to get out during winter to keep adventuring all year round regardless of the elements and they kindly are providing us with all the kit that we're going to need to do that so you can get everything that you need from Blacks or Blacks online if you want to shop online and we're going to be trying some of that kit out today so I'm just kind of waiting for everyone to turn up. I'm eager, I want to get going and we're going to get kitted up, we're going to head to the mountains and we're going to do some hiking so I'm very excited. It should be a good day. You got the kit? I know. I love this coat. Okay so this is the new coat. I am a fan, I like it. This is the waterproof. Look at the colours, these are all my favourite colours. Yes, oh base layers. Is that it? So we've just set off in all my new kit, literally like head to toe or head to ankle and yeah we've just set out, we're gonna have a long day of hiking, the weather's looking good and yeah I should probably go catch up with everyone because I'm gonna get left behind. So just changed into my rain jacket which matches my headband very well I think, um so we're actually heading up the C.M.D hill, C.D.M? C.D.M hill which overlooks the north face of Ben Nevis so that's the plan for today but we're going to be stopping off and doing some shooting um of all of our new kit because I'm with some very talented photographers today. This is one of them, who left his jacket in the car so you just had to run back and get it? Don't make me seem unorganised on my shoot. Introductions, this is Chris, this is Kat, this is Dave. We off? Yeah, let's go. We're gonna go up there first, yeah and then back down and then into there. Next up. Yes, first time. Hey, got it on camera. Good smile now. Yeah, we're getting into the snow, it's insane, look at that, this is crazy, it's amazing. What's up, what's up, what's up? Hijacking, hijacking Grace's vlog. I thought, I thought I'd sink. I don't know how you thought it was going to go, did it? No, it did not. So we're kind of doing like a bit of hiking, stop, when we're needing to layer up we are then kind of shooting different bits of kit and it's nice to have so much kit because we're getting just all kinds of different weather today so got base layer, mid layer, this incredible toasty warm down jacket, gloves but yeah I'll talk through all of the kit later. So yeah we're finally down the mountain and we're heading in that direction towards the CIC hut so we're going to have some lunch there and have a bit of a rest, we're a little bit moody. Deep there, there's the hut. So we've made it to the hut, yay! So we're not actually going in because people pay to use this hut and we do not so we're just going to sit and have some lunch but it's pretty cool and it's been here for 80 to 90 years I'm told so there it is, that's the hut. Everyone give me a wave. We've probably got an hour left of daylight so we're heading down from the hut and about an hour's walk back, it's been a long day, we've just hit nine hours so it's going to end on a 10-hour day but a good one, a very good one. I wanted to talk a little bit about the kit that I've been wearing today, obviously it's all been provided by Blacks very kindly. I've got this grab down jacket which has been so toasty warm as well as the gloves which are kind of grippy on the inside, these have been super warm as well. I've had my waterproof trousers, when I wore them yesterday we got absolutely drenched and I stay dry. First time I've ever had waterproof trousers, I normally just wear leggings and get wet so that was nice and then I've got my fleece mid-layer and my base layer. Oh also the backpack, so this is the Low Alpine, it's a 50 to 60 litre bag, obviously it's a bit bigger than what you would typically use for a day hike but it's been nice to test it out. It's really adjustable which is good because I've had to adjust it to my size and height and it's been really comfortable, it bears the weight well. Absolutely loved all of the kit today, really recommend it. I will list all of it in the video description if you're interested in any of the kit.
