Provinsi Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT) adalah sebuah provinsi yang terletak di sebelah tenggara Indonesia yang berbatasan dengan Laut Flores di sebelah Utara, Samudera Hindia di sebelah Selatan, Timor Leste di sebelah timur dan Provinsi Nusa Tenggara Barat di sebelah Barat. Nusa Tenggara Timur merupakan provinsi kepulauan yang terdiri atas 1.192 pulau yang sebagian besar pulau tersebut tidak berpenghuni. Lima pulau besar di NTT dikenal dengan nama ‘Flobamorata’ yang terdiri atas Pulau Flores, Sumba, Timor, Alor dan Lembata.
Provinsi yang sebelumnya memiliki nama ‘Provinsi Sunda Kecil’ ini resmi menjadi provinsi pada tahun 1958 berdasarkan UU Nomor 64 tahun 1958. Dalam peraturan tersebut, NTT dipecah menjadi tiga provinsi yaitu Provinsi Nusa Tenggara Timur, Provinsi Nusa Tenggara Barat dan Provinsi Bali. Pada awal diresmikannya NTT menjadi provinsi, wilayah administratif NTT terdiri atas 12 daerah Kabupaten/Kota. Jumlah ini terus bertambah hingga pada tahun 2019 wilayah administratif NTT terbagi atas 21 Kabupaten dan 1 Kota. Satu-satunya kota di NTT yaitu Kota Kupang, ibukota provinsi NTT yang berada bagian barat Pulau Timor.
