we're barely even one day into spring
training and we already have bad injury
news now this stuff does tend to happen
players arrive to camp start throwing
and then feel something with their arm
that's never a good sign obviously at
any point of any year but if a player is
already dealing with something before
even putting on the freaking uniform
that's likely worse last year Jacob deam
arrived to Rangers Camp after signing
his big contract and almost immediately
had to be held back because of some
tightness on his left side he ended up
beginning the Year healthy enough to
pitch for a couple months until he t UCL
and how to get Tommy John surgery so
spring training injuries that aren't
freak accidents like the ones ree
Hoskins and Gavin Lux had are of course
scary because they're more unavoidable
it just is what it is and if you're
already having issues in February before
every player has even arrived to spring
training that's really concerning
speaking of spring training though that
of course means baseball is kind of back
meaning things will be getting more
exciting so if you haven't already make
sure to subscribe and hit the Bell to
stay notified of everything that goes on
over an Astros camp where pitchers and
catchers just officially reported Justin
Verlander said he felt some discomfort
in his shoulder when he started playing
catch and had to shut down his throwing
program for a while now with Verlander
at least you can almost not get that
upset considering he's literally about
to turn 41 years old it's a miracle to
see anyone pitching as long as he has
let alone for as well as he has done it
he basically said that him being older
is factoring into his body just not
building up as quickly and flawlessly as
it did when he was younger duh so again
this one is almost expected of anything
but then I got like JP France another
Astro but someone who's 28 is also
dealing with shoulder soreness he has
right shoulder inflammation and like
Verlander is taking things slow for now
now if you go over to Sarasota for Oriol
spring training chaos just straight
chaos like there's things falling from
the sky fire everywhere okay yes
obviously an exaggeration but we're
barely a day in and the Orioles already
have some crap to worry about Orioles
news has been good lately really only
stuff to celebrate the ownership change
trading for Corbin Burns I mean things
are really looking up for Baltimore
unfortunately the injury bug has already
started making its rounds and the
celebration is coming to an end the
Orioles have already had one of their
best players not just feeling hurt but
he's now in the injured list and won't
be ready when the season starts why he's
a pitcher that's all I have to tell you
you know the rest Kyle bradish was
actually the most effective starting
pitcher for the Orioles last year he was
awesome made 30 starts pitched to the
lowest erra was good at keeping Runners
off the bases I mean he easily was the
Ace of that team finishing fourth in the
sa young voting fourth it's of course
Brad his elbow a sprain in his UCL he
got a PRP injection which I guess is
just protocol for something like this
the first attempt at keeping everything
okay but again it's obviously serious
enough to the point where the team
already knows he won't be ready by
opening day opening day isn't even for
another month and a half sit down
there's more John means a lot of you
might have forgotten about him and if
you did it makes sense he finished
second in Rookie of the Year voting in
2019 on an Oriol team that was laughably
bad wasn't very good in the short 2020
season pitch well in 2021 even throwing
a no hitter at one point but did have
his Innings limited due to a strange
shoulder he made the opening day start
in 2022 and only one more after that
when he was removed during the game
being diagnosed with an elbow strain
soon after getting Tommy John of course
so he hasn't done really much of
anything since he came back last year a
little bit in September but was then
shut down before the playoffs because
his elbow started barking again so as of
right now means is a month behind all
the other Orioles pitchers as far as
being on schedule with the team having
him delay the start of his offseason
program because of the situation hurting
him again so he's also going to be
starting the season on the injured list
oh you thought we were done no no no
gunar Henderson the 2023 Rookie of the
Year orial star third baseman is also
behind schedule because of an oblique
injury that apparently needs about two
to three more weeks of rest with that
said at least he's still expected to be
ready for opening day Henderson's
situation is much less discouraging than
bradishes are means but it's still not
ideal hopefully it's not some lingering
issue but now even the Orioles top
catching Prospect is is also dealing
with an injury he's joining bradish and
means on the broken down elbow Club as
he has a stress fracture in his throwing
elbow and is hopeful to start throwing
Again by late April so he'll just be
hitting for now obviously the Corbin
Burns trade looks infinitely more
important now the orial starting
rotation was already I wouldn't
necessarily say weaker but it wasn't a
proven solidified one at all so with
this mess now arriving at the scene of
spring training Burns being there is
huge but Burns is also still just one
man and after that there's a bunch of
options to fill out the rotation Grayson
Rodriguez and Dean Kramer being two of
them but overall it's a bunch of
unproven less promising ones not that
they suck there's just not as much
promise as there would be with guys like
bradish and means there's plenty of
starting pitchers available on the
market on the trade market like Dylan C
Shane Bieber some of the Marlins guys
and the O's are still looked at as the
number one farm system in baseball so
it's not like they can't get it done the
White Sox general manager Chris getts
was literally just asked if the Orioles
have called them regarding CE due to the
bradish news and he said no will that
change we just have to wait and see but
they could also save those prospects and
sign one of the remaining free agents
like Jordan Montgomery or Blake Snell
I'd say they should get Montgomery on a
very short-term deal that could work but
anything long-term probably wouldn't be
smart for him or Snell either way the
Orioles have some scrambling to do I
mean they have time to do it every team
does sooner or later it just sucks that
they have to deal with it before
literally anything is even happened yet
it just goes to show you how you can
never truly have enough Talent on your
roster especially when it comes to
pitching let me know what you think
thank you for watching I'll see you soon
